OMG! Accepted!!!!!! Just got the letter in the mail today!!!!! I live in Indianapolis and interviewed 9/12.
Stats: 3.75, Mcat 29. Was rejected last year with 28 and had a very stressful interview the first time. I felt like they were grilling me and tried to make jokes to lighten the tension, but I guess they weren't that funny. My second interview was much better and my interviewer just wanted to get to know me. I actually felt happy going out of that interview. Still, I was very nervous and worried that I wouldn't hear back soon and would have to wait until May to find out that I was rejected again, so I was moody all yesterday. haha. I also felt like my improvement in the mcat was really insignificant (and still do) even though I studied really really hard. This was actually my third mcat (27, 28, 29) so honestly, I suck at the stupid test and didn't think it would help my admissions decision much. But I guess I'm not all that bad if IU wants me so people with lower stats, don't be too depressed! I hope my news bring you hope!

Congratulations!!

It is so nice to hear your story. I took the MCAT 3 times as well and it worried me if IU would look poorly on it. Now I just wish I wouldn't have applied so late!! They verified having received my application 9/26 and I am not a fan of this waiting game for an interview invite. Fingers crossed!

For those of you who have received acceptance letter, do you see a change of status in the application portal? Or is it still under consideration?

Mine never changed from under consideration.

Thanks everyone! My status on the portal still says "Under Consideration." I'm sure you all will hear good news this year. Your stats are better than mine and as long as you did reasonably well on the interview, you should get in!!

It's past noon on October 18th and only one non-EDP person on SDN has gotten an acceptance???

Dude, you're IS, with a 35 MCAT. Unless you BOMBED the interview, you're in. Go grab a beer and celebrate or something. It's coming. 🙂

I have a non-EDP, non-SDNer friend who has received his letter. I know they're out there somewhere!

Where does he live?

Hope you're right, but I'm not going to celebrate until I have an acceptance letter in hand. No one is guaranteed anything in this process and I will be neurotic and pessimistic until absolutely proven otherwise, i.e. with an acceptance in hand. Do you know how many people told me that I would receive a bunch of interviews "real soon" a few months ago when I received my 35? Well, I haven't gotten A SINGLE II since I received my 2nd MCAT score.

I appreciate the encouragement though. I hope you get accepted in a couple weeks as well!

No, just certain Wednesdays. There were no suits here yesterday.

during the interview, my interviewer said its a pretty random process of when you are presented to the committee and i will expected to get a decision from them anytime between now and may. I am not sure how true this is 😕

I got something similar from my interviewer as well

Non-EDP acceptances for 1 person on SDN and 1 non-SDNer. Did the committee even meet this month??

Did everyone who has already interviewed receive a "eligible for review" email?

First post here on SDN - accepted to IUSM yesterday! I called the admissions office and they told me over the phone, so for those of you who haven't heard I highly recommend calling as they are very nice. Stats: IS, 29N, 3.4s and 3.5c undergrad GPA, 3.75 grad GPA.

First of all, congrats! Second, that's so weird they told me straight up they don't give out decisions over the phone. Third, when did you interview?

Yeah from what I understand with IU, there are so many applications to sift through post interview that when the committee meets every month, they basically look at all the applications with the top stats and don't even look at most of the other ones. Not necessarily that they won't look at you yet if you have lower stats, but the higher the stats the earlier you will be reviewed (especially after the first month or two of interviews - ie, now)

So no word doesn't mean that they have looked at your app and decided to wait. It can very well mean that they just didn't get to it that month, whether or not you interviewed early. Obviously the earlier you interview, the better. But no word with IU definitely isn't necessarily bad news yet.

Thanks, I guess I will have to wait for a while. 🙄

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Accepted! Omg. omg!
For years I have been thinking about what my "acceptance" post on SDN would be, and to tell you the truth, I don't really know what to write here.

All I can say is that it is an amazing feeling, four years of stress and worrying has been lifted off of my shoulders. Thank you IU, I love you! I am grateful to everyone who has helped me along this amazing journey, including all of you on SDN who have provided me with encouragement and advice, especially when I was feeling down. I don't want to sound too mushy, but I am very emotional right now. There were so many nights I spent lying in bed doubting whether I would get into medical school, and now it's all over. Wow. Good luck to all those who are still applying, I hope you all get in!

Still can't believe it. Still in shock. I'm going to be a doctor!

It's posts like these that make this whole process seem worth it. That joy of all that hard work over the years culminating in something extremely special and joyous. Congrats!!!! I hope everyone here will enjoy the same joy! I know I cannot wait for that feeling.

Congratulations!! I've been hoping for a letter this week, as well, seeing that I interviewed back on 9/5. I'm an IS reapplicant, so i'm really hoping I don't have to wait all year to hear back from IU. I called the admissions office this morning and they would not give me a decision over the phone, said my application is still under consideration. Did you call them, and if so, did they just tell you straight up that you got in?

Thanks!

I called them and they asked to verify my AMCAS ID. The lady just said "Congratulations, you have a letter on its way. You've been accepted!" Followed by and episode of silence because I was completely speechless. It was a little awkward but I'm sure she probably expected that haha. Good luck to you!!!

called and she was super nice but i was told no decision was made on mine yet because there were a particularly large number of applications to go over this month. i guess here comes more waiting...

When were you interviewed if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks!

Congrats everyone on the acceptances! I'm interviewing at IU on November 7th and staying over the night before on the 6th. Does anyone know if IU has a student hosting system? I'd really rather not spend another 100$ on a hotel.

I am interviewing the 7th as well 🙂 Finally got the email today after what seemed like a very long 5 weeks.

I am a reapplicant, and if I remember correctly from last year, they will send an email and ask if anyone wants to be connected with a student host to let them know. (someone correct me if this has changed)

Congrats on the II and good luck!

i was interviewed 9/5. the lady said there were no particular notes on my file as to why they didn't make a decision.. just that they were unexpectedly "busy" on oct. 15th. and it will get rolled to the next month. anyway, congrats to those who are feeling immense relief from acceptance!

Congratulations to everyone who's been accepted!!!!! It'll be great seeing all of you next year!
And to those who haven't heard anything yet, hang in there!

Extremely proud of you! My wife went to medical school at IU and loved it. I've been following your posts for a while on here, and am so genuinely happy for you.

Congratulations indeed.

Did you end up receiving a letter then, or did you call??

Oh yeah, sorry about not answering the calling/letter thing, I'v been really busy telling everyone the good news and I forgot about answering that question.

So I called the office (for the second time, the first time they said they wouldn't give me that kind of info over the phone), and the lady told me I got accepted and that my letter was in the mail. I have heard from a few people on SDN that they were also able to get the acceptance decision over the phone, but I have seen many more people say that they weren't able to. I guess it kind of depends on who answers the phone and what kind of mood they're in? So I guess the lesson is you can try calling, but don't expect any thing for sure. Anyways, for those waiting for letters they should arrive at least by early next week, right? (I'm still waiting for the hard-copy proof, haha)

Thanks. Haha I feel you there! I was lucky to have them tell me over the phone but of course am still waiting for the hard copy. No letter here yet.

I forgot if this year they were doing something different or not, but does anyone know,

1) how soon after acceptance can you submit campus preferences?
2) when do they announce campus decisions?
