2014-2015 Hofstra University Application Thread

Just rescheduled my interview that was supposed to be Dec 17 if anyone wants an earlier date!

Hopefully this isn't a dumb question but what happens when you press the 'reset interview' button on the interview homepage for Hofstra? Is this where I go to see whether there's an earlier interview date available? I'm afraid that if I click it, I might lose my current spot. Thanks for any insights!

I just did that looking for that dec 17 interview but it wasn't there so it just let me reschedule the one I had before--but yea it cancels it and let's you look at dates again.

So to be clear, if you click on the 'reset interview' button but end up NOT choosing a new date, you still have your original date as backup? Thanks so much for clarifying.

Edit: Never mind. I tried and it cancels your original date. Thanks!

I believe so! At least mine was still there, I'm sure if you're hesitant you could call the admissions office and ask them to reschedule for you, I've done that at another school and they were helpful

Ahh me too! I've been checking my phone like crazy for the past two weeks haha

I just got a rejection from a different school LITERALLY as I was responding to your post and because I was thinking about Hofstra my brain got confused and I ended up sitting here having heart palpitations so that was really fun.

Thanks, you as well! Extremely excited to see New York for the first time, hopefully with a little bit of snow. Will be a nice change of pace from all this darn gorgeous weather in California :joyful:
Hahah then you're coming at the perfect time coz it was freezing here today! I'd love to be in Cali right now 😛

Hofstra isn't in 'that' New York, fyi. Long Island isn't all that exciting. It's suburbia.

Are you saying it doesn't snow on Long Island? I find it pretty hard to believe. And trust me when I tell you if you live anywhere long enough, new places will always seem exciting!

You said you were excited to see new york for the first time. You won't see much of it unless you're planning on spending some time in NYC after your interview. I'd highly recommend that if you have friends around. It's a blast.

Ahhh I gotcha. Yeah I haven't been to the state before and would like to get a feeling for actual NYC, but unfortunately my work schedule didn't allow me to stay longer than one night =/. I do have friends there so I can always visit again if I'm lucky enough to ascertain an acceptance.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Yeah, I meant to use the word for the heck of it but couldn't quite figure out how to properly format the sentence. I was trying to say if I'm lucky enough to know for sure that I have multiple acceptances. Does that make sense?

Just an FYI: be careful using words you don't actually know the meaning of in an interview setting or a professional essay. It makes you look like a tryhard and people have to stop and wonder what you were trying to say and that disrupts flow as well.

They said that decisions can take different amounts of time, so I wouldn't worry yet!
