Just got Accepted last night!!! got a call from one of my interviews last night. My interview was last week for the Trust program

I did CC (running start) in high school and then again for my post-bac a while after undergrad. I've spent a lot of time in CC 🙂

UW doesn't really care about CC.

Thanks! I messed up in high school, so did 2 years at my cc, and transferred into UW. And hope to get into their med school in a year.

Congrats!!

I was also there interviewing last week... I guess this means I didn't make it into the program 🙁

Does anyone know if Organic Chemistry Lab is a prerequisite at UWSOM? I have looked online and it appears that they do not, but I know most schools do so I just wanted to make sure that I don't need to.

You should probably do the lab regardless of whether they require it or not. You shouldn't plan on applying to only one school and you should want to keep your options open.

Sorry it's not the answer your're looking for, but if no one else answers it on this forum you can always try calling or emailing the admissions office.

Congrats!! I got into TRUST as well. You going to accept? I wonder if there is going to be some way to communicate with each other before we start.....

again, congrats

Hey. Yeah I got the email on Wednesday evening. I dont know, but TRUST does have adcom meetings every month, so I cant imagine they make all of the acceptances at once...then the adcom meetings wouldnt really have a purpose, right?

AK applicant. I got the call yesterday afternoon. I spent the last four years working towards this and I'm so excited to get in this year! Getting into UW is the biggest honor of my life.

I was rejected twice, so to anyone who didn't make it in this year: stay focused and don't quit no matter what! You can do it!

From a fellow reapplicant (2nd time from Idaho) congratulations! It's a great feeling!

:luck::luck::luck: Good luck to JRG and the rest of the Montana WWAMI applicants on your interviews in Seattle this week. :luck::luck::luck:

How many interviews there in Seattle for Montana folks? I know there were 48 total in Bozeman. Is it about the same number for Seattle?

Montana taxpayers pay for 20 seats at UW. Five have already been assigned to the rural TRUST program, leaving fifteen slots for the rest of us ordinary "urban Montana" MD candidates.

Montana decisions should come out by the end of this week (Friday) or early next week. Some Montana applicants have already been flat out rejected, post-interview. I have no idea how many Montanans are competing for the remaining 15 slots.

Maybe JRG or somebody else could give us more info, like the number of MT applicants in Seattle per day and/or number of days of MT interviews in Seattle?

It is actually less than 15 because I know at least two kids from montana that interviewed in boz that were not trust applicants.

Hey Thanks!! I'm interested to see the UWash campus!

Wow that Many?? I assume there will be fewer than that in Seattle based on the 60-70 total they interview each year (comes from the premed 2010 UW manual). I can't tell you the exact numbers right now but based on the schedule here I can speculate. This shows that 6 applicants interview each day. Based on 4 days this week (assuming they're closed on Monday) that makes 24 total this week, which seems about right.

edit: It looks like they are only interviewing through Thursday so that makes a maximum of 18 applicants in Seattle if this schedule holds true.

Maybe JRG or somebody else could give us more info, like the number of MT applicants in Seattle per day and/or number of days of MT interviews in Seattle?

I can say that there are only 19 seats open for Montana applicants this year though. I know this because a friend of a friend deferred his acceptance last year and will be entering in August.

The Wyoming alternate list moved 8 slots last year in large part because they added several seats last year - going from 16 to 20. The Legislature is talking budget cuts, so they accepted the 16 seats they know they will have for the coming year, but expect to take the first 4 alternates again assuming the budget for WWAMI is not cut.

Please dont shoot the messenger, but Idaho moved 3 slots last year according to post #2 in our thread 🙁

Ugh! Rejected today. Post interview. 🙁 I really loved this school!

going into this week of wwami interviews, there were roughly 10 montana spots left- maybe less. the other 10 have already gone to deferees, trust students, and regular acceptances in january

🙁 I'm sorry. Did the interview go badly?

It wasn't my best interview and I'm OOS. One of my interviewers mentioned she was having a bad day...so not sure if that had anything to do with it. Hopefully good news goes out to others though! 🙂

Went to the TRUST interviews in Spokane and felt it was my best interview of the cycle. I was accepted at other schools... but REJECTED today by UW.

