I interviewed in October and haven't heard anything since. You are KILLING me, Sinai 🙁

Is it safe to assume that if we have not heard back yet for an II that we are out of luck? Complete lat August.

Some one else complete late August got an interview invite within the past week (see the above posts). I think that means that they might still be sending out invites. :xf:

What I took from it: Icahn/Sinai has at least one, maybe more, programs students can matriculate through into the school's MD program. The Humanities and Medicine program (Humed) is one of them.

So the school's class of ~140 isn't all from the AMCAS application system (which also includes MD/PhD students I believe?), although I am unsure how many came from the system itself.

This year, we had ~10 MD/PhDs and ~30 HuMeds, leaving ~100 in the AMCAS pool. The planned expansion of the college admit program would not happen until next cycle at the earliest, and it would not impact the AMCAS pool for another two cycles since those students are admitted as sophomores.

Just got invited today for an interview at the end of February. Submitted my secondary on August 24th. So, if you submitted around that time, don't give up yet!

I'd pretty much thought I was done with interviews, but I guess not! 😀

Same here, got an interview invite yesterday around 10am for Feb 5th. I submitted my secondary mid October. 32R 3.4cGPA NYC Resident

I called them last week during one of the days designated to answer applicant inquiries and was told that no decision had been made about my application, and that the file will remain open until the first week of March - when the interview season is over.

Anyone get an MD-PhD interview invite recently, or are they all done with that? Was complete in September so not sure if it is time to give up hope yet. I thought they would at least move my application to the MD-only pile by now if I were rejected from the mstp program...

Stats?

Ps you guys- make sure you're checking your SPAM folders.... My interview invite was in there!!!! Happened to a friend, too.

Just checked my spam as a result of this post and saw an interview invitation - bro five for the save!

Is there any other way to see if you've received an II? Just in case the email did end up in my spam and got deleted

[email protected]

but I never received any responses

I was told during the interview that updates are welcome, but they do not respond to update submissions.

Don't give up! I submitted early August too, completed my secondary in mid September. Interview Invite December, accepted early January!

PM for stats. MCAT score was lower than Sinai's astronomical average, but I'm certain my activities made up for it.

anywhere else a II could show up? not on the portal right? highly doubt i would've deleted it from my spam, but i do clear my spam quite often...

39S/4.0 (although my first 2 years of undergrad were at a school that doesn't use letter grades so those are all from junior year). Oh, and I'm from out of state.

My email is addressed from: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai <[email protected]>. You might want to search for that email address.

I just got the PORTAL email as well. Are they just sending that out to everyone? I have zero clinical research experience so I was a little confused when I got the email. Wish there were more opportunities for full scholarships for those of us who don't want to be researchers. Oh well.

Due to a recent acceptance I have decided to cancel my interview and withdrawal my app from this awesome school. Hopefully someone else can get that interview spot. Good luck to all of you in this thread!

Congrats! Where were you accepted, if you don't mind saying?

Haha thank you! I was accepted to U Pitt and U of Chicago. I really wanted to check out Mount Sinai but I figured the polite thing to do is to let someone else have a chance at getting in here since the other two schools were two of my favorites.

Wow, that was very nice of you. Congrats on your acceptances!

interviewing here soon...what's the point? feel like this late in the game, its either waitlist or reject

If you really don't want to go, don't go. I figured it's worth the $150 it costs to fly out to NYC and stay with some friends for a few days even if I don't get in (and even if I get in, I almost certainly wouldn't go unless they offered me a bangin' scholarship because I've already been accepted somewhere much cheaper), but if it's not worth it for you, don't go.

nah, i'll prob go. but from what I hear, mount Sinai interviews are really laid back....so I really doubt interviews matter that much.

Just because they're laid back (which they are) does not mean they don't matter much (they do).

Also, I'm pretty sure Mount Sinai keeps spots open throughout the process. They wouldn't interview you if they didn't have any spots at all, so you're not necessarily interviewing just for a spot on the wait list or a rejection.

Rejected today, after months of silence. Oh well, not meant to be. But did anyone know that the school is actually called the Icahn SOM?? Never heard of that name til today o.o

It changed a few months ago after a big donation came in.

What a kind rejection email. Classy, Sinai, classy.

Did these rejections come by email? Just wondering where to look for mine.

+1 for the rejection train. Even a little bit of "hey you don't suck" in the email would have been nice though haha

What did it say? Anyone mind sharing?

My friend got it today and forwarded it to me. She and I have been through and through with each other over this process, it's been a loooong 8 months!

I regret to inform you that you will not be offered a place at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai for the upcoming year. Please appreciate the fact that we received a large number of highly qualified applicants for a limited number of seats in our class. These decisions are difficult to make because of the sheer number of impressive applicants.

I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors and we hope for you much success in your professional life. Thank you genuinely for your interest in our school.

Sincerely,

Valerie Parkas, MD
Associate Dean for Admissions

Rejected pre-interview by e-mail! oh welllllll

Has Mount Sinai sent any other emails, other than the first "you have successfully submitted your online application to the MD Program..." one, pre-interview? I didn't receive an email from another school (no emails in spam/trash) and am wondering if this is also happening with Mount Sinai (just waiting for that rejection!)
