I submitted my secondary on July 4 and was just marked complete this morning.

Also, my picture is cropped. I cut someone out of it (from a poster presentation) but you can't tell there was another person in the picture. If they rejected me over a cropped picture that would be weird...but an excellent story haha.

I would assume that it's pretty normal considering that we just submitted our primary applications a little over a month ago.

Hello! So I am writing because I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I received an email from the multicultural medical student affairs saying that they are encouraging me to apply. I am assuming that it is because I am Colombian-Iranian but my statistics are nowhere near the school's averages as I have a 29 mcat and a 3.9 gpa.. I'm just wondering if there is an actual chance I would even get looked at or if this is a routine email they send to everyone.

If you're on the med-MAR (which I am assuming you are--you sign up when you register for the MCAT), it's a standard e-mail the school has sent to a bunch of people within a certain score range. I'm a URM on the med-MAR and I've gotten a few e-mails from diversity committees (etc) at a range of schools encouraging me to apply. Take it with a grain of salt. They know nothing about you personally besides your score and your ethnicity. If you like the school, you should just apply. There's no guarantee they'll interview you and I have friends who were outright rejected pre-interview by schools who sent them recruitment e-mails. Your MCAT is ok, particularly since you're URM. I think it's worth the gamble. You can never really tell what's going to pan out.

Just curious because the photo I have been sending to schools is outdoors, in front of a tree, but I'm wearing professional attire and it's from the waist up. The background is blurred, so it's not distracting.

Got the same email. Stats a little lower than yours, but all the same.
I'd go with with the other person responded with.

Still no secondary from Emory. Does this mean I am up for a rejection? AMCAS verified on June 18th. Yet to receive MCAT scores.

@RT14 do you mean your MCAT scores have not come back yet or Emory hasn't received them? If it's the former, some schools don't send out secondaries until they get your MCAT score. This seems especially likely since I believe Emory has a minimum MCAT cutoff.

I havent received my secondary. But, I am expecting my MCAT scores coming tuesday.

I wouldn't say it's hopeless, but you should be aware 92% of accepted applicants for last cycle at Emory had some form of research.

I am wondering if any current med students can shed some light on what it's like having the medical school on the same campus as the undergraduate school.

Undergrad hasn't started back, but I can imagine traffic will get pretty bad. I ride a bike, but with the CDC, Emory, and EUH all on the same road, I see a lot of congestion on the roads. I'll try to remember to let you know my impression of the combined campus when they get here. PS all, I couldn't be happier at Emory 😉

Does anyone know if they still do not record lectures? I know there has been a student run transcript service.

Mandatory-ish. Only when patients are present in lectures, at small groups, and few other such times. Lectures are not video recorded, but the transcript, audio, and learning objectives are covered by current students and the year prior. Also, so far, class has been great. They are very big on making class a valuable use of time IMO

Emory does have an MCAT cutoff. You need to have at least a 27 overall and no lower than 7 in any section

I'm having the same problem. I've tried on IE, Mozilla, and Chrome. Nothing works. Let me know if you get it to work!
