For those of us who interviewed at CCLCM, accepted applicants should be hearing sometime later this week or early next! :xf:

How did you find out. :O Is this based on last year's thread, or did you call the office?

Question for current students: can you get by without a car here?

I was told by my student hosts that it'd be hard (not impossible) without a car unless one of your roommates has one you can use.

😱

UP decisions for the last batch of interviews should come out soon too...

It may depend on where you live. My MS2 host was in Little Italy and didn't have one; her apartment is in walking distance to the school. That might get harder in clinical years, however?

Just got placed on Hold for the University Track : ( Really disappointed because I really loved the school : ( What are the chances like for those of us on the hold list? How many get accepted off of it every year?

Question for current students: can you get by without a car here?
For the UP, you should be able to do without a car for the first two years if you live close enough to campus to walk or take the RTA. After that, you still might be able to get by without a car if you do all of your rotations at UH and maybe CCF, but you won't be able to rotate at Metro unless you find someone else who will let you borrow their car/drive you there. You will also run into the problem of having to come to and from the hospitals at odd times, which isn't the safest thing to do in Cleveland. There are some not-so-great areas next to both Case and CCF where walking home late at night would be a really bad idea. I never had a problem while I was there, but there's no sense in going looking for trouble by being out on the streets alone at 3AM, either.

For CCLCM, it will take a lot of extra prep work to make arrangements, since we start our clinical experience in the fall of the first year. Assuming you can get a preceptor on the main campus or at one of the outlying sites that is easily accessible by RTA (ex. Beachwood), you can probably do it for the first two years. Again, after that, you will be limiting your options of where you can rotate, and you will have the problem of needing to get to and from the hospitals at odd hours.

Has anyone else's status not been updated? Their twitter would suggest that they've released decisions for UP.

If put on hold for UP post-interview, is there any chance being accepted by CP?

saw this on their website: Applicants accepted by the CCLCM Admissions Committee will also be reviewed by the CWRU Admissions Committee before any offers for admission are made.

I actually was put on the waitlist by CWRU and then accepted by CCLCM.

Thanks for letting me know. For the CWRU, are you talking about UP or MSTP? I thought UP put all people not accepted post interview on hold. Congrats to your CCLCM acceptance!

After seeing your post, I feel my chance for CCLCM gets even smaller. (I interviewed in early nov and am waiting to hear the decision recently.)

UP - I got an email that said I was waitlisted, I think that's the same thing as put on hold? Oh wait, I just checked the email and it says "on hold." My mind just read it as "waitlist"

I interviewed end of October, but I remember them saying that they can only accept 32 people at a time because of the funding. So I assume there will probably be movement off of whatever waitlist they end up forming.

If its 32 at a time, that won't leave too much room for anyone else come March...(Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb=160). Assuming they accept a full 32 each month, of course.

Congrats on the acceptance! For those who did not receive a call today, does that automatically mean that we are either rejected or on hold? Or do they call people in waves?

Acceptances are via e-mail + status update, not calls.

For CCLCM it is calls. And they are only accepting 16 people in December and another 16 in February. Then filling in spots when people decline.

There's a fair bit (50+%) of waitlist turnover each year.

Does this mean all CCLCM candidates interviewed by December should receive the call/waitlisted/rejection this week?

I called CCLCM Admissions Office yesterday to ask when I should expect to hear from them. Since I interviewed at the very end of November, the lady said that I should not expect any final decisions until next year, in January of early Feb.

Hope that helps.

Just wondering, does anyone know if there is an easy way to get from the Case campus to CC campus for the morning start time? Thanks!

Yes! Take the RTA Healthline bus from any stop on Euclid Avenue in University Circle to the Clinic stops. I believe there are 3- Adelbert, Cornell, 115th Street. Just make sure you are on a station on the correct side of the road so you dont go East instead of West. The 93rd Street stop is the one for the Cleveland Clinic main building. You should be on the side of Euclid opposite of University Hospitals/Case Medical School. Average wait time for a bus is 5-10 minutes and the trip is about 10 minutes depending on Euclid traffic (based on my experience as a Case undergrad these past 4 years).

Let me know if you have any other questions about Case, CC, or Cleveland and good luck with your interview!

