Are you serious? LOL. Find your own place then. Pests are a fact of life in urban city living, get over it.
I am well aware that pests are a fact life in NYC -- but that doesn't mean your housing has to be completely overrun by them. I have friends who went to NYU and yes, they saw a few roaches here and there in the dorms (in the laundry room for example), but they were far from overrun by pests. Some places do a better job at mitigating pests than others. I am aware that if I lived in NYC I would see pests outside and inside and that no one can eliminate them -- only control them to a degree.

hehehehehe. You have huge roaches, we have huge waterbugs. In fact, they are known to, and will, clog up the faucet. The biggest problem in housing is the chupacabra, but don't worry, they are essentially the fetus of the big foot.
What do you think a waterbug is? It's an American or oriental cockroach depending on who you ask. And yes, I am aware that they climb up drain pipes. They live in city sewer systems (and do invade structures).

Accepted! Interviewed late January! Congrats all!

essentially waitlisted, very disappointed but its certainly better than a rejection!
anyone have an idea about the waitlist movement or ways in which we can get off the waitlist.
I really loved this school and everything it had to offer but unfortunately I was not accepted outright 🙁

To give you a real answer, I've been in Aron Hall since August and have seen a spider once. That's it.

So just to be clear, has anyone been rejected post-interview yet? Or have all non-accepted interviewees received the "continued consideration" letter?

Sooo...I sent in my secondary in early September or so. Is it weird to have not heard anything? It looks like plenty of folks have gotten rejected, but am I really still potentially in the running for an interview at this point?

I sent in mine in August and haven't heard anything either.

I should probably just withdraw. I can't really afford more interviews at this point and living in NYC is too expensive.

Pretty sure someone posted back in December saying they had been rejected post-interview. My question is has anyone been accepted after the continued consideration letter

no love from OHSU? it would be so sweet to go there...

I've lived in Aron Hall now almost 2 years. Pests in NYC varies widely depending on how your building is kept more than anything else. You'll see rats in the subway tunnels but that doesn't mean your building will definitely have rats. We don't have any bugs in our apartment (same goes for my friends' apartments as far as I know).

Also, bedbugs are a big deal in NYC. If there's a bedbug infestation I think it has to be reported or something like that. Aron Hall is definitely aware of this problem and I think you're actually not allowed to bring in couches or mattresses that isn't store brought into this apartment building because they're scared of bedbugs.

Basically, there's absolutely nothing you need to worry about. We're not living in the jungles at NYC 😉

Also for everyone still waiting, Sinai interviews till the first week of March, so we're rapidly coming down to the end. I can't speak for the office but I'd imagine that most of the interview spots are probably filled considering we have about 10 or so interview days left.

No news is no news, but it's better than bad news. You're probably still under review, but it's coming down to the final days. Good luck! 🙂

Just as an FYI for everyone still curious - there are 12 interview days left, Tuesday to Friday every week till 3/8.

Thank you, both, for your genuine replies. Lots of rats running around where I live and large American roaches and oriental roaches (aka Palmettos/waterbugs) running the street. But not too many indoor pests. Also, I know far more about BBs than I'd want to know -- never had them though and not paranoid about them. Pests affect one's quality of life (that's why exterminators are in business), so that's why I ask. Again, thanks for the replies.

DrSolus, you can KMA.

I got the "application still being considered" email today. Has anybody heard any news after getting this email?

Pretty sure that in the past pages people that get this status don't get an immediate acceptance, but you should click through and use the search function to make sure.

no, we definitely do not get an immediate acceptance, but the question we're asking is: is this status a death sentence or is it possible to actually come off the list later? It could just be a way of rejecting an applicant without actually rejecting him/her since i have not heard of a documented case of some one receiving this status update and actually getting accepted (granted, this is the first year they are using this system, but still......🙁

I interviewed on the first or second interview date of the season, and I got that letter as well. Still have not heard anything back. Sent a letter to them, and didn't get a confirmation e-mail either. Very frustrating to deal with Icahn to say the least

interviewed early Feb, no status email or anything. but then again, its probably too soon

I'm pretty sure that's just Sinai's version of a wait list. I was talking to an admissions committee member about this earlier this year, and if I remember correctly, she was saying how they don't think of it as a wait list, per se, but more as a pool of applicants who are still in the running for admission should spots open up. To me, it sounds exactly like a wait list. But don't worry, they definitely use the wait list; they'll be drawing from it throughout the next few months and well into the summer.

It seems like it is a "waitlist" before the waitlist period. I think a proper waitlist is one they start pulling applicants from AFTER the admission period (which is around April?) is over but I think this is more so a pool of applicants that can be admitted if a certain number of admitted applicants withdraw before the admission period ends.

^^Me trying to make sense of a process that can make very little sense at times, so take my word with a very small grain of salt.

I think it is a good sign regardless though.

Thanks guys for the replies
care to elaborate on how its a good sign?
since no one gets rejected (or virtually no one) post interview, it seems that its just a nicer way of rejecting someone without the benefits of a ranked waitlist; in my opinion, its worse than a waitlist

I don't think that its a good sign at all. Its just very frustrating to be kept in the dark for 5 months without a peep.

Interview Invite just now..

Can anyone comment (I'll look back also) as to whether I would be interviewing for a WL or have a legitimate chance of an acceptance? reason I ask is that I'm currently deep in the trenches finishing up my PhD thesis writing and would like to know that I have a reasonable chance...

edit: for those who care, I was offered March 5th.

i believe march 8th is the last interview date. for what its worth, Sinai is a rolling admissions school, and you can probably assume that by march, >75% of acceptances have already gone out.

Huge congrats! Hopefully some of that interview love shifts over my way 😍

alright.. saw that too.... US News has the following stats regarding international applicants.. so taking that in consideration, I think it's best if I attend.. especially since I haven't had many IIs.

Applied: 716
Interviewed: 24
Accepted: 12

thanks so much goobs. it's been a very quiet cycle, so its great to get some good news for a change

practice practice practice and KILL the interview. especially this late in the game, you need to be spectacularly spectacular. some applicants that interviewed way early probably have had their applications reviewed multiple times, and you probably wont get that luxury.

no pressure 😛

Is it weird that I haven't heard anything yet, either rejection or interview invite, after being complete since August?

After sending in the PORTAL application are we supposed to get an acknowledgement? I sent mine in but there was no response from mt sinai...i wanna make sure I could have that portal interview since I already wrote the apps....

and also how is the PORTAL interview? I heard that MD interviews r open file, 2 half hour and pretty chill..wat about PORTAL? thanksss

Does anyone know if Mount Sinai couples housing is subsidized? I asked because I requested a housing questionnaire and on the page where it lists Mount Sinai properties, the prices seem very similar to market prices for the area. For example, 1k sq ft 2 bedroom is about $2700 a month. Just wondering if these are the real prices.

And maybe this is cheaper than market and I am just misinformed.

Wow. they told me on the interview that it was around 1200. I hope they are subsidized! :/

I received the acceptance package yesterday, so check your mailboxes! (For those accepted on Feb 13th) It says to send an email to acknowledge receipt of the acceptance letter.

:meanie: Anyway, congratulations on your acceptance and also to all the other newly accepted! Has anyone found the accepted students facebook link yet by any chance? Someone pointed out that it was in one of the acceptance emails, but the link was an image so you couldn't click on it. 🙄
