Good luck to everybody applying! Hopkins has always been a dream school. I just submitted this morning, so I'll be getting ready for that secondary July 1st.
stats: 3.99 cGPA, 4.00 sGPA, 35 MCAT

Submitted today as well! Good luck all.

Reach school but I have always loved the school. It would be great to get some love here. Good luck all!

Is this one of those schools where the secondary opens on a date (July 1) and we just go to the website to fill it out? Thanks!

I have a question about the humanities requirement, does English count as a humanities course?

If it's like it was last year, you will be emailed information to create an account for the online secondary portal after you have been verified (your primary app). Then you can make an account and submit the secondary.

This is the dream. I'm glad I'll be able to see people get into Hopkins from this thread. Lord knows it's a long shot for any individual.

Received secondary email today a few minutes ago. Led to a website portal to register with...looks really long and repeat of a lot of AMCAS Qs :/

@gettheleadout @VitaminVater

Did you guys log in yet? Did you notice how next to "Application for Admission" it says: (Deadline Has Passed) ???

Edit: I wonder if they haven't changed it to the 2014-2015 cycle yet...or I registered wrong??

Says the same for me.
I emailed and ask, I'm sure it's a small glitch.

I'm very confused. I couldn't tell if it was a phishing e-mail or not. I submitted my primary app, but my transcripts have not yet been received by AMCAS let alone verified.

Perhaps I should call them before filling out the secondary?

@nOchemallday wow i didn't even consider the phishing thing...crap hope it's not. so naive, i just eagerly put in all my info -____- will you let us know what they say if you end up calling them?

Got one! I don't think think it's a phishing email

haha i don't think we need to worry too much, I feel pretty confident its legitiment. I'm pretty sure "applyyourself.com" is used by other schools for secondaries and the email is from jhmi.edu!

I haven't been verified yet either and I received the secondary invite this morning... Weird, because that letter explicitly says that they received my verified app, which is impossible!

I just spoke with the office of admissions, and apparently Hopkins was told that the names given to them belonged to verified applicants. They said NOT to fill out the secondary until you have been verified.

I got this email a few hours after getting an invite to fill out a secondary application:

"Hello: Earlier today, you received an e-mail from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine regarding a link to our secondary application. Please note that only verified applicants are eligible to complete/submit the on-line application. If you have submitted the on-line application, it will not be processed until we receive the official verification from AMCAS. We will notify you via e-mail once the verification process is complete."

In regards to the Hobbies section on the application, would anyone recommend entering blogging as an activity? I'm an amateur food blogger.

Got secondary, and then created an account but wasn't sent a PIN? Was it automatic for you guys?

For the "describe a situation where you had to overcome adversity" question, is it okay to write about a major car accident which wasn't my fault but resulted in a law suit against me by the other driver for almost two years?
Or would it be better to discuss moving to a different country halfway across the word at the age of 13 surrounded by a completely different culture and starting a new school?

For the "describe a situation where you were not in the majority", Im thinking about discussing my engineering undergrad and how I'm one of very few girls? Is that a good idea?

Either of those adversity topics will work and I like your minority one too.

I'm a little confused about the difference between "activity" and "position held" with regard to the community services.

I also find it weird that in a lot of the cases, I can't actually enter the full names of the Schools/Employers and stuff. It even says, "you might have to use abbreviation". LOL.

Just submitted. Long shot but hoping for some love.

Did you guys put research in employment or extracurricular? I know it might be different for each person. I get paid in the summers, but do it for credit during the school year, and I don't know quite what to put.

Applying this year! Best of luck to everyone!

I received the secondary a few days ago and noticed that I need to input an MCAT score in one of the sections. I took mine on June 21st so I don't have my score yet. Should I just go ahead and submit the secondary without the score or wait till I get it so I can fill out that one part?

Thank you!

Same MCAT date here. Yeah, I think JHU could give the application system a little more thoughts. For example, there should be an option such as "wait for future MCAT score". That being said, as someone commented earlier, it sounded like the admission office may not expect us to submit our secondaries before the MCAT score nor before the the primaries get verified and stuff. I'm just gonna wait a couple weeks.

Depends on the nature, I'm putting employment since I've always had to work a set number of hours both during the school year/summer. And (hopefully) won't have to go back to not being paid.

So for the minority question does anyone know if it's asking more so for a moral conflict or is race/ethnicity okay to address?

I can't think of any better place I'd rather be for med school, but I'm sure my chances are slim to none.

I think either can work, as long as it answers the question.

Yeah I think that's what I'm going to do as well! Best of luck 🙂 I really can't wait for my score haha

In case anyone else is wondering (I was), when you submit your secondary the status page will say "application submitted" but they'll start sending out emails notifying you that you're actually complete later in July (at least they did last year.)

Any Canadians applying to this school? What did you put for Visa Number? As a canadian, I have a F1 visa, but was not issued a formal visa number

I think visa number refers to the Alien number issued to PR. could be wrong.

Does anyone know how they feel about extra letters of recommendation. Obviously excess is to be avoided but I was thinking of submitting the committee letter, one research research related letter, one from clinical experience, and one from a science prof. Does this seem reasonable?
