2013-2014 Dartmouth College (Geisel) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Out of curiosity, do you know if Dartmouth considers close regional ties?

Been complete here since late August and I haven't heard anything since my completion email. Does Geisel do pre-interview holds or silent rejections?

No, but if you don't get invited based off your primary review (one person), they do a secondary review with 2 people. This process takes a long time! Hang in there. 🙂

+1 expect complete since early July. Def a reach school for me but I'd like to hear something either way!

Complete since EARLY JULY and silence since. Those 2 reviewers must be taking their time..sigh

same same, complete july and still waiting to hear
Ditto. Same story for a handful of schools I applied to. I do wonder at this point if there's any chance of an ii. I got a little burnt out on interviews, but would be psyched to go to Dartmouth!

Complete late summer and things went absolutely silent since....Got an email this week with Geisel as the sender and as I'm opening it I expect to read the "thanks but no thanks....". I become absolutely speechless when I see that it's an II!!!!! I could not think of a better way to go into break 🙂

Thank you! being completely honest Christmas and New Years just got bumped down my list to #2 and #3 of things I am most anxiously looking forward to.
I agree! I am interviewing in 18 days, starting to feel the jitters

thanks, that makes me feel a little better

Joan (Joanne?), the lady at the front desk, is really, really nice also. She's really sweet and talkative too. Plus she has an amazing memory. My interview day was >20 people, and she memorized all our names within 10 minutes of meeting her. I don't think I even knew half the names of the people I met on interview day lol. The campus is beautiful too so it'll take your mind off the interviews.

II today! Beyond excited as I thought the email was a rejection. Anyone else going late January or early February?

Sure! I was complete 7/1. My stats are: 34, 3.7 c/sGPA, 21 yo white male, Northern New England resident

I thought for a second the 21 was your mcat, not your age haha. I was very intrigued

Ahhh waiting on news with similar stats here. Would love to get some news from here; after all, their policy research is tops.

Complete 10/8 idk what to do.. have not heard anything and I don't like this waiting at all. I want to call but have nothing to say.. 🤔

thanks for all the info 🙂 I might pm you with a few questions, this is my very first interview

ugh sorry guys.

bummer that they're on the rejections from so long ago though 🙁

get through people quicker please, dartmouth!

Just got a very nice rejection email 🙁 complete early in the cycle 31/3.8 OOS...best of luck to everyone else waiting to hear!!!

Don't think they release post-interview results until January.

"Notification of acceptance or denial is issued as soon as the decision is known, but usually no earlier than January 1" - https://geiselmed.dartmouth.edu/admissions/instructions/
Because I'm too lazy to do the homework myself, can someone tell me whether the bulk of decisions arrive on (or within a week of) January 1st, or if they're spaced out for an entire month (or longer)?

Acceptances have already started trickling out. From last year's thread, more acceptances started trickling out mid-January and onwards. Lots of people heard nothing for months after January (referring to the batting average analogy) because no news post-interview is supposedly good news.

Oh, I'm aware; I was just wondering about the bulk. Based on past history, do you have any idea whether or not "early" interviewees (sep/oct) are *generally* notified earlier (i.e. Jan)? I know how the admissions process works (scoring/ranking system), but I was curious as to whether interview date had any sort of effect on notification unless you happened to be absolutely amazing or absolutely terrible. Thanks
