Extended Review. Interviewed 1/13/12. Happy that I didn't get rejected 🙂 more waiting 🙁

Nah. Email.

I interviewed on the same day. I'm guessing this is the earliest that anyone is hearing back. Since the order in which an applicant is reviewed is randomized, this would certainly not guarantee that I hear back at the same time. Although it would be nice to hear back. 🙂 I'll just be patient.

Those that are on Extended Review receive an email. Those that are accepted/rejected/waitlisted, receive snail mail. I think you guys might be hearing in the next couple of days (if you were reviewed last week as well). GOOD LUCK!

How is extended review different from waitlisted?

Extended review means that they're deciding whether to accept you or waitlist you. I assume that if you end up getting waitlisted you'd be high on the list for a future acceptance.

Just got my acceptance letter! I will definitely be matriculating here next year!

Side note - FAQs from the interview packet says that extended review means they are deciding "whether an applicant receive an offer of acceptance or will be placed high on the alternate list." I would say whoever gets them has a very good chance of getting in. =]

congrats!

Hey y'all. I haven't posted on UWisc's SDN page before but I just wanted to say that back in October I received an email about being placed on hold because the AdCom did not want to invite me for an interview. I received an email about a week ago saying they want to interview me later in February. I just withdrew my application (so no worries about competition, lol) but I just wanted to let some of the concerned SDNers out there know that the school is still interviewing applicants and they're looking at people who were originally passed over a few months ago. (You can ignore this post if this has already been discussed... I wasn't going to spend the time checking to see if this is redundant info...) G'luck all!

For any current students on here, especially those that have been on the waitlist, how far does UWSMPH usually go into the waitlist? I'm just a bit worried now because I'm on extended review. Thanks.

Also really curious except I am already on just the wait list (no prior Extended Review), which I can only assume means a lower spot on the wait list 🙁 ....but IS which seems like it helps a bit

This wait list business is rough, seems like my whole life has been in limbo for months 😕

from what I can tell from past years on SDN the waitlist for IS has gone down to #11 2009-10, and #20 2010-11 other years 2008-9 have seen almost no movement (not confirmed)

Also, these numbers are just the lowest SDN numbered spot posted so there are probably people not on SDN at all or who didn't post on it

It was also mentioned in 2009-10 that the waitlist did NOT reach 31

can any one from Madison support these conclusions? drizzt3117?

While there for my interview, I met an individual that was IS #29 or 30 last cycle (I don't exactly remember the number). They said they were the last person to be accepted.

I have the sense that UW has been pretty conservative with the acceptances this year.

Do any current students know how long into February (or March?) UW extends interview invites? Also, to be clear, they don't accept updates pre-interview, correct? Thanks!

I sent an email of interest to someone I know at the admissions office last week. Rejected via snail mail yesterday (Complete December, nontrad w/ MS from UW, non-resident).

Good luck everyone, stay positive.

Just got my acceptance letter in the mail!! Very excited and definitely attending 🙂! Interviewed 1/20. Good luck everyone.

IS and complete in mid november. Did my undergrad here and doing a ms here this year (might of helped!).

Got my acceptance today too. Interviewed jan 13. Sooo excited. And def attending. See u all in aug. 🙂))

Congrats! IS or OOS?

IS. But I remember we were told on the interview day that if you are OOS and have received an invite to interview, you actually have slightly better chances than IS because they screen for OOS more than they do IS pre interview. So am guessing there is not a big difference at this point.

Hi all, thanks for all the great information that has been provided so far on this thread. I found this information about the WARM program today and thought that others might be interested in it as well. Apparently there were 61 applicants to WARM this year, 51 of which were interviewed.

Thanks for all the info. Does anyone know any good ways to find roommates. I know that there is the uwmedstudents website, any other suggestions/advice. When do people normally start looking?

You could always go on the Facebook class page and send out interest.

For undergrads in Madison, they usually sign the leases for their apartments in November (to move in August of the following year). These apartments are usually on the east side of campus and the HSLC is on the west side.

I've contacted a few apartment complex in Near West Madison (just off campus) and they told me they don't usually know what is available for July/August until ~2 months prior. I was looking on this website: http://www.cdliving.com/

For what it's worth, I think the UW med student website is great. I just signed a lease for a 2-br condo that is 4 miles away from the HSLC and I found it through that site. =]

The area around University just west of Camp Randall is good for getting to the med school and is quiet relatively.

I live by hilldale which is nice, it's 5-8 min by bus to the med school but in a more fun area with bigger and cheaper apts; some people like living more downtown which is nice.

Does anybody know if there is a difference between IS & OOS students on Extended Review? Does one have a better chance than the other?

Anyone planning on attending the "informal social gathering" tomorrow at 7:00pm prior to the interview on Friday? Let me know, maybe we can meet up prior or afterward. The interview is almost here. Starting to get a little nervous, I hope this goes great.

Hi everyone - I had interviewed on January 27 for the WARM program and got the acceptance nod today 😀 ! WOOOHOOO!

I know that WARM apps are generally reviewed a shorter time after the interview date because of the fewer applications, so my timeline is probably fairly different than most of you out there.

Oh, and I'm IS, and attended UW for undergrad.

hey - I'm definitely planning on going. See you there then?

Hey guys,

I made a call over to Admissions today and found out I was accepted! Whoever they reviewed last week, the letters were sent out yesterday (so they should know all of your results).

I am OOS (California), interviewed 1/13/12. I would say below average stats (and no I don't mean a 35 and 3.9gpa)

So you can do it! Excited!!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

🙂 Big day is tomorrow. Nice to meet some of you tonight. good luck everyone!!

Nice meeting you as well! Although I'm not even sure we spoke, it was a large interview group. The interview appeared to go really well for me, and most other I presume. The program looks excellent, Madison appears to be an awesome town, the people are really nice and approachable and the faculty are caring and knowledgeable. I would be thrilled to receive an acceptance here. Now comes the hard part though.............the hair pulling, nail biting, edge of my seat waiting. Good luck to all those who interviewed with me, as well as those before and after me!