Positive side is that I don't have to worry about making a decision between my other top choice. I'm going to make UW regret it though when I become a great doctor 🙂

Jealous of you accepts. Do well at UW and we'll meet up in residency. Til then, chao.

3rd SUC for me. Interviewed in Jan. OOS. Sent a lengthy update letter after first SUC. Don't have many updates for a second SUC but I want them to know it's my dream school. Should my LOR writers give them call and give me a shout out? I wish they could just tell me what to do to get in..

Just got rejected from the last of my other schools yesterday and broke down. Can't believe I'm banking on THE #1 school to accept me... I'm OOS and deplorable stats.. why didn't I study harder for the mcat?! *heavy sigh*

I just received a second SUC email. I interviewed in early January. Still waiting...:xf:

Post-interview rejection today. Good luck to everyone who's still waiting.

Fingers crossed for you! It's a tough process, but there is still hope! 🙂

4th SUC for me this afternoon. Can't believe that at my #1 school it's becoming this dramatic, down to the wire and all....

Does anyone happen to know if OOS students are in a separate pile for consideration or do they get equal consideration to Washington residents at this point in the process? I'd hate to have to battle people like herroprease at the end for that 1 left over OOS spot.

Oh God, please no!

Hey---for the people who have turned their FAFSA in... UW admissions notes in an email they sent out, that you 'must' put your parents info + IRS returns down to receive scholarship consideration.

Do they even offer school scholarships? So is filling in all my parents information, which could take 5-10 hours worth it?

Thanks to anyone who knows the answers, esp. any current students who might be lurking on this thread.

I have been following this thread for some time and want to make something clear to all the applicants who are receiving SUC emails:

I personally know a candidate who applied in a previous cycle who interviewed in October (with spectacular stats and spectacular activities) and was not accepted until March. For anyone who has taken the time to read the UW interview materials and/or listen to the web videos posted by UWSOM, it is clear that approximately only half the class is filled by March - this means that the admissions committee most likely waits until ALL the interviews are down to compare the remaining applicants. Another explanation (as given in one of the videos) is that applicants who are SUC are held off until the consideration pool is similar to them (i.e. the competitiveness of the applicants in the consideration pool is similar).

So please do not lose hope. As you know, UWSOM has been giving out actual rejections, and so being under consideration is not a bad thing! I can imagine it is quite nerve-wracking, but I wanted to share the above anecdote as a hopeful touch to your waits.

I wish each of you the best and hope to see all of you over the course of the next four years.

One last FYI: interviews should be wrapping up near the middle of March, so decisions should start pouring out around then.

I spoke to Tabitha (UWSOM Financial Aid Program Coordinator). She said that if you only are going for the Federal Loans, then you can just put your information down. If you want any of the UW affiliated scholarships (particularly the SOM scholarship), then you need to put your parents info down because it is partially need based.

It should not take 5-10 hours to fill in your parents info. I sent my parents the form of the information I needed from them, and then it took a 20 minute phone call to get all the information from them and into the electronic form. Since most of our parents probably haven't filed their taxes yet, you just estimate and will fill out the info at a later date once you know.

Hope that helps.

Are you talking about filling out the FAFSA or SOM scholarship application? The latter requires a student account, so I wonder how we can get started with that.

The FAFSA does not take very long and you should get it done ASAP. The application for the SOM scholarship is not due until the end of May. You should have a student account by then. If not, it says 1st years can get an extension.

Had an identical experience. Tabitha was really helpful and if you have any confusing financial questions regarding your parents (as I did), she will almost certainly be able to answer them. I have the list of questions from the FAFSA that you'll need your parent(s) to answer...if anyone wants them, PM me.

hey guys, has anyone had an interview with the Office of Multicultural Affairs? What happens there? The email was rather ambiguous.

My interview with the OMCA was pretty laid back. they just ask you general questions about yourself and introduce you to the OMCA and the programs, services and classes they offer to med students at UW.

Anyone know what address to have my Undergrad registrar send official transcripts to UW? Also, I know it says to send transcripts only from schools that you obtained a degree, does this mean they don't want transcripts from my a school where I only took 1 summer class?
