I really hope wait list movement isn't over already 🙁

It can't be- we haven't even reached May 15th yet. There have to be some people who are going to drop.

It is May 1st here. Anyone holding other acceptances had to drop them to stay at case already.

So basically the only way for someone to be accepted off of the Case/CCLCM alternate list is if an accepted student gets off the wait list at a school that they prefer over Case/CCLCM and drops their spot?

That is what I am thinking/dreading. Maybe they have not gone over all of the applicants on the list to fill the big May 1st drop? I'm not exactly sure.

The CCLCM letter says they've finalized their selection for the incoming class. There could still be people who drop to go elsewhere, say after getting off another waitlist after May 15th, but given that it's a class of 32, I'd say a lot of movement is very unlikely.

Is this also true for UP?

Just got the call from Mr. Essman, I got in!! I guess the wait-list is still moving after all.

Got a call at 2pm and accepted! Probably will decline, but this school impressed the hell out of me all around.

36/ 4.0 for stats

i missed a call today and they left a message sayingi they wanted to "ask me a few questions about my application"..... interesting.

Congrats!!! Then there must be a school you like better? Or closer, cheaper? just wondering.

Closer and cheaper. Honestly my decision would be a lot simpler if Case/Mr Essman weren't so impressive. I'm going to hear out what financial aid has to offer, and make it quick one way or the other because I've been waiting right alongside you guys for weeks now.

Dude Mr. Essman sold the school so well. He was easily my favorite staff person from my interviews, and I feel he's what gave me a good impression of the school.

Well played Case...

I just withdrew my acceptance. I hope it goes to one of you waitlisters! It was really hard to say no to Case, I really loved the curriculum!

Did everyone get that alternate list update email?

Withdrew from the waitlist today. Think I made the right decision not to pursue Case further, but absolutely loved the school.

Good luck everyone still on the waitlist!

Anybody hear anything recently? Seems like waitlist movement is basically over 🙁

I may be too late for this to be answered, but if any current CCLCM students are still looking at this board, I have a quick question.

I've been talking to some of my friends from the UP and they mentioned that they've been studying a lot for exams this week, and by studying I mean they've been going really hard in a cramming-esque style to get ready. Now perhaps their habits are the outliers, but I'd assume students still must put in especially long hours right before exams.

Clearly I understand that all students must study throughout the year, but since the CP students aren't dealing with exams this week, are they given a pass on that kind of studying stress? Is there some other "hidden" evaluation system (exams under a different name)?

Thanks!

CCLCM alum here. No, there are no exams at CCLCM, hidden or otherwise, for the entire time you're in med school except Step 1 and Step 2 of the USMLE. You can't avoid taking those no matter where you go to med school. 😉

I think it is fair to say that at CCLCM, you tend to study at a constant level throughout your time there, as you have weekly assignments for PBL and weekly homework assignments (multiple choice questions and essay questions). That is definitely different than at many other schools where your studying level kind of goes up and down depending on how soon your next exam is coming up.

Hope that answers your question, and good luck!

2 update letters, 3 Letters of Interest, and a Letter of Intent... I feel helpless at this point. They've offered acceptances for 3 weeks now. Does anyone think they even have any spots left open at this point? I know people can still withdraw, but since it's past May 15th the chance of that happening is now fairly minute.

Yeah I'm in a fairly similar situation. I am assuming that a lack of news after a letter of intent/interest is basically a silent rejection.

You never know, I think the latest I heard someone get an acceptance was 2 days before school started. So you got till early July.

Got the call yesterday. SO EXCITED!

Outside:
Congrats! That's awesome! Was/is Case your top choice? It's good to know there is still a tiny bit of movement, though I'm assuming the only movement now is from students getting off other wait lists and withdrawing from Case.

Case was definitely a top choice. I wouldn't give up. I really thought that I would never get off the waitlist and had actually started looking for housing and roommates at another med school. Good luck!

Seems like Thursday is the day they like to give acceptance phone calls. Oh well, maybe next week 🙁

I think I got mine on Thursday too. But, I missed it and then they left a message. And then I Friday I remembered to call them back at 2:30pm AZ time (which during the summer I believe is PST - AZ doesn't do DST). So stupid 3 hour time difference. And so I couldn't be sure till Monday.

News out of Cleveland today: The new medical school building will be located on Cleveland Clinic's main campus, and matching funding from CWRU and CCF. While CCLCM (the CP) and the UP will still be separate, they will be co-located in the same building. While this probably doesn't affect most of you, this is a win all-round for CWRU - instantly leap-frogging the schools' infrastructure from 1960s/70s technology to state-of-the-art facilities. This combined with the state-of-the-art medical mart and convention center will put Cleveland in a very strong position as a national/international leader in medical education (medical mart link) Check out the article.

Question for CCLCM students: have you ever heard of a reapplicant getting interviewed after a post-interview hold/ejection during the previous cycle? My application is largely the same.

There's an old Persian saying that goes something like this:
"Why argue about how many teeth a horse has when you can go count them?"
Call the office and ask what you can do to be a better applicant. They don't bite.
It'll probably be much more useful for your entire application this year than just speculation.

I have a very small update to send in ( a paper I am in was submitted to a journal for review, and I completed a community college course) Is it worth it to send an update? Or are these too small to really matter? Just wanted other peoples opinion! Thanks!

I think a submitted paper is a decent update, actually.
I would send it in if I were you! Hell, I wish I had that kind of update. 🙂

Definitely way too small to matter. Don't bother.

...

 Kidding. Yeah I can't see it hurting your app to type up a quick letter and sending it on over.

Looking through the MDApps profiles of students who have been accepted to Case this cycle, the majority of them withdrew, with only 1 profile confirming matriculation. Just seems like so many more people have withdrawn than the wait list has moved. Maybe Case over accepted this year?

I wouldn't read too much into it. I am sure there are many people who didn't post their acceptance off the waitlist here. I think class is full by now and we will only get accepted as current student of the same demographics or possibly the same undergraduate school choose to attend another school. As an ORM from a popular undergraduate school, I can only hope :luck::luck::luck::luck: =]

Yes, although if your app is largely the same, I don't know why you'd expect the school's response to be any different. To see vc7777's aphorism and raise him one better, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

But seriously, I agree with vc7777 that you should contact the admissions office to find out how you can improve your app and make those changes first before reapplying. Don't waste your time and money applying with the same app that didn't work the first time.

Was your paper accepted for publication or submitted only? I probably wouldn't bother sending an update about a manuscript being submitted, but having a paper accepted is a big deal and you should definitely tell them about that. The CC course is probably not important unless it fulfills a required pre-req or otherwise significantly affects your academic record.

What's the chance of getting off the waitlist at this point? loll
