Anyone know what address to have my Undergrad registrar send official transcripts to UW? Also, I know it says to send transcripts only from schools that you obtained a degree, does this mean they don't want transcripts from my a school where I only took 1 summer class?

I sent it to the Office of Admissions address :

UW School of Medicine
1959 NE Pacific St.
A-300 Health Sciences Center
Box 356340
Seattle, WA 98195-6340

Did any of you take two years off before medical school? I'm wondering if you were able to maintain residency status while working someone else... Thought?

Any Montanans received any good news??? I'm assuming I am not since calls were supposed to go out yesterday. Does anyone know if calls go out on sat or sun?

How do you know that calls were supposed to go out yesterday?

That's what they told me at my interview on Thursday. They told the same thing to my buddy who interviewed on Wednesday (who got his call last night). Basically they said that decisions were made on Friday and that you should get a call shortly after if you are one of the lucky ones otherwise you will hear your status via snail mail next week. But there still is a possibility that calls will go out this weekend/Monday. Good luck:luck:

Completely and utterly rejected at this school. Next!

Rejected also.....got the generic email saying I need more health care exposure, better understanding of delivery of health care and the need to take graduate level courses. Hmmmm I guess the damn near 5 years of work as a CNA, 130+ hours of shadowing, and having my masters doesn't count or maybe was just looked over on my application. what a joke!

Same here! It's okay though, I expected it and I'm not too torn up about it. I am a little upset about what them rejecting you, me and medicalman though. Medicalman already justified himself but you. You were someone that met their mission statement completely and would be an obvious return for their investment. Quite odd when someone I know got accepted with less stats than I and almost no clinical experience outside of shadowing. I am finding it hard to respect the admission process at UW at this moment.

FWIW I just put my complete personal statement on my MDApps. It was blatantly targeted at UW / WWAMI / MT-TRUST. Guess I don't interview well at public schools or something. Whatever. Their loss, not mine. 🙂

See you in New Orleans, JRG?

MT Headed, did they give you any reasoning for why they would reject a applicant of your caliber?

No, just the generic email from Carol. She has a lot of qualified candidates, blah blah blah. I got invited to a focus group, whee. If they sent any paper mail, I'll look it over. We don't have home postal delivery here in the woods, and I don't get down to the P.O. very often. Probably some more rejections waiting for me there 🙂

Yep!! If I get into OHSU I will make a choice at that point, but even if that happens I'm almost 100% sure I will be headed to NOLA! I'm very excited about it at this point and confindently reassured that Tulane is where I was meant to go to school after seeing more of UW. We'll talk more though!

Good luck to the rest of the applicants!

Sorry to hear that MT Headed and JRG...but I'm sure you guys will definitely enjoy NOLA! I'm from the opposite of the country but I'm in the running in both UW and Tulane too although not in at either place right now but not rejected at either. These two schools are pretty much my top choices so maybe UW will treat me differently or I will be able to join you guys at NOLA. :xf:

Anyone come across a UW match list? I know I have seen one before, but cannot seem to find it now ...

I searched the thread and tried looking elsewhere ...

To anyone:

Could anyone be kind of enough to send me a pdf of the MSAR 2010-2011 pages for UW? I only have the 2009/2010 one and I'm currently out of the country. I have been accepted to UW and I want to be able to compare stats to see if numbers have changed a lot from one year to the next in order to make my decision. I will appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

Elanor did you get a thumb drive on interview day? If so, its on there. Go into UWSOM information for interviewing applicants folder --> Curriculum --> 2010 or 2011 Residency Match Lists can be found there!

Thank you so very much! I appreciate it GoZags!

So I've read that right when you matriculate you get paired up with a preceptor right away that you spend half of a day with each week in the clinic as a Med-1, do you get to choose which specialty your preceptor is or do they randomly assign you? Maybe someone knows about this!

Got the call an hour ago! ACCEPTED OOR! 3X SUC! Can't wait to meet all you friendly people in Seattle!

Thank you! I can't contain myself! You guys have always been so kind and helpful! 😀DDDDDD

you get to preference a preceptor specialty and they're assigned based on your rank. Options are primary care- ie. peds, fp, internal med. you'll meet with this person regularly and then have the opportunity to go with sub-specialists on a more flexible, independent schedule- but not weekly.

