For those of us who interviewed at CCLCM, accepted applicants should be hearing sometime later this week or early next!

Question for current students: can you get by without a car here?

How did you find out. :O Is this based on last year's thread, or did you call the office?
I was told by my student hosts that it'd be hard (not impossible) without a car unless one of your roommates has one you can use.
just got placed on hold for the university track : ( really disappointed because i really loved the school : ( what are the chances like for those of us on the hold list? How many get accepted off of it every year?
For the UP, you should be able to do without a car for the first two years if you live close enough to campus to walk or take the RTA. After that, you still might be able to get by without a car if you do all of your rotations at UH and maybe CCF, but you won't be able to rotate at Metro unless you find someone else who will let you borrow their car/drive you there. You will also run into the problem of having to come to and from the hospitals at odd times, which isn't the safest thing to do in Cleveland. There are some not-so-great areas next to both Case and CCF where walking home late at night would be a really bad idea. I never had a problem while I was there, but there's no sense in going looking for trouble by being out on the streets alone at 3AM, either.Question for current students: can you get by without a car here?
Just got the call...CCLCM Acceptance!! 🙂
I actually was put on the waitlist by CWRU and then accepted by CCLCM.
UP - I got an email that said I was waitlisted, I think that's the same thing as put on hold? Oh wait, I just checked the email and it says "on hold." My mind just read it as "waitlist"
I interviewed end of October, but I remember them saying that they can only accept 32 people at a time because of the funding. So I assume there will probably be movement off of whatever waitlist they end up forming.
Congrats on the acceptance! For those who did not receive a call today, does that automatically mean that we are either rejected or on hold? Or do they call people in waves?

Acceptances are via e-mail + status update, not calls.
If its 32 at a time, that won't leave too much room for anyone else come March...(Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb=160). Assuming they accept a full 32 each month, of course.
There's a fair bit (50+%) of waitlist turnover each year.
Timeout....that's a fantastic username/avatar combo.....Ha.
OK, back to CWRU....
Does this mean all CCLCM candidates interviewed by December should receive the call/waitlisted/rejection this week?
Just wondering, does anyone know if there is an easy way to get from the Case campus to CC campus for the morning start time? Thanks!
I called CCLCM Admissions Office yesterday to ask when I should expect to hear from them. Since I interviewed at the very end of November, the lady said that I should not expect any final decisions until next year, in January of early Feb.
Hope that helps.
CCLCM interview in Oct and no news yet :/
Thanks!
I interviewed in mid Nov, maybe I need to call to find out whether the decision has been made. BTW, for the people who have been put on waiting list or rejected, do they receive letters/email/online update?

For CCLCM, it will take a lot of extra prep work to make arrangements, since we start our clinical experience in the fall of the first year. Assuming you can get a preceptor on the main campus or at one of the outlying sites that is easily accessible by RTA (ex. Beachwood), you can probably do it for the first two years. Again, after that, you will be limiting your options of where you can rotate, and you will have the problem of needing to get to and from the hospitals at odd hours.
Veale (http://athletics.case.edu/facilities/veale_center) is a decent, free facility for students. You are correct in assuming that it is shared with the undergrads. It's very close to the medical school and UH, and thus farther from the Cleveland Clinic and hell-and-gone from MetroHealth. 121 Fitness (http://onetoone.case.edu/) is a members-only gym in essentially the same location with a lot more cardio machines and classes; my wife and I did yoga there while we were in undergrad at Case. 121 also has a tasty (but overpriced) smoothie bar. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the response!
A follow up:
Is 121 that much nicer/bigger/have that much more equipment to warrant paying? I'm just a lifter who does cardio a few times a week on the elliptical/stairmaster, think I could get by just fine in Veale?
Has anyone made a hotel reservation and gotten a discount for saying you were interviewing at Case or CCLCM? You can PM me if you want

You've already heard about the two options at Case. There is also a gym in the Walker Center at CCF. It's free for CCLCM students. I'm not sure what UP students would be charged to join it. CCLCM students can also use Veale for free. Everyone has to pay to use 121. I never went in there, but I've heard it's very nice. Veale is just fine, as long as you don't mind sharing equipment with a bunch of sweaty teenage muscle man wannabees who periodically break everything. For current/former students:
What is the gym situation like at Case? I'm assuming the grad/professional schools share one with the undergrad? Is it big? Lots of equipment? How accommodating are the hours to your schedule (I know as M1's and M2's we would have quite a bit of time in the afternoons)? How close is it to the medical school? Do most people use it or do they prefer a large commercial gym in the area??
I know that was a lot of questions, so thanks in advance!
You might want to go take a tour of 121 just to see, but I think you'd be fine just using Veale. Thanks for the response!

I stayed at the Intercontinental Suites on the CCF campus. They do give a discount if you're interviewing, and they will shuttle you to both campuses. I can't remember if they shuttle you to the airport also, but if not, just take the Health Line to Tower City and then take the Red Line to the airport.Has anyone made a hotel reservation and gotten a discount for saying you were interviewing at Case or CCLCM?
