Hmmm, maybe I'm old fashioned, but I wouldn't ask, I'd just do it. Much like I don't ask if someone wants me to hold the door open for them, or ask if it's ok if I say "bless you" when they sneeze. For me, it's not just about the admissions decision, I see it as common courtesy. So I get twitchy if I don't send a thank you, not just for med school interviews, but for job interviews, etc. But then, that's just me... 🙂
If you know their name, it's pretty easy to figure out their email address. And if you don't have their name, ask for their contact info to follow up with something specific that came up in your interview -- and include that with the thank you.
