However that being said maybe they have learned from past mistakes of over accepting.. Also it seems like all deferred students were wait listed so perhaps there are a few spots available? I don't know the exact details, but one of my good friends has a friend who was accepted into the Maine Track off the wait list either last year or the year before shortly before orientation started, so I wouldn't give up hope until after August 6th!
 
I really can't believe that they haven't pulled anyone off the wait list yet. I didn't expect much movement but figured at least one of us on here would hear something.

Me neither. It's mindblowing - especially after all the anticipation: wait for initial decision, deferred, wait hopefully for the 1st 2 weeks of each month Oct-May, nothing, wait for May 15/16, nothing, wait until May 31, nothing, receive several emails explaining technical difficulties, waitlisted a week later than deadline, several weeks into June and no one's been removed.

Someone on another school's thread said the following (no idea where he got these numbers/if it's true/etc etc but thought it was still interesting if it were true):

"I think this cycle was unusually competitive. Last year there were 42,000 applicants. This cycle the number inexplicably ballooned to 47,000, the highest number since 1996. Whenever the economy is down, applications to graduate schools generally soar. I think waitlists will move at a rate much slower than is typical. And that isn't cool."
 
Don't lose hope yet - there are two new members of the facebook group and I think they may have only recently been accepted. Good luck!

I saw that too. One lady I recognized from the "tour and lunch" day at Tufts in Boston.
 
Has anyone heard anything? Sort of winding down here.... we've got like 3 weeks
 
What is "tufts maine track"?

i spoke with someone on admissions back in may (around the 14th i believe?) and they said there had yet to be any movement on the deferred list and that it was anticipated that there would be movement in the next 1-2 months... so... thats all i know, and its almost been 2 months. so, shrug :shrug:
 
I also spoke with someone in admissions to clarify when the last day is that we could hear back - wasn't sure if it was the first day of Maine Track orientation (Aug 6) or regular orientation (Aug 21). Confirmed that August 6 is the last day we could hear back. I don't know when we'd get confirmation emails acknowledging that or anything, but Aug 6 is the last day for us according to admissions. 4 weeks from yesterday. Looking pretty bleak, but I guess anything could happen.
 
Got a call from admissions yesterday-I have been accepted after being deferred since May! Looks like you can be accpeted at any time

Wow, congratulations! You must feel like a million bucks. Thanks for sharing - you've just re-opened the possibility of hope for the rest of us. I had completely given up.
 
Thanks 🙂 Im in a state of shock and a little bit of panic because I have to move ASAP and get my stuff together, I recieved the phone call at 2:20 (tuesday afternoon). Then got the email about 20 minutes later.

Congrats! Were you already set to go to another school or were you just rescued from having to reapply?
 
I certainly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but i just called maine track admissions and was informed the class is currently filled. she said there could still be movement, but it's currently filled.