Thanks for this!

So someone got a call! Does this mean they had a Committee meeting? I just interviewed last Tuesday.. I hope that doesn't mean I did not make it. :xf:

The person who got in interviewed a few months ago, I interviewed the same day as you I am guessing they haven't got back to anyone yet. In the past a few people would hear early but for most people it took a few weeks to hear back, people who heard later were still often accepted or placed in the SUC category.

Congrats on the acceptance! I wonder if the rest of us will hear back before the final EX COMM meeting at the end of this month. Any thoughts?

My guess is that it depends on when you interviewed, if you interview mid March you will likely have to wait until the end. In the past I heard within 2-3 weeks after the interview that I was SUC, so you should at least hear something. I heard that EXCOM meetings are more frequent near the end, so who knows. I think a lot of people are anxious to hear.

After the interview I felt like it went pretty well, an hour later I thought "I could have done this and this better but overall it went pretty well" and now I am like "oh crap I might have blown it when I said this." I think it best to try not to think about it.

Thanks for your input! I interviewed earlier in the season, but have been under consideration for a while now. Just trying to remain patient and hoping for the best at this point.

I was in your position when I applied in the 2009-2010 cycle, I was under consideration from January until they formed the alternate list. Looking back at the emails they sent it looks like the notifications for the alternate list rankings were sent on 3/26/10 that year, which means that was the date they notified everyone under consideration of their final decision. I hope you get an outright accept before then but at least you know it isn't too far away.

I hope to hear soon because I have interviews on the East coast that I really want to cancel.

In that case, do they not give straight acceptances during the final EX COMM meeting, just waitlist rankings?

No at least when was under consideration I know a few people got accepted in that last meeting, and a few people were accepted from under consideration in the weeks leading up to that last meeting. They make a lot of decisions of accept, reject or alternate list at that last meeting because they have all the applicants they will interview for the season. Last year I was rejected post interview so I think being under consideration is a good place to be, just keep positive!

Just got my rejection notice, strange because interview went really well. Oh well at least I'm in elsewhere.

7th "Still Under Consideration" email. "So you're telling me there's a chance. Yeah!"

Is it inappropriate to send updates via doc or pdf file attached to an email? I know it is more professional to send it via snail mail, but email is easier... Thoughts?

Also, have most of the OOR people received SUC emails? Or did they accept many students right away?

I interviewed at the end of last week and received an UC email this afternoon. Is it actually possible that they already met and reviewed my application at an EXCOM meeting? I was told that I would be waiting for at least 2 weeks for some sort of update and was shocked to get a status update so soon... seems sketchy. 😛

Did someone from admissions give you the 2 week time frame? I would think they started holding a meeting once a week or so since its close to the end of the interview season. So it actually seems reasonable, unless admissions told you otherwise.

I've heard that they tend to give very conservative timelines so that candidates aren't calling non-stop. That's the same reason they don't release executive committee meeting dates. I'm fairly certain that SUC always means they've talked about you at a meeting (if your excom member wasn't there, I don't think they update your status at all).

They explicitly told us 2-4 weeks at the beginning of the interview day, but I guess with the increase in meetings during March that it's possible.

It says on the "After the Interview" portion of the website that receiving an UC email could also mean that your EXCOM member wasn't present at the meeting... but I really don't know if that's the case here. I guess it's just hard to get over the shock of already hearing back. I'm delighted that it's not bad news, of course. I was just prepared for a longer wait.

Hey Idaho Applicants, Especially those who got accepted, where did you go to undergrad school at? Just out of curiosity since I'll be applying next year, wanted to see if there are any trends

For those who have been accepted, after you submitted your Background check and your transcripts have you heard anything / how long did it take you to hear back from them? Did they confirm anything?

A long time, haha ...

I'm on my 4th "Still Under Consideration"...Thanks for the positive outlook!

Yeah, I'm starting to get up there too with SUC e-mails. I got my 5th SUC on Monday so it's definitely nerve wracking knowing that things are really getting down to the wire now.
