Did Georgetown's character count include spaces or just letters?

Thank you! 🙂

If you had to guess... What is the latest interview date that will be included in the first batch of acceptances?

Lol way too speculative of a question. Nothing to go off of there. When I interviewed it was one of their earliest dates and they said by the end of October was most likely for us.

For those who interviewed at the way beginning of September...
We were told that if we do not hear back by Oct 22, we should call, right?

I interviewed at the end of August and was only told around Oct 15. I don't remember anything about calling in but maybe I've just forgotten.

Hey i remember the tour guides talking about the average USMLE Step 1 scores but I forgot what they were, anyone remember?

I want to say it was 237, but don't quote me on that.

I interviewed the first week of September and was told around the 15th as well. No mention of calling but Director Campbell said check your spam folder for the status change.

I was in the first round of interviews and I was told it would be sometime this week.

However looking on last years thread they didn't start hearng back until like the 23rd.

my personal guess would be that we're going to be told on Monday Oct 21st. I really hope I'm wrong and it's sooner though.

Since MSAR says October 18 for earliest acceptance notice, I'll be optimistic and say tonight at 12 am EST. 🙂

I didn't even think of checking MSAR! Have those usually been right in the past?

That's a good question to which I haven't the faintest idea of the answer.

sooo i interviewed 9/9 and hoping to hear back tomorrow... not expecting much though given that they wait list a ton of applicants unfortunately

What was the earliest interview date here? I am trying to gauge how far away from the start my 9/18 session was.

I know there were some in the last week or so of August...

I interviewed in the beginning of October. They told us we were in a pool of about 80 applicants and to expect to hear back by mid-end of November at the latest.

Do you mean they interviewed only 80 applicants between the last week of August and the first week of October?

Seems to me that's not with the first cut, then. For one, there were ~10-12 students on my interview day. Also, they told us to call if we didn't hear back by a specific date, and that was definitely before the end of October.

We're just in different pools, then. They interview a ton of applicants, there were 11 there on my interview day.

My interview date/the first interview date was 8/29

They told us that they process 80 applications at a time
~20 are rejected
~40 are waitlisted
~20 are accepted

Wow! Great info! Do you know how many days a week they interview?

When I scheduled my interview there seemed to be at least 2-3 interviews days per week.

I recall that information about reviewing 80 at a time as well, but they didn't tell my group the breakdown of acceptance, wait list, and rejection. It sounded to me like applicants get reviewed in chronological slices or portions of 80.

What I remember is that they review 100 at a time, accept 20, waitlist 40, reject 40.
But I might be completely off about that and it might be 20/40/20.

Thanks for replying back msquaredb. I wasn't sure if it was 2 or 3 times per week. Just trying to gauge if I would be in the first group of 80 applicants being considered. I interviewed on the week of the 9th - 13th of September.

What they told me is they review 80 at a time, and no one gets rejected unless they really messed up. They didn't say how many get accepted, just that everyone who isn't accepted is waitlisted.

These numbers are intimidating. I interview here very soon.

The applicant to interview invite cut was intimidating, but you made it! Keep hope!

This is simply not true since I interviewed on 8/28 and when I was able to pick an interview date 8/27 was an option. I think 8/27 was the first date, but I could be wrong.

You're right.

You could be right, I was told we were in the first 'batch' of interviews. They definitely could have meant the first week. Though for the sake of argument a one day difference doesn't likely put us in different applicant pools.

I am certain about the 20/40/20 breakdown. I am lucky enough to know someone in the admissions office and know several students from previous years who have echoed this process, also if you check the blogs from last year this is also mirrored. There were plenty of people getting rejected in each pool which the majority were waitlisted.

Hopefully we all hear back soon with good news!

Thanks for the great post! Do you know how many times Georgetown interviews each week? Just trying to gauge whether I'll be in the first batch of applicants that are considered post-interview. Thanks in advance!

O I was never saying you weren't in the first batch! Just that yours was not the first interview day which you previously said.

so can you ask your sources what are the chances we will hear anything today?

😛

As for how often, I think it was m-thur...but i'm not sure. There were 11 of us in my interview group so if I was forced to make a guess I would say the first two-three weeks of interviews may be fair game for the first batch but again I really don't know.

They told me next week, but again who knows. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I interviewed on 9/23 and I remember them saying that our group should expect to hear by late November.

I understand Georgetown sent out a wave of rejection emails about two weeks ago. I'm hoping its still a good sign if you are still in the running. Still waiting for an II. Recently sent in an update letter. Hoping for good news. Its pretty intimidating though, if one looks at the quality of the applicants they are turning away :scared:

For those that interviewed, what hotels did you stay at? Not impressed with Georgetown's hotel rates 🙁

Best Western Rosslyn. It was like $80 with tax when using the Georgetown discount. A couple blocks from the metro.

Good luck to everyone applying! :luck:

Does the character count include or exclude spaces?

Thank you!

My assumption is that it is with spaces. I don't think I wrote a single secondary where character limits were without spaces. Does it matter that much though? They said a page single spaced. Does it fit? Then send it, I don't think they are going to count your characters....

U can get a hotel anywhere outside of georgetown to save money. Then just use the metro to get closer to campus. The GUTS buss is available to use, it picks u up at the nearest metro stop to georgetown (forgot the stop name) over the bridge and drops u off on campus a few diff places. 🙂

So within 1-2 days we should be hearing back, correct? My interview date told me within a week of October 15

I really hope we hear back soon. I interviewed the first week of september and I love this school!!!!

Anyone here with a recent II??? Starting to get nervous!
