I only filled out 2-3 sections of this secondary... I don't have EC's for some of the other categories. Anyone else in the same boat?

Same.

Also, does working in a private lab as an assistant count as "active research"?

No pubs or presentations or anything, don't even have my own project... But what I do contributes.

ive been working in a lab for about a year now just helping out some grad students etc, but as of last week I was given my own project so I did put yes to research experience, but I did not check off pubs, presentations, posters.

Also, I received a few merit scholarships, and I got an award from my major department when I graduated, should I put that down under the "other" honor sections, and describe it? I already put it down in my AMCAS application.
Can anyone help me with this?

Not sure why you need so much hand holding through this. If you think its relevant, put it there. They're not going to reject you if a merit scholarship isn't "exactly" what they were looking for there. Don't repeat verbatim from amcas tho.

Paranoia sets in, when you're filling out something that's so important to your future. I'll leave it in.

Well you are basing decisions on the advice from ppl who are in the same position as you. Your own judgment is as good as any of ours

Just seeking advice from everyone else, and how they are tackling that section, that's all. I'm just not sure if "other" means any other kind of award, or only in the same vein as those other types of awards.

lol so they want us to MAIL in the signature page + payment?

So, I just realized that you can't submit the application unless you check one of those research boxes, if you selected yes. That's problematic for people like me who were research assistants, but it wasn't in any of those capacities.

That's what I posted earlier. I emailed them that I had research but couldn't put it on the secondary.

I just put "No" -- after all, it's on the AMCAS primary anyway. But I agree that it's a little annoying.

For some reason, the rushsupp is not working for me right now. The page isn't even loading.

Can someone please post the questions, so I can start working on my essay answers?

THANKS!

DAMN it's not working for me either! it must be down? I was just about to go to the library and print off that signature page. dammmmit

Just submitted and dropped off the signature page at the post office. I changed my answer for the research question to "no" because they'll be able to see my research entry on AMCAS. Gl everyone!

Hello Friends,

So ... I was filling out this secondary and then I had to stop at LOR section.

My university actually sends the packet with a pre-health committee letter. So my packet will have committee letter and other 4 LORs. So what option should I choose in Rush application?

Should I choose that 2 most important LOR option or the pre-health committee letter option??

Any reply will be very helpful.

Thanks!

You are supposed to pick the two most important. I believe it says so somewhere in the application instructions.

I just picked committee letter, since that's the one I want them to read.

Is there an official "submit" button for this app? Or is it considered submitted if we entered answers in every section? This website is confusing me

Thanks guys for your inputs. I really appreciate it.

I also emailed them asking the same questions. Let's see what they will say! :)

What am I missing here? I'm not sure why you wouldn't choose committee letter option. That was the whole point of getting it, no?

Submitted, just need to mail everything in now haha.

not a fan of the Rush LOR max, i feel like it puts the non-committee applicants at a disadvantage

^ +1 I am wondering what two letters to list: they are going to receive a letter packet with 5 letters. However, deep in their website, it says that they must be from two science faculty. I went to a large public school and so I know that my other letters will be stronger than my science ones.

Should I just list the science ones anyway, even though the secondary itself doesnt specify what type of letters?

They didn't specifically ask for science letters. On the contrary, it sounded like they wanted letters from people who know you pretty well. I just picked my two strongest.

sayyyyy whaaaaaaa. ugh LORs have to be one of the most frustrating aspects of this whole thing. letterhead/signatures/science dates/*****hole professors blah blah blah.

Same.

Figures. Do you mind letting us know what they say?

Yup, I will as soon as they get back to me.

Rush students are all about helping each other.

Sounds like a great atmosphere, definitely what I'm looking for in a med school. Could you possibly tell me (us, I guess) more about the atmosphere there or other things you like about it?

Thanks!

So, does the LOR requirement not have to be science letters? I know for a fact that my personal letters are most likely strongest, (school official, and MD), should I put those as the two they will process? (bc they will receive my packet of 5)

It's the #2 hospital in Chicago, after Northwestern. I don't think rankings are that important, but it doesn't hurt haha (I linked it earlier in the thread).

It's in Chicago, which is one of the greatest cities ever. Not only does it have awesome museums, hospitals, theaters etc... The people are ridiculously friendly/Midwestern. I will admit to being biased because I'm from the Chicagoland, but I'm fairly well traveled. The only cities I'd describe as friendlier are in Ireland. The location of Chicago is great as well I think, and it has two airports which can get you anywhere you need to go.

It's the orthopedic center for the Bulls and White Sox. Not only is Rush studly for ortho, but we get discounts to certain games. :)

It has a nice library. Seems kinda silly to point out, but UIC's library in comparison is so bad that they come use ours (I've heard from both Rush and UIC students on that point since I'm a rising m1).

I'm just legitimately in love with my class, and the M2's are amazing as well. Our facebook group is well-frequented to ask things from where to live/finding roomies, what books to buy, deadlines (We register this week!), social events (we've had several already) and basically anything you can think of.:love::love:

Feel free to ask more questions if I failed to address something.

Thanks a ton! Seems like a great place to be.... hoping to get good news back from Rush whenever my committee letter finally gets in...!

Hi all :D

Did anyone's status change to 'complete'? I mailed my signature form and fee last Thursday, but still it says they did not receive it :(

Mine has not changed to complete either, and I mailed my signature form and fee last Thursday as well. I'm guessing they're just moving slow. I wouldn't worry about it.

Same, I mailed mine last Thursday from downtown Chicago, and mine still says they haven't gotten my forms yet. I read somewhere on their site that we should expect to wait a couple of weeks from the time the forms arrive at the Medical Center until it is marked as "received."

@cubbies823 @Irish Football
Thank you ;)

Give it time. Patience is a virtue. ;-) haha I know it is hard but they receive thousands of apps and have to log them in. Don't expect it to happen in a few days. Call if it takes more than two or three weeks and be uber nice and polite.

@cubbies

Ew. Wrong school. ;-)

I am a Southsider...

For the rush secondary when they ask about accomplishments and honors...

do you think listing certifications are relevant here?

For example, I am was selected by the hospital where I used to work to attend a Dialectical Behavior Therapy training program where on completion I received DBT certification.

Should i include that in this section??? ANY advice would be appreciated!

Keep in mind I am not an applicant and cant access the supplemental.

If it is on your AMCAS at all I dont think you need it since RMC will look at that too.

If it is not on your AMCAS then find somewhere to include it. This might be the most relevant place but since I cant see the app then I cannot speak definitively to that.

They emailed me back today, but didn't really say anything.. Basically they said "Well we received your secondary so you must have figured it out."

I emailed them again re-explaining (hopefully more clearly) the question. Will update when I can.

thanks for your help!

they only allow 500 characters, so I guess it makes sense to not waste space repeating stuff.

Haha... oh man.. thanks mate. That's too funny. I'll submit Monday if they don't respond with something... a tad more substantial next time.
