roughly how many people got off the waitlist here last year? anyone got an idea?
I was told that 30-36 get taken off, depending on the year. The waitlist is current at like 250 people although the numbers do dwindle down quite quickly near the acceptance deadline due to people accepting offers from other places.
Alright. And how many people on the waitlist do you think ACTUALLY call up and send in updates and LOI? I cant imagine everyone does, especially those that interview late who wont have much time to do much to improve their application before may
Then again, people do get accepted off the wait list without LOIs and update letters.)
plus, if someone gets accepted off the list WITHOUT an update letter- meaning they havent done anything to improve their application- then it seems strange that theyd be put on the waitlist in the first place.
Doubt that's true. I imagine Creighton gets applications from more qualified students than it could accept due to limits on the size of the class.
Current M2 at Creighton here, procrastinating because studying for Step 1 makes me want to cry. Anyway, I'm a member of the admissions committee, and you are absolutely right - we LOVE updates because it shows initiative, and shows that you're making the effort to keep your name known. That goes a lot farther than you think. Unlike many other schools, we're all about transparency here. My first time applying to med school, I was waitlisted at Creighton, and I called into the Open Door hours. Dr. Quinn walked me through my entire application and told me exactly what my red flags were (I lacked non-medical volunteering). As an aside, those of you waitlisted at Creighton - CALL IN AND TALK TO SOMEONE. Find out what your red flags are, fix them, and try again! Very few schools give you this opportunity - take advantage of it! So yes, those updates do indeed make you stand out against the hundreds of other equally-qualified applicants.I guess what I'm trying to say is if they have two people with roughly equal stats on the waitlist- both qualified... and only one sends an update... they're probably going to take that one over the silent applicant.
I dropped my other acceptance yesterday and this morning saw that Creighton had increased my Dean's Scholarship amount!Declined my acceptance and my diversity scholarship tonight - Here's hoping they turn around and give it to one of you soon!

I called the office a little before the 15th and they told me that the earliest alternates would hear from them is the very end of May/early June
Has anyone had luck applying to creighton with community college premed prereqs and getting accepted? I heard they dont accept CC premed courses multiple times on this site.
I would guess there are a few hundred on the wait list. I don't know if many schools do many post-interview rejections since its probably just easier to waitlist everyone who isn't accepted right away. I've heard that schools accept 2-2.5 students for every spot available. If this holds at Creighton, 304-380 students were accepted (out of about 650 interviewed). If Creighton doesn't reject post-interview, there could be 270-346 on the wait list. Keep in mind I'm just estimating these numbers-I think there were a little more than 650 interviewed.Does anyone have an idea how many people are on the wait list? I have zero concept of how big Creighton's alternate list is...or how full their class is.

So...anyone else concerned about what this means for us reapplicants? I'm taking a year off...but now I'm worried because if there's no movement at Creighton which, though I love the school, is not exactly top tier, I feel like that means it's gotten so much more competitive and in 2 years is going to be impossible!
Has anyone asked if the class is over-enrolled or just full?
We'll never know until we try. I'm not super hopeful at this point but having the info is helpful. I'll post if I do find out.would they tell us if we asked? I feel like everything they were willing to share was included in that email.
Alternate list people who are applying again- when are you going to submit AMCAS? I'm holding out hope for Creighton but also don't want to be too behind for the next application cycle..

Thanks user12. I would "like" the fact that you called/posted but I very much dislike that the class is full. (¬_¬)I called. they just told me the class is full. doesn't look like there's much waitlist movement in sight.

yuck =( I'm not looking forward to another $5000 application cycle and spending money on an smp to increase my chances.I very much dislike the fact that if I don't get off a waitlist I have to take the mcat again in a month
