I'm kind of nervous about Creighton as everyone seems to have a great feeling coming out of the interview, so how do they decide who to accept and who to wait list?

Reading through last years thread and hearing the initial feedback from the early interviewers this year made me think of this.

Or maybe everyone does "good" and those accepted to "great"

Just what SDN needs.... More neuroticism
I was wondering the same thing lol.

also, there were about 24 interviewees that day. It was indeed a very low stress interview. Very conversational!

Last year they accepted almost 2/3 of the students they interviewed. So chances are pretty good once you get an interview!

For those who've interviewed how many interviewees were there that day? Jw

I interviewed yesterday. There were 23 interviewees.

The interviews were very laid back and relaxed. I didn't think this was one of my top choices, but I was very surprised by the whole school and hospital. I could definitely see myself going here.

I was talking to some of the students and they were wondering if the earlier students had an advantage since in later interview the school couldn't possibly accept 2/3 of the people. Maybe that is just wishful thinking?

That's possible, because they students they interview earlier are usually the ones they are interested in the most, but I think they just accept most of the students they interview throughout the year. Considering they only interview about 10% of applicants, those who get interviews should be very hopeful, regardless of the interview date 🙂

I just checked the status of my secondary, and under the letter of recommendation requirements met section it had a no. Does it have a no until they review them, or did they already review them and found that they did not meet the requirements? Any thoughts? Thank you.

That probably means they looked at it and it doesn't meet the requirements. I would call or email the admissions office.

I just got an email invitation to attend the Fall open house at Creighton med. Does anybody know what this is? Is this an interview invite? Seems odd.

Open House invitation without first extending a status update? I beg your pardon, but I'm not that kind of girl! :nono:

I got one too. I'm pretty positive that it is not an II.

Absolutely not an interview invite.

I am also not that kind of guy. Don't even update me on our relationship status and you want me to come over to your house? At least tell me where I stand first..😉

I got so excited when I saw an email from Creighton today, and then it was the stupid open house thing -_-. Don't get my hopes up like that med schools lol.

I also got the open house invite, was excited because all I read was creighton and invitation haha...

Dang.

Is anyone actually going to go?

Opem house email? I got excited thinking it was an interview or at least a rejection.. tired of waiting

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SDN Mobile

I think I'll go to the open house and then send them an in the area e-mail.

But seriously, WHY YOU TEASE ME CREIGHTON!?

so if i cant go to open house and I havent visited the school before are they gonna take that as i am not really interested in the school. I really love creighton but i already have another interview oct 6. any advice on what to do or what i should say in an email to them?

I would say go to the open house... if you live in Omaha or within driving distance. If you are applying now, don't waste your time unless you live there. You will get a tour when you get an interview invite. This open house shouldn't positively or negatively affect your chances.

Creighton is definitely one of the kinder schools when it comes to the admissions process, but that open house email was mean!! Hahaha, got really excited and then really sad lol.

I didn't get an open house invite. Does that mean that they don't want me or was everyone supposed to get one? Thanks

Update letter: ready to go.

I normally run far away from pre-interview updates, but it certainly seems like they welcome these sorts of things, and I've actually done a number of things since submitting my AMCAS.

EDIT: Question--does anyone have any insight into the recommended format of update letters for Creighton? I wrote about 3-4 paragraphs explaining what I have been doing, but wanted to make sure they didn't simply want a one line list (or something along those lines)...

Are you complete at Creighton? maybe they only sent it to students with complete applications? Just my guess...

I have been complete for a long time. Should I call, or am I just being neurotic?

has anyone who interviewed so far this cycle done the student host program?

Yeah I used the host program. I would definitely recommend it. They take care of all your transportation needs and give you tips for the interview.

Hi all, I've got a question for people who may know more about Creighton or about the application process in general.

I got an II for Oct 27th a while back. I took it without looking at flights and such. Now that I'm checking, there are no (read, absolutely none) flights leaving Omaha to Chicago that day AFTER the program is scheduled to end. The latest one leaves 5 minutes before the program is scheduled to end.

I really wanted to be able to get back by Saturday night, and I really don't know what I would do with an extra day in Omaha. Do you think there's any way I could have my interview date changed? Who would I contact?

Barring that, how strongly would you advise against leaving the function early (right after lunch) to catch the 2:55pm flight? This would mean missing the tour of the medical center and the closing address.

All advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

i hear you with the flights. i have to fly out of Ohare (a 2.5 hour drive from where I live) in order to get a reasonably priced/timed flight. i actually rescheduled my interview day and it's no big deal, I just called the admissions office.

i wouldn't advise leaving early.. while i'm sure the admissions office understands the situation with flights, I think this might come across as uninterested, but that's just my opinion

Hopefully I'll see some of you nice people tomorrow?? So excited for this interview!! 🙂

So Im interviewing here tomorrow and 2 days ago I fell flat on my face while running and have a fat lip and a scrape across my face. the fat lip should be better but the cut will not be. Awesome first impression. See yall tomorrow! Lol

Hmm, maybe I'll try calling and changing the date. I did manage to find ONE flight back to Chicago that I would barely be able to make (program ends at 3pm, flight departs at 5pm). I would go ahead and book it but it's over $200 for a one-way trip home. Not sure if it's worth it.

Although, provided I do end up getting it, could someone who's had an interview already please let me know what time the program really ends? I know it says "3pm" on the agenda they emailed us. But I'd like to know how much longer it could take (mostly because I don't want to miss a $200 flight if I can help it).

Thanks y'all! And best of luck tomorrow for those interviewing!

The tours go until 3pm but some take a couple minutes longer than others. All tours are usually finished by 3:15. If you are really crunched for time, you can just tell your tour guide you need to leave early and it wouldn't be a problem. A flight leaving at 5pm should be fine. The airport is only about 15 min from the school. The airport is also fairly small, so getting through security usually doesn't take long. In general, if you leave 1-1.5 hours before your flight, you should be okay.

You interview pretty early in the day, like 1030-11ish. In theory you could probably dip out right after and I doubt anyone would notice, but I wouldn't advise it. I left the tour at about 2pm.

Finally managed to book a flight. It's over 200 for a round trip, and I'll have to leave my apartment at 6AM to make the departure on time. But, on the positive side, the return flight is a little after five, giving me the opportunity to fully participate in the entire program, and to get home in time for the Halloween themed celebratory party my friends are now throwing for me.

WooT!

Nice dude! Lookin forward to it. I will be the guy in the corner telling lawyer jokes and making Michael Scott quotes...

...probably by himself...
I totes know who you are dude

Hahaha right! But really. Yeaaaah it said 6-8 weeks, but then he said 8 weeks at minimum, usually. It's the only thing I was really listening for 😛

If I learned anything from my previous interview cycles, it's the motto of patience--thus, I mentally constructed three levels of interview responses:

Their website will say 3-4 weeks, the dean will tell you to expect 4-8 weeks, and you should prepare for 5-12 weeks. 😀