I interviewed in mid Nov, maybe I need to call to find out whether the decision has been made. BTW, for the people who have been put on waiting list or rejected, do they receive letters/email/online update?

I don't think you need to. From what I heard from current students, CCLCM accepts people either in December or around Feb-March, which makes their admissions "semi-rolling." If you aren't heard anything in Dec, I would assume that you are in the next batch; that is you will hear back probably in Feb.

Also, my understanding from my call is that it takes a few weeks for them to even get to your application and more time to make a decision. So, I think only the people who interviewed relatively early (Sept-Oct and maybe early Nov) will hear back in Dec. I suspect that the committee won't meet much during Dec because of the Holidays.

Finally, more people are interviewed at one given time as the year progresses, so it makes sense that it would take longer to hear back, even if you interviewed in mid-November. .

Thanks!

Just got the call...CCLCM Acceptance!! 🙂

Same...too excited right now!

Congratulations! 🙂

CCLCM interview in Oct and no news yet :/

same... Maybe news in Feb?

If you have already interviewed but did not hear news this time, no final decisions have actually been made. You will be reviewed again along with with the people who interviewed later at the next committee meeting when the second set of acceptances are given out. :luck:

So when they said we'd hear either way in December, was that not correct?

On the iApply website, it says, "If you have any significant changes to share, please contact our admissions office at (216) 368-3452." Would grades from this past semester be considered a "significant change?" My GPA only increased 0.03 points. Thanks in advance!

does anyone know how many interview slots are left for the college track? i was put on hold pre-interview a month ago and am still holding my breath for an interview... thanks in advance!

For current/former students:

What is the gym situation like at Case? I'm assuming the grad/professional schools share one with the undergrad? Is it big? Lots of equipment? How accommodating are the hours to your schedule (I know as M1's and M2's we would have quite a bit of time in the afternoons)? How close is it to the medical school? Do most people use it or do they prefer a large commercial gym in the area??

I know that was a lot of questions, so thanks in advance!

Veale (http://athletics.case.edu/facilities/veale_center) is a decent, free facility for students. You are correct in assuming that it is shared with the undergrads. It's very close to the medical school and UH, and thus farther from the Cleveland Clinic and hell-and-gone from MetroHealth. 121 Fitness (http://onetoone.case.edu/) is a members-only gym in essentially the same location with a lot more cardio machines and classes; my wife and I did yoga there while we were in undergrad at Case. 121 also has a tasty (but overpriced) smoothie bar. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response!

A follow up:

Is 121 that much nicer/bigger/have that much more equipment to warrant paying? I'm just a lifter who does cardio a few times a week on the elliptical/stairmaster, think I could get by just fine in Veale?

I think it probably depends upon when you will be working out. Veale would be fine unless you always wanted to work out at busy times. They may have upgraded some of the facilities since I left, too.

Has anyone made a hotel reservation and gotten a discount for saying you were interviewing at Case or CCLCM? You can PM me if you want

The Glidden House was nice and they gave a small discount. It's located at University Circle and was walking distance from Case.

Hampton Inn also gave me a good discount, and it is close to Case and CCLCM. They also have a free shuttle service to take you to both Case and CCLCM. Just note that if you stay there, once you check out of the hotel, their shuttle service is no longer free if they take you to the airport.

You've already heard about the two options at Case. There is also a gym in the Walker Center at CCF. It's free for CCLCM students. I'm not sure what UP students would be charged to join it. CCLCM students can also use Veale for free. Everyone has to pay to use 121. I never went in there, but I've heard it's very nice. Veale is just fine, as long as you don't mind sharing equipment with a bunch of sweaty teenage muscle man wannabees who periodically break everything. :d

All kidding aside, I did most of my working out at CCF, but if I were a UP student, I would probably not have bothered paying extra to go to 121. Again, though, take that with a grain of salt, because I have no idea what I would have been missing.

Thanks for the response!

You might want to go take a tour of 121 just to see, but I think you'd be fine just using Veale.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Suites on the CCF campus. They do give a discount if you're interviewing, and they will shuttle you to both campuses. I can't remember if they shuttle you to the airport also, but if not, just take the Health Line to Tower City and then take the Red Line to the airport.
