Interview invite this morning! Complete 8/28. They let you choose from six dates, which is oh so nice.
Stats if anyone cares: MCAT 34 (don't even remember my essay score😛) GPA 3.6

:luck::luck::luck::luck: to all still waiting!

AHHH congrats! I was complete 8/28 too so maybe today is finally the day!!!! :xf:

Got an II this morning!! My general stats are in MDapps and I was complete 10/31. Definitely wasn't expecting to hear back so soon; very happy 😀

Anyone get an II with a 29 mcat? I have a 29q and 3.6. In-state. Submitted secondary in August and haven't heard yet...

Hey Guys!

Does anyone know if this school does a salience rejection or do they notify you by e-mail if you were not invited for an interview? Thanks in advance and best of luck in this cycle.

I got a rejection letter in the mail over the weekend pre-interview. Complete at the beginning of August. Good luck to everyone else!

Wow, sorry to hear that. They didn't email you or notify you electronically at all?

Nope, just a letter via postal mail. My status page still says I am complete and under review and has not been updated.

How long where you under review before you got the letter. I have been under review since September 19th and haven't heard a peep. Anybody in the same boat?

Complete and under review since August...and nothing.

Does anyone know or anyone who has done the MMI at NYMC remember if you get to write notes down while you read each question, and bring them in to the room with you?

Does anyone know the answer to this? Or are you not allowed to say?

No, you don't get to write notes during the 2 minutes between stations and bring them into the room with you. I think the point of the short time between stations is to make sure that you don't get to rehearse your response.

so i know that you get accepted via email, but for waitlist and rejection are they both through a letter in the mail or do you get emailed?

Did anyone who was completed on 10/24 heard anything yet ?

So I am very confused with the status page. I had finished my secondary/gave in my fee/ and my letters of rec were on file for my amcas application and all of this was complete by 10/2 however i checked my status page today it says that my application is complete now, 11/24/2012 and is being review? Was there really that long a time before the application was at complete status for everyone after submitting all the necessary information? Or did I mess up somewhere?

Also, approximately how long after the complete status did people start to hear back in terms of getting an interview or not?

So true....I second this...I completed in Sept and I know my letters were submitted in August and it says as of 11/15 you are complete ...and under review....I am really puzzled as well

Where is the post with the video? Couldn't find it

Sent from my phone

just rejected via email notification! Complete mid september or so. Goodluck with the rest of the cycle guys!

I have been under review since 9/19 and was rejected today.

Good luck everyone!!

how poorly do you have to do in the interview to get rejected post-interview here?
I interviewed on 11/19 and thought I did ok (didn't mess up any station too badly). I'm really hoping for an acceptance as NYMC may be my only shot at an acceptance this cycle...

Same here, complete early/mid September, called a few times since then and was told every time that I was complete and under review. I went onto my status page about a week or so ago and it suddenly had me complete as of THAT day. Really confusing.....

Did you check to see the date when your payment was received and when your letters were received on the secondary site?

Yep, payment was marked received 9/11/12, letters not marked received & file complete until 11/15/12. However, myy letters were sent from AMCAS the same time I paid the secondary app fee.

In retrospect I think that I bombed 2-3 stations (did ok on the others) and got wait-listed...I think you'd have to do reallllyyy bad to get rejected.

interviewed today, very nice school and program...but 8-10 weeks is gonna be killer!

My friend and I applied at the same time, and he was "complete" in two weeks. For me, it took six weeks. NYMC seems very variable, but it's still an impressive school.

Hello everyone!

I would like to share some of my thoughts on this school so far as a first year:

Pros:

1. Material we are learning is manageable as long as you stay on top of your studies. There is a scribe program and some recorded lecture/powerpoints. (I did well in the first block with a militarized study schedule)
2. Housing is fairly cheap. NYMC accommodates for students who have families and give priorities to them. There are no electric/gas/internet bills (yay!)
3. All professors have an open door policy and are very receptive to students. They do help out if you ask.
4. There are some great faculty/doctors and they are usually open to bring you to their meetings or shadowing opportunities. (My preceptor experience has been very intriguing so far).

Cons:

1. NYMC is behind on updated technology. Things like copy/email function on copiers, podcasts (an issue for those who want to manage their time efficiently), and blocked ports and speed of housing internet are the big ones for me.
2. The gym is not "state of the art" if Tony Sozzo told you so. There is no bench or squat rack. So if you go to the gym regularly, you might have to join some other gym.
3. NYMC is out in the boonies. There is public transportation/trains but that can get expensive if you go out 2 times a week. Bring your car.
4. 2016 became the guinea pig with a new curriculum. The Foundations of Clinical Medicine course has some issues with organization since there are 4 combined courses in it.

I can't give you guys any information on MMIs because I didn't go through that process. All I can say is enjoy your interview cycle and do lots of fun things since you are limited on time in medical school.

I'm pretty busy at the moment so I will only drop by once in a blue moon. Don't count on me responding to any PMs in a timely manner.

complete 8/28 called today and all the guy said was "we interview till april, bye"

What about a curling rack?

For people who have interviewed and already heard back, did it really take 8-12 weeks to hear back? thanks

II today! 🙂

C: 10/10
Available dates: Late January

Don't hold your breath -_- Complete since late August. Roar.

Hah-- gauging from my quinnipiac interview decision being after everyone who submitted later than I did, you might be right
