2013-2014 Northwestern University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thread is awfully quiet..... has anyone else still not gotten their decision after being deferred? Someone tell me I'm not going crazy??

Maybe they took a little breather. I just got confirmation that I've been added to the alternate list via an email I sent March 3rd.

Definitely rooting for you all that are still waiting to hear back after being deferred (and those who are waitlisted too). It seems like they are doing things a little differently this year. In the past, all deferred applicants hear back on the same day with rejections coming one day later. But hang in there!

How long do you have to accept your acceptance/waitlist?

At this point I think they're just going to hold off till the very end of the month, to see how many current offers will be accepted/rejected before offering more. That's what I would do. Sucks for us though...
::sigh::

Are you thinking that they'll offer more acceptances to the waitlist, or the people that haven't heard back yet?

I'm just guessing because I know nothing! But I imagine those who haven't heard anything yet (post-interview) will be offered or waitlisted before any already on the waitlist are revisited. If you're presently on the waitlist, I don't think you'd hear anything before April 15 at the earliest. But do see my first sentence again. 🙂

I like your optimism but remember that they haven't sent out any post interview rejections yet either. 😕

My fragile mental state couldn't handle an outright rejection, so it hasn't even entered my thinking. 😛

Admissions office told me 170 people are already on the wait list....competition will be tough!!!

I think it comes with financial aid. On that note...I hope you guys turned in the tax returns and w2s that were due last week for that :/ I almost missed the deadline

Did you email them or mail them in? I emailed the forms to the financial aid office but didn't get a response confirming they got them. Now I'm thinking I should have mailed them.

Thanks for the response BTW.

Hey if you log into Caesar you can click on the financial aid to do list link or something similar to it on the main page and it will show you whether or not they have received your forms.

I did the FAFSA and need access but didn't send in any tax forms because we didn't file taxes yet. Did I screw up?

Do you remember how long it took for your parent's tax returns to be marked as complete? I'm wondering if I should email them tomorrow or just wait it out (I emailed it to them on the deadline).

Thanks for letting me know about this! I just checked that site and realized that there were some forms that I forgot to send in....oops. Hopefully they don't mind that they are a few days late.

Also, for everyone who is considering moving here from warmer climates, this video gives an idea of what winter in Chicago is like: http://morningnews.wgntv.com/2014/03/03/dans-hilarious-frozen-inspired-parody-let-it-go-chicago/
haha but I do love living here, even if it is supposed to snow again next week...

Not sure for me. I sent everything in a week before I got my NU id so when I logged in, they were all marked complete.

I feel like this lengthy silence is going to culminate in a negative response. 🙁

Is the site for need-based aid only? Anything about merit-based aid in there?

Anyone set on Feinberg for sure? I know I am! Really excited to meet my future classmates during Second Look!

I wish they would send out the official invite already... But yay that you're already set on a school!
I know...Their initial second look email stated that an official invite would be sent within a two week window. It's now the end of the third week since they sent out that email! Humph.

Ha I know. I guess they really wanna make sure it's kick-ass before they send out the invite/itinerary.

It better be kick-ass ! Haha. I won't have to travel much to get to it which is nice, native Chicagoan here....

Rejected. First post-interview rejection of the cycle.

I straight up loled when I got the email. My group interview was a disaster...the main interviewer actually nodded off during my part of the group presentation.

Rejected here too. Really? That sucks.

Was it part of your financial aid response or a seperate email? When did you submit your financial aid info?

I was notified via an email independent of any financial aid info. Haven't received any sort of complete financial package yet. I submit all my aid documents in the beginning of March.

If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats?
