How long is it taking everyone to hear back on which of the four interview dates they will receive? I submitted on Friday but haven't heard back...

I called them at the end of the second day since one of the dates I requested was fast approaching. She scheduled me while we were on the phone and I got a confirmation email right after I hung up! Their admissions staff is really helpful and friendly.

Can't wait until 5:00 when they might start making calls!

I know! What day did you interview? Apparently the apps from my interview day might get reviewed today but it might not be until nov. 14th. I hope its today! Good luck to you and everyone else this afternoon/evening!!

I interview on oct 15th and they said they would most likely get reviewed and decided upon today!

Please! For all of you who get that magical phone call today please let us know your interview date!

Thanks!

I also interviewed on the 10/22!

I interviewed on 9/28. I was hoping they would have gotten to my app last round but I didn't hear anything. Hoping to get some good news today!

I think it's some time after 5:00. Not necessarily 5:05.

did the people who were waitlisted hear back by phone or email the same day?

Do they announce waitlist decisions at this point in the game? I got the feeling we'd just hang out on a ranked list and either a) be among the top 25 at some point and be accepted after the adcom meets that time or b) never make it to the top 25 at any point in the cycle and get waitlisted in the spring? It sure sounded better than the multiple pools of waitlists that some schools have. Let's hope for good news!
Come on UM!! <3

Im not sure but I know someone who interviewed the first round and told me she was waitlisted. From what I remember her saying, she said the list was ranked and they can call you at any point throughout.

do we know the percentage of people who interviewed that usually get in?

On interview day they told us the stats from last year:
316 accepted out of 521 interviewed (~60%). I can't remember exactly but I think they received ~6000 applications total. Dr. Weisman said they are expecting to hit 7,000 apps this year!

So, for us Oct. 22-ers if we don't get a magical call or a waitlist email today does that mean that our apps are up for review at the next adcom meeting?

:luck::xf::luck:

Anyone know if they take pre-interview updates?

I'm not sure... You could try asking their admissions office staff. They are always really helpful and friendly and they've answered the phone every time I've tried to call! 👍

JUST GOT THE CALL! ACCEPTED 🙂 interviewed 10/19

I interviewed on 10/22. So I won't be too surprised if I have to wait until the next meeting to get reviewed

Yeah me too. Well there's 3 of us from 10/22 so if none of us hear accept/waitlist today then maybe nov. 14th is our day!

Accepted MD/MPH, waitlisted MD!!! Im sooo happy! I have never cried of happiness til today =)

And congrats to everyone else who got accepted!! 🙂 and if you got waitlisted dont worry, a decent percentage of the class comes from the waitlist, so there is still hope!

How did everyone like the campus and area? I'm trying to schedule my interview right now.

I'll be taking my talents to south beach come next fall. B)

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted! I interviewed on 9/21 and was placed on the alternate list. It was my first interview and so I was a little nervous, but I feel like I had a decent interview experience. While Dean Weisman said that it was going to be a stress free interview, my interview was the most stressful part of the day. While many of the applicants that interviewed on the same day said that their interview was very conversational, and centered around football or something else other than medicine, mine was one where I had to discuss the business and ethics of medicine. So it wasn't quite what I expected, but while in hindsight I feel like I could have answered some of the questions a lot better than I did, I still thought I did a fair job. However, I would have much preferred a more laid back interview. Anybody else have a more serious interview? How did you feel afterwards?

Also, I some have posted that they were placed on the alternate list while others have said that they have been placed on the waitlist. Are these two placements essentially the same? I know one school that I interviewed at has both an alternate list and a waitlist, and while those placed on the waitlist have been recommended for acceptance; those on the alternate list are only accepted if the entire waitlist is gone through. Did Dean Weisman distinguish a difference between the two? I thought he said that everyone who wasn't a part of the first batch of 15 acceptances after their interview would be placed on the alternate list. The way I understood it, there is a point system that they use to rank applicants, and they invite those with the most points to interview first. Then, the interview is a way to rack up more points. Finally, those with the most points are ranked towards the top of the applicant list and the top 15 from that list are accepted every other Wednesday. Is this how you guys understood how acceptances work? From my understanding, those who are invited to interview early on already have a lot of points before their interview, and therefore have a good chance of getting accepted as long as they can hold a conversation and avoid coming across as crazy in their interview. I'm sure it's easy to tell that I'm starting to worry a bit. I REALLY loved this school and would love to have the opportunity to go to UM.

Did they notify you today or was your app reviewed at an earlier adcom meeting? Im trying to mentally figure out when my app will come up for review!

I think the "alternate" list is the waitlist we've all been talking about, it seemed like there was only 1 ranked list...? Not sure, though.

I wouldn't say my interview was super intense and my interviewer was very friendly but it was a solid hour of difficult questions! Lots of health policy and ethics so it seemed much more difficult than my other interviews! There was no off-topic conversation in my interview, just lots of questions. It was tough and felt like a long time compared to half hour conversational interviews! I'm not sure how it went :-/

As for the 10/22 interviewees- did anyone hear anything (accept/waitlist)? I think we might be up for review on the 14th.
