Does anyone know the percentage of applicants that get interviews from those that are small pooled?
 
Does it always go small pool --> interview?

Or can you just get a straight up interview invite?

as far as i know from following this thread the trend has been small pool and then interview. some people got small pooled the day before they got an interview invite, but they always got small pooled first
 
Congrats to everyone accepted, and keep on trucking to those still treading water in the small pool. I am also happy to answer any questions by PM or on here (I am an M3)
 
I recently interviewed here and my interviewer took me to my room and decided it was unsatisfactory. He/she then interviewed me in the busiest hallway in the school! It was so loud due to students and faculty were passing by. In fact, some of my fellow applicants passed by on the way to their interviews and stared in disbelief. Needless to say this was distracting to me, but I am more concerned by how much it distracted my interviewer. We were interrupted by faculty that knew him/her and wanted to say "Hi". Anyway, my interviewer lost his/her train of thought numerous times due to all of this and had to ask me to repeat myself often. I am confident maybe 10% of what I said actually got through. I wrote a pretty detailed survey response about this interviewer because he/she is certainly not doing the school any favors.

Wow, I'm really sorry, that totally sucks 🙁... any idea why he/she decided the room wasn't good? so weird

It was really vague and arbitrary. The person simply said "I don't like this room". I am thinking this interviewer was trying to be edgy by throwing me a curveball, but it was really just unprofessional.

That sounds very much like a stress interview type situation. Maybe you were supposed to mention that you were uncomfortable and preferred another interview location? Anyways, no faculty would pass by and interrupt the interview if they saw what was going on. Sounds like the other faculty knew about it or it was meant to provide you with distractions.
 
It's been well over a month since my secondary was processed and I have yet to receive even a small pool email.. 3.7/29 from CA... Does it look like a silent rejection with those stats?

You're supposed to wait 6-8 weeks for a response. If it's been longer than that I'd be worried.

It doesn't look like anything yet! Until you receive an e-mail from them saying otherwise, relax and don't make any assumptions.

Accepted! OOS interviewed on Sept. 16th. Really excited and had an awesome vibe here, but the probation issue really put a damper on things. Things are still up in the air at this point, and if I withdraw, you guys will be the first to know! Good luck to everyone!
 
While I agree the probation is definitely going to play a part in my decision (I just got the email as well), I have to say, it really seems like the new Dean and the staff at CMS are very serious about solving the issues that led them to be placed on probation. It seems like the administration is working hard and as a future potential student, I appreciate their efforts to keep us educated and in the loop about everything. It is a good indicator that the admin would be open and communicative with the student body on all fronts (as many current students have attested to)

As students, we are pleasantly surprised at how transparent our administration is being about our probationary status. Most schools would never reveal these kinds of details, and it's pretty clear that our school is not only serious about fixing them, but also cares a great deal about keeping its students (current and prospective) informed about the process.
 
Been under review for 8 weeks now....still no word from this school or for that matter any other school I was complete since end of August / early September. What the heck is going on....

By the way, I'm not sure what others think, but the more I read about the LCME findings the more I'm inclined to think they are mostly BS.
Indeed I don't know much about the process of LCME accreditation, but going on probation because of by-laws? Lockers? I don't know. It sounds way to political to me.
 
So a current student earlier in this thread said that the school would lose its accreditation if the issues weren't resolved by December 15th. Is this true?

From what I understand, this is not the case. It makes very little sense to place a school on probation and give them only two months to fix the discrepancies - nothing related to organizations or bureaucracies works that fast. With that said, however, I do not know this for a fact. I would contact Sara ([email protected]) as she works at the school and has been on this forum offering to be contacted with any questions. Let us know what you find out!

That's only partially correct. They gave the school until that date to provide proof (lots of paperwork) that they were taking steps to fix the most serious of the issues. Then the LCME meets again in February, reviews said paperwork, and let's us know how we did.

Pandaeac, I responded to that particular post a while ago, and I'm going to quote my own response again.

The school still has accreditation, and they by no means told us that it will be losing accreditation. There are other respected medical schools on LCME probation right now, and many other medical schools have been on LCME probation in the past and come out of it just as respected as they did before. GWU has been on probation previously, and they came out of probation with full accreditation.

Our Dean resigned to make room for our new Dean, who has a tremendous amount of experience with LCME accreditation. Students and faculty will be working closely with our new Dean to make the LCME-required modifications, all of which are extremely manageable.

I want to emphasize that the dean explicitly said that we WILL NOT be losing our accreditation. The post you're referring to was made by an extremely panicked first-year student who had received the news just an hour before he/she posted.

On December 15th, our school will provide documentation showing that we are working to fix the issues the LCME cited us for. Sara Nobbe, a fantastic admissions recruiter whom I know personally to be a fantastic person and resource, has made herself available for any and all questions. I guarantee that her information will be far better than any information you'll glean from this site. You can reach her at [email protected].

Just want to clarify that tentacles statement is not necessarily true. JK1006 is mostly correct, but I can say I am one of those who did not get small pooled before I got an interview. Wether it was a hitch or not, that was my case. So don't stress too much, it can happen!

You were definitely small-pooled. Again, you must be small-pooled to receive an interview. You may not have received the e-mail, but I guarantee you: You were small-pooled.

Same here. I got small pooled Oct. 7th and interview invite Oct. 8th.

edit: for those interested in stats, 4.0 GPA, 31 MCAT, Minnesota Resident, prior military service.

If it's been longer than that, I WOULDN'T worry. Things don't always progress as fast as you'd expect. 6-8 weeks is an estimate and not a hard and fast number to adhere to.

Do any of the current students remember when you got your financial aid package from CMS?

Small pooled 11/7 (took forever!!!)

stats: >3.2 uGrad gpa, >3.5 SMP gpa, 37S MCAT

Should I read into the fact that it took almost three months from completion to small pool? Does it seem to anyone else like that might be a bad thing? I guess I should just shut up and be grateful for the love but it still strikes me as odd.
 
Does anyone know when the admission will send their accept emails this month? I am guessing it will be on the Monday (November 25th). I don't know if they will send them after the thanksgiving... which will be on December...

Small pooled yesterday (complete 9/23), interview invite today. Will be withdrawing-- not going to lie, the probation played a role in this decision- I really don't doubt the school will provide a great education, my cycle's starting to get expensive though, and I would rather the invite go to someone who is more excited about the school. Good luck!

I don't believe it came until the summer before matriculation. But, I didn't have my FAFSA complete until mid spring so I'm not sure if that played a role. I personally didn't get any scholarships or anything from the school either though so I'm not sure how any incentive packages from them work. You may want to call the schools financial aid office and chat with them about it. Our faculty has always been extremely helpful and easy to deal with for me!
 
Small pooled today! Secondary complete 9/9 and processed by CMS 9/19.
What percentage of small pooled applicants receive an interview invite?
