Hello everyone! It has been some time posting on here. I hope that good news will be coming for all of us. Stay positive and think good! My prayers are with us all.

Also, there is some time left before the process ends, and if you waiting for interviews, make sure to update. I also hope that you get it.

If you are done with your interview, let's hope and pray for that good news! 🙂

The future is uncertain. But what you do today, that will have an influence to your future.

Also, I'm being real with what I say too.

Hello Everyone,

I have been accepted into SABA university School of Medicine and have an upcoming interview with the American university of the Carribean (AUC). I have not yet been accepted by a AMCAS school yet. I have a 3.5 GPA and 26 MCAT. I finished my secondary for Howard back in late October - early November. Do you guys have any comments regarding my chances of attending this school. Keep in mind that I have not received an interview request or a rejection letter yet. I wish everyone here the best of luck with their future endeavors.

Congrats on getting accepted! It's hard to tell the chances for this school and many other schools. There are about nearly 7000 applications for this school. But there have been students that have received an interview and have gotten accepted. Best of luck to you as well!

And best of luck to the folks on this thread :luck:

It is hard to tell about your chances. At Howard, they do look at everything. I think there is about a month left with the interviews, and maybe you could get an interview over here or at any other schools that you have applied to in AMCAS. Also, congratulations on getting accepted to SABA!

Hey Sweetness34!!! Thank you for your support and I hope that we will become classmates at HUMC!

I just withdrew my acceptance here. Good luck everyone!

Just wanted to stop by and say good luck to everyone applying. I was in your shoes 4 years ago. Coming to Howard University was one of the best decisions I made in my life. Medical school is very demanding but the family atmosphere at HU makes it enjoyable. I have to thank Student Doctor and this thread for keeping me updated. I checked it everyday. If you all have any questions about Howard like curriculum or board prep etc PM me. I am not involved in the admissions process so I would probably not be the best person to ask those questions.

My next stop is Duke Anesthesiology! Totally would not be possible without SD.net and people like you, so thanks!

It seems to be a lot more negativity on SD.net these days just from browsing the boards. Optimism has been proven to provide better outcomes in medicine and in life.

Maybe I should take a trip to the donation page and give away a few coins that I don't really have! Good luck all, and be blessed!

Hey everyone!!

I just came back from an interview at Howard! Just wanted to share my experiences with you. They are right in that family is stressed. All of the students and faculty were extremely friendly. The best part of the interview was how much they emphasized underserved communities. The interview itself was not as stressful as others I have been to. They made it as conversational as possible. Ms. Walk said that they do not interview people for waitlist so there are still spots available. Stay positive and good luck everyone!

Hey kalvin, hope your interview went well. It truly is an amazing place. Good luck to you! 🙂

Hey guys,
A friend of mine got an email that a decision has been made and is just awaiting a signature, and the email/mail will go out Apr 8. Does this mean an acceptance or rejection?

It does say to call to find out when you receive the email

You have to wait until they send you another email, then you call Ms. Walk to find out your decision. In all of the cases I've heard so far, they have been acceptances.

What that means is that your friend's application went through the committee and the committee made a decision on their application. This decision may either be getting an acceptance, being placed on the alternate list, or it may be a rejection. Whatever decision in that letter goes to the Dean of Admissions for signature.

I hope that your friend hears good news. 🙂

Hi Kalvin!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I just have a question concerning the fact that Howard does not interview students for the waitlist: Does this mean that if you do get an interview, you have a good chance of getting in, or simply that Howard only continues to interview as long as they have actual spots available. Thanks so much for your input, and good luck for this application cycle!

Thanks Sweetness!!

MosEisley:

If I'm correct, it means both, that they have spots available still and that anybody who interviews still has a good chance of getting in.

I asked Ms. Walk about the whole email, mail, and phone call. I think how it works is, when the committee makes a decision, they send out a mail and an email. In that email, it says a decision has been made and that you can call for it. From what I got, if you didn't get accepted, you might not get that email? Don't quote me on this though!

Good Luck!!!!

Thank you guys for the reply. If it helps, this friend is actually a relative of mine, and he forwarded me the email, so I know it's legit 🙂 He interviewed Mar 6 and got the email Mar 29. Hopefully he hears good news 🙂

If I'm not mistaken, they can actually call Ms. Walk and she would let them know what the letter says. Hope that helps put your friend's mind at ease

Yep I interviewed around the same time and was accepted a week ago.

Thanks Sweetness!!

I'm hoping too, may we hear good news! 🙂

Is anyone anxiously waiting for a decision like me? When does the committee meet/ does anyone know when the next round of decisions will be made?

Yes, there are plenty of people who are waiting. I am not sure when the committee meets, but when they have met and made a decision, the admissions office will email you about it.

I am waiting for the decision too! 🙂

I received the email in the morning that my folder went through the committee and a decision has been made.

Hoping for the best. Would love to be at Howard for the next four years.

I submitted my secondary in December n have no heard a single thing from the school. Do they still have interviews through may or should I take it as a silent rejection..
I am thinking they r probably done for the year 🙁

Hey guys I received an interview invite this morning for 4/10. I'm sooooooo excited. Does anyone know the acceptance rate for students who interview at Howard. They sent a schedule for the day but what can I expect as far as the interview- what is the format, does the entire committee interview you or a couple of individuals? Would really appreciate some advice.

Congrats on your interview invite. I am not sure what the acceptance rate is for students who interview at Howard. The schedule that they provided is pretty much what the interview day is like and expect it to be pretty good.. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

For this cycle, April is the last month for interviews. You may still have a chance. Good luck!:luck:

If you got an interview then they must like you, because they've already sifted through tons of people and only interviews to select few so props! The day is really relax, you get to have lunch with students (like most schools) and find out more about the school. I absolutely loved the environment, the warmth, and my interview. It's all about a good fit, but Howard is very much family-like.

To prep, just be comfortable with yourself, be curious, polite and enjoy the day. Good luck!!

Very true but sometimes throughout this whole process it seems as if I'm not worthy. I hope I can relax enough to let my true self show. Thanks for all the advice.

Hey Botasky! Your def worthy!!! This process can really hard on you but your interview at Howard will be great! They invited you to an interview because they see the potential in you. The interview day is really straightforward and pleasant. I interviewed back in November. When it comes to your actual interview be prepared to talk about your strengths and weaknesses but most importantly you want to be able to convey your passion for medicine and all the things that the HCOM stands for. Also sdn has an forum or link where students share their interview experiences I found it really helpful.

Ok its not a forum or a link but here's a link to what I was referring to above. During my interview I wasn't asked any of the questions mentioned in this link, but it helped me to feel more prepared for the interview none the less.

My interview end up being more of a conversation about my passions, weaknesses, strengths, and future endeavors. Depending on your interviewer your experience may be different. GOOD LUCK 😀
