If you stick to that 1-3 hours a day you could probably handle it. Otherwise, you'll be playing catch up, possibly on a paper or working on a group project. There was a GCHB 6030 online section with group projects. That was a terrible idea, IMO. Thing to keep in mind is, you need to keep a 3.0 average in the MPH school to stay in the combined program, and if you make like, lower than a C I think you have to retake the class.

Hey y'all, I have a question about loans but haven't heard back from the financial aid office -- is there a period during which I can return federal (grad plus) loans I take out with no penalty/interest accrued/fees/etc? Like, within the first 30 days of disbursement or something like that? Alternately, if I don't accept my full award and find myself strapped for cash due to some unforeseen circumstance later this year, can I request the rest of what was initially offered?

Thanks for any info!

Will be withdrawing. Hopefully my spot goes to one of you waitlisters! Good luck 🙂

1st question) maybe. You are allowed and able to pay off your loan while you are in medical school. It depends on the type of loan if interest starts accruing immediately or not. You'll have to talk to the financial aid office to inquire about your specific circumstance, but if you think you might borrow less money than you need, then you should see the answer to your second question.

2nd question) If you don't accept your full award at the start of the semester, you can get the rest later in the semester. Quite a few current students have done this. It is also pretty easy to get supplemental loans later in the year (up to the estimated cost of attendance). Emergency funds and computer allowances are also available on a case-by-case basis through the financial aid office.

Great, thanks!

Does anyone still on the wait list have any news? :T

I wish. 😀 They're probably still overbooked. The last time I spoke to the office(~2 weeks ago) they said there will be very little, if any, movement.

Same. Except I was told unequivocally, no movement. Not little.

I wish they would notify all of us that there won't be movement and let us schedule those app review appointments now instead of making us wait longer.

When did they tell you this?

To my fellow waitlisters: We're doomed. The class is overenrolled and there's realistically no chance of getting accepted.

I have a question to those accepted. Did they give you any indication of the overacceptance? As in a letter asking you to take a year of to do research or community service?

They over-enroll every year, but the wait list usually moves. I've heard pretty strongly that it won't move this year. Tulane's rep as the most fun med school experience in the nation has pretty much solidified now. That fact is leading to less and less wait list movement each year.

Congrats to those accepted. You literally won't find a med school experience this rich or fulfilling anywhere else.

Called today; was told wait list is stopped.

Stopped as in they changed everyone into a rejection because there is no chance? They should send out the official rejection email soon.

Tulane doesn't send out rejections for acceptance range I don't think; basically your application is "active" till you're accepted, you take yourself off the list, or classes begin haha...

Which is simply a euphemism for rejection. I think the lack of movement took everyone by surprise. I thought I had a chance here.

Classes start in 2 weeks. It's more likely for Earth and Mars to collide next week than for any of us waitlisters to get in. Maybe they will accept more conservatively in the future. It seems that many more who interviewed in or after January were waitlisted, where as almost everyone who interviewed early was accepted.
