It came to my permanent
I received the email regarding my application under consideration the day after my interview. Is it a bad sign??
Does anyone know when IU will send out its first acceptances? Do they start on October 15th?
Do you guys think they mail acceptances/rejections to the preferred or permanent address on AMCAS?
I'm out of Indiana right now and was curious.
No, I meant WHICH address do they send it to? Preferred or permanent?
It came to my permanent
I just called the admissions office and asked them this question, and the lady who answered the phone seemed very confident that decision letters are sent to the PREFERRED address on AMCAS. Not sure why yours came to your permanent, but preferred address would be better for me anyways (hence the name "preferred" haha).
I called and made a special request for mine to be delivered to my preferred and my acceptance still went to my permanent... although the letter head was addressed to my preferred!
i just got a second interview invite for next wednesday! what does that mean? Did that happen to anyone else?

I got an email around 9/12 inviting me for an interview and asking for supplementary materials. I see on the status page that they received my materials but no interview date is set yet. for people who have interview dates, how long did you have to wait before getting an interview time?

Interviewing here on weds! Sooooo excited! I will be driving in from NY tomorrow night and staying at the hotel on campus. I am honored to be presented with this opportunity. Anyone else interviewing on weds too?
Yep, I'll be there!
Just got my Secondary/II. 3.79, 31 Q, OOS app. Was feeling really good till I read earlier in the thread about how tough they were on OOS candidates. No research background, but 80 hours shadowing and CNA job. Feeling like it's gonna be a waste of very limited money to do the app./interview so I can be swept under the rug. 🙁
Flyers, if you rent a room in the hotel, you can have the luggage stored in the counter
But an II is definitely a positive thing, even if IU is pretty tough on them. Will you have to buy a plane ticket or can you drive in?
So excited for tomorrow! 🙂
You're welcome. But call to double check before you book the room
2-part question:
1) Do you guys think IU will mail out the first batch of acceptances (non-EDP) on the 15th?
I'm just trying to figure out when I may get one (wishful thinking 🙂). I am OOS (~200 miles) right now, so I am wondering around when I can expect to get it?
2) Does anyone know if IU sends out post-interview rejections this early? i.e. if I get a letter in October, will it automatically be an acceptance?
Or maybe IU just wait-lists all in-staters who haven't gotten acceptances post-interview???
1) I would be willing to bet yes, although I believe that last year some people's letters were sent a couple of days after the 15th for the first batch. So if your letter is going out in the first batch, I would say it could be at least a week or so after the 15th for you to get it where you all (but this is all just conjecture)
2) More conjecture, but personally I doubt it. IU is notorious for holding onto applications for months and months before waitlisting or rejecting applications. The committee meets once a month, accepts a bunch of applicants and sends out letters. From what I understand, rejections from IU this early are possible but also not super common.
...So hopefully, expect a letter several days after the 15th with good news 🙂
I think I remember reading somewhere that the admissions office won't give decisions over the phone, but does anyone know if they can tell us if a decision has been made? (Just not what that decision is.)
Just had my interview today. Great experience, the actual interview was pretty low stress. All in all, today left me with a good feeling about the school. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the fact that many of the students I talked to did not seem to think as highly of the school, or be as happy, as I thought they would have.
Are you talking about the MS1 or MS2s at Indy? Or other students interviewing the same day?
If it was current med students, mind sharing if there was anything in particular they didn't seem to like about IU?
I was talking about the current med students. There wasn't one that I talked to that was extremely happy about the school. All were very so-so about it, some mentioning how depressed they were there first two years.I mean don't take it the wrong way, this was a VERY VERY small sample size and a lot may depend on the person but it just didn't leave me with a great feeling.
However I still loved the school and it still remains one of my top choices. I think I would be extremely happy here.

is anyone else having trouble logging on to check the status of your application? i interviewed 9/5, went on yesterday to check and it says "please contact admissions office." called and the secretary said they are having tech issues and she would get back to me but hasn't yet... i know committee doesn't meet until the 15th but still wanted to see status!
