2013-2014 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone else get small-pooled today???

Do any of you know if RF send out decisions via mail or email?

They definitely do go out via email. As for the slightly neurotic time checking on previous threads (don't worry, I was there once too), last year every update I got from them post interview came at the end of the day. But if you did interview, don't get your hopes up just yet. Last year they didn't accept very many people at the October meeting and instead "waiting listed" them (not to be confused with their alternate list which is the actual dreaded "waitlist" you hear about) and reviewed them for the next two months. They look for very specific candidates here, and from what I remember the big huge waves of acceptances didn't really start going out until January/February.

complete since 8/21... silence for 9 weeks now. 😕

Keep in mind the admissions committee is ESPECIALLY swamped at this time of year. Of the roughly 10,000 applicants they will review, it's likely that they already have at least several thousand to look at already. They say 6-8 weeks as an average because some times it will take them two weeks, and sometimes it will take them 14 weeks (or more, but you get the point). Bottom line, give them time.

Thanks for the info...
Hopefully the first wave of acceptances will come soon.

Hello, I understand you are anxious to learn our decision on your application. As we participate in the AMCAS centralized admissions service, no offers are allowed to be sent out before a common deadline, which was this past week on October 15. We are currently reviewing applications and expect our first offers to go out later this week.

Hope this helps. Any questions at all, please email me at [email protected].

Best, Sara

We must be getting some today or tomorrow. :xf::xf:

Hi guys, I was completed in August and still heard no word yet. Does anyone know whether letter of interest to show that I am still very interested in the school will help get an interview?

Don't send a letter of interest prior to interviewing. The only things you can really do are email/call admissions to ask them about the status of your application, or maybe send an in the area email if you'll be in the Chicago area for another interview (presuming you're not from Illinois) sometime soon. Best of luck.

Sorry, I've been swimming through so many threads and secondaries. Small Pool notice is by email, correct? There's no status page?

That's right. You'll get an email for small pool.

👍👍👍

They don't accept any pre-interview updates.

today has to be the day.... riiiiiiiiighttttttt?😳😳😳

It has to be the day!!!! We're running out of options, right?:laugh:

Not necessarily. Last year it was the last week in October I think. Try not to obsess over all of this though, it's not healthy and doesn't do you any good. Just live your life. I know, easier said than done haha, but coming from someone who went through the application process multiple times, the less you worry about it the faster the time will go and the less stress you'll have. Good luck.

yeaah, good point. though sara did say later this week on Saturday.... that's why we're all getting anxious hah

Hoping to hear today!

On a side note, I found their accreditation report on the website. If you haven't read it:

http://www.rosalindfranklin.edu/cms/LCME.aspx

Great find. As you can probably see, most of these problems should be pretty easy fixes, at least from my perspective. Getting lockers at Cook County shouldn't be too difficult, for example, and it looks like on the website, they've already made some progress.

I read it this weekend, and I am not concerned at all. Many of the issues seemed like administrative/institutional organization issue. I am sure those can be fixed VERY easily.

I'm confused on how small-pools work. Are they in order? If they've skipped my date am I SOL?

Also, looks like they haven't started rejecting yet, anyone know if they are silent through March?

Some people have been rejected. One mentioned that they didn't get small pooled, but I'm not sure about others. I would start looking at pg 29 and back, if you want to see more. GL

Not screwed. Things don't always progress linearly even if applications are reviewed linearly.

Rejected via pdf (with letter being sent by letter) just now. Post-interview.

To be totally honest, I'm surprised a little that I got a straight rejection. There was one interview that got ended shortly due to my interviewer having to go to a meeting, but they gave me a third interview which went really well, along with my first interview.

I guess that shows the mystery of admissions. Good luck with the rest of you all!

i received an email saying my application was on "hold," and has neither been accepted nor rejected..can't tell whether this is a good or a bad thing..

Have you interviewed already? Or is this pre-interview?

+1, a little surprised, I thought this was one of my better interviews. I was wondering if anyone knew if they are receptive to letters of intrest?

When were you complete? I'm still waiting on a response from an early October complete date, but I don't think I'll hear back for a while.

Accepted! So excited, really got a great vibe during my visit.

Accepted! I'm beyond ecstatic, my first acceptance of the season.
II 9/23. Notice was via e-mail.
Congrats to all those accepted! Guess I might be seeing some of you there.
