Twenty percent of my attention is constantly devoted to this waiting, this medical school application purgatory. Maybe thirty percent. I know it's irrational to hope for correspondence from Case tomorrow--my file was complete yesterday--but I have that hope. That hope suffuses my sensory awareness like an octopus taking a bubble bath.

How are you all managing the wait? I really ought to be working on secondaries, rather than complaining about my lack of IIs, but I'm curious to hear what folks do in times like these. Are there some who don't think it's any more stressful than usual? Are there some who think it is stressful, and deal with it by biking thirty miles a day, or learning how to make sugar sculptures, or joining a motorcycle gang?

Seriously, though. What are the mechanisms by which you cope?

I feel the same way haha. I'm just grateful for the interviews I have so far.

Otherwise, watching mindless cartoons has been the best remedy. 😀

That's tough....we should compile a list of things to do while waiting. The less interviews you have, the more fun your list.

0 interviews:
-Beach?
-Skydiving
-Watch all Star Wars and/or Lord of the Rings movies back to back

1 interview:
-Netflix to hearts content
-Brownies

How long are everyone's responses to the prompts? Is everyone writing close to the 3,500 character limit? This secondary is killing me and I've hit the 2 week mark and need to wrap it up, but I wonder if they prefer concise answers to lengthy ones?
 
I was verified by AMCAS on 7/16 and still haven't received a secondary invite from here, should this be a cause for concern? Or does it typically take this long for secondaries to get sent out?

Usually they come out in batches
Three cycles, and i have yet to hear of someone's application getting lost.

Not yet. I'm hoping soon though - Case is my top choice and it's hard to keep myself from getting too excited about it.

I'm curious too...this is the same situation I'm in lol
 
My challenge essay was 2900ish, so I absolutely couldn't have written more if I wanted to. I decided quality over quantity and it paid off for me with an early II, so trust your gut and just write an essay you like and hope for the best!
 
i just checked my status and i have a "hold status" for university track. i applied both university track and CCLCM. anyone know if this means silent rejection or passing on to review for CCLCM?

Interesting. I have two big blank spaces under university track and college track. Idk what it means if you got placed on hold for one and haven't gotten a decision on the other. But I'm digging the suspense!

A friend of mine, who was verified about a week after I was, received the secondary though. Are the batches released based on something other than date of submission?
 
the case twitter says that more II's will come out in a couple weeks--after they train interviewers.
 
II - complete 8/1

Does anyone know the number of accepted students? From the MSAR, it seems like a lot are interviewed, and only ~15% of the interviewed number matriculate.

i'm curious about this as well.
 
~45% of interviewed students were accepted in 2011.

that's actually really good! 😀 do you guys know if they're planning to increase or decrease the number of interviews this year?
 
Cleveland Clinic interview yesterday!!! sooo excited!!! haven't heard back from UP yet though ...
 
did they called you for the interview invite or sent you an email ?
 
Hoping for some love from this school. One of my top choices!!
 
It was sent via email today but my status page changed yesterday lol

So I logged in to check my status and the first page upon login says:

iApply Bulletin Board

You have not yet submitted your application. Your application will not be considered until you have confirmed that it is complete and submitted it to our office.

However, when I click on the "Status" link it says that I am complete and paid as of mid-July.

Anyone have the same experience?
 
Received hold letter from both programs yesterday. How likely they will "revisit" the application later? Do they accept information update? Thanks.
 
I know this might sound stupid but two of my apps have screwed me over on formatting. How are you guys copy and pasting in from word? I am trying to avoid my number one school getting jumbled text... I spent two weeks at this and it would devastate me if I irreversibly messed this one up.
 
Interview for CP! UP interview came in last week 🙂

It may be right under my nose, but I can't find this information anywhere: # of CP applicants: # interviewed : # accepted. Anyone?
