Does anyone know if how Tulane looks on service/being interested in community health (like if it gives you an edge). I know that as an Americorps Volunteer they waived my application fee but I was really hoping for Tulane because I heard they were very much interested in people who wanted to help the less fortunate (I am an americorps volunteer in a health care clinic for the homeless).

PMed you.

I submitted my payment on 9/9 and just got a "complete" email today. What gives? Did anyone else have to wait a month before they got their confirmation?

I got excited thinking I was getting an interview, now I'm just annoyed

yep- took me a full month plus change.

so now we wait for another email!

Does anyone know if all of T1 and T2 are graded p/f? Also, are grades based on a curve for the first two years?

True P/F? Or Honors, High Pass, Pass, Fail?

If you read the course syllabi, they say a 70% and above is a pass, 65-69 conditional pass, and less than 65 fail. Conditional pass and fail must be repeated.

True P/F. I'm pretty sure 3rd and 4th year is Honors/High Pass/Pass/Fail, not totally sure about that though.

It is P/F for years 1 and 2, but your "class quadrant" will still appear on your Dean's Letter for residency apps. And yes, 3rd and 4th year are always graded Honors/HP/P/F (at every school).

Thank you all for responding. I prefer P/F for MS1 & MS2, so that just adds to Tulane's appeal for me. Man, I really hope they offer me an interview. :-o

Does anyone know how many students actually get accepted every year? Not how many matriculate.

Just interviewed here (literally) and its a wonderful school. Interview day was super laid back and relaxing. Programs here seem amazing and everyone is really nice. Please pick me Tulane! Good luck to those waiting!

Applied Early Decision, got my acceptance email 9/1, got my official letter 9/9. Good luck to everyone!

I got an interview for that same day! I'm very excited about it too. Flight's are very expensive though. Where are you thinking of staying?

Best of luck,
wlodajo

Not sure, in the II email it was mentioned they'd send an addendum email detailing travel / hotel information, but I never got the addendum email... just a response confirming my attendance. Did anyone get it? And if so, mind posting it / PMing it to me??

still not a peep from Tulane and complete 8/8. . . really wish there were a way to check my status with this school.

Thanks! I interview on Friday. (Will any of you be there with me?) I read it's pretty laid back. What did you think?

I sent an email saying I never received and they were pretty quick about getting it to me. I'll PM it to you.

Wow, congratulations! I've been waiting for news since 7/27, I hope I have similar good news soon!

II at last, after being complete over two months.

It was definitely laid back. If anything, the interviews are maybe a little too short, 20 minutes or so, which I felt was a little inadequate to really share with them who I am. So maybe think very carefully about what your really want them to know about you. Also, interviews are completely blind, I don't think they even see your essays. Good luck!

My interview in September was with two faculty and one student. One faculty interview lasted an hour, the other 30 minutes. The student interview lasted maybe 20 minutes before the student had to run to class.

sorry to hear that - may I ask when you guys were complete?

aaaand, still nothing here. . . hopefully it means an interview, eventually

this is my perpetual state of being completed since late august and only have heard from 3 schools (well i was put on rereview at another)

Tulane oh Tulane. The admin here is so disorganized! The lady who is supposed to email the "addendum with hotel and transportation information" never got back to me. I re-emailed her a WEEK before my interview, and then she gave me the needed info. At my interview, many interviewees also noted the same unresponsiveness, and because of it, were unable to stay with a student host. A few other interviewees also noted that the administration was extremely rude on the phone.

As for my interview day, they gave me the wrong room number for BOTH of my faculty interviews... my first faculty interview, I went to their office 10 minutes in advance (THANK GOD) and the people in the building told me that the room number was a YEAR outdated. Come on....

Also heard from students that their curriculum is undergoing constant updating, but because of that it's been very disorganized, and in addition, one student didn't receive a financial aid refund for over 6 months.

Besides the negs, the weather is great, food is great, culture is great. But that's not why we're going to medical school is it? sighhhh :/

Can anyone tell me some good reasons to go to Tulane? I'm trying to do the secondary.

Man it looks like Tulane is making moves today.

Anyone had any luck rescheduling their interview here? I just received an II (complete 8/16), but will be out of the country on my date. The email had a scary message about no rescheduling, but the website said they will try to work with our schedules. I guess I'll see which is correct after they email me back.

I was complete here 7/27 and FINALLY got an interview invite today. Everyone else who's been waiting around for awhile, don't give up hope yet!

i did. it was difficult and took forever, but it happened.

I'm probably not doing this right at all, but longtime lurker, first time poster. II today and soo excited. Did not think my uneven MCAT and my lackluster GPA would get me anywhere: 13V, 12B, 7(yikes!)P; 3.4/3.4. Got my B.A. in Film and spent several years working in special education. Complete 8/21, yay low stats slipping under the radar!

II today OOS 12 B 11 P 9 V, 3.65 Biochem/History double major.

Does anyone remember if Tulane said decisions will come out on the 15th or 16th?

+1... For some reason I thought it was the 17th, but there's wiggle room because they snail mail letters.

EDIT: From their website--
Acceptances:
October 15 (rolling, thereafter)
Early decision (October 1)
