Greetings future schoolmates. I am a very happy MS1 at Miller, and I'd like to begin by saying medical school is what you make of it, and I'm happy with my choice to come here despite compelling choices by this time last year.
Anyway, long story short - I chose Miami, and live in an amazing condo in Brickell where I guarantee you will love living. I was not sold on living in Brickell because of the expense, but after trying different options (not by choice!) I will tell you the convenience cannot be beat for the purpose of medical school.
I have a 2bed 2 bath condo to share in Brickell at the Ivy Condominiums starting July 18, 2013. I am male but will be okay sharing with either another male or female incoming freshman. The place is amazing and all I need is a clean, non-smoking, respectful, roommate (sorry, did I forget to say clean...lol). The condo is furnished except the room you will be occupying. Do not wait for last minute moves to secure housing...you will learn that it can be pretty tough getting what you want. PM me for details. You will all love Miami. Non-trad and mature students - wink wink😀

I believe the people who interviewed with me and were wait listed received an email the next morning. Only students accepted get called at around 5PM by current students

Accepted! Got the call a little before 6pm EST today (missed the call 😳). They left a voicemail asking me to call them back. After calling the admissions office, I was transferred to Dr. Weisman and he gave me the good news!

In all likelihood I probably will end up withdrawing from NYU, but i havent made up my mind yet. If I do withdraw, I'll make sure they give that spot to you. 😉

I hope so, I've just heard so many negative things about the waitlist. It seems like it's basically a rejection since there's hardly any movement on it. I wish there was something I could do to improve my chances. This is by far my top choice 🙁

I hope so, I've just heard so many negative things about the waitlist. It seems like it's basically a rejection since there's hardly any movement on it. I wish there was something I could do to improve my chances. This is by far my top choice 🙁

Once it's getting closer to May 15th I hear that there should be tons of movement. The class is pretty big so definitely don't lose hope and send some updates. Dean Weisman sure reads everything

Available interview dates went into late march so I am just speculating they probably send invites all through february and maybe into early march

I am not sure if anyone can answer this, but it has been on my mind. I heard from a VERY good source that UM already knows who it will invite to its interviews for the rest of the season. Is this true, or do they decide only in each adcom meeting? I am not sure if this person was confused. I am not sure if he meant for the last round of interviews that they had selected everyone, or if they have selected everyone throughout the end of March already.

Holy crap II today via email. I was complete July 23rd, so you can imagine my surprise almost 7 months later. I did send an update letter almost four months ago. OOS 3.86, 32R. I guess they really don't forget about you after they pass over your application!

However, in my acceptance letter, it says I can email OR write a letter. I already responded to them by email on the same day, but I am not sure if I should also respond by letter.

They do. I emailed it to the general admissions email listed on their website.

So I've been looking at various Florida medical school cost of attendance info and they seem to be comparable. What is it about Miami that makes it so expensive? Is it just the rent? Does the reported cost of attendance fail to accurately portray the cost of living? Any feedback from current UM students is appreciated.
