I didn't stay with a Feinberg student, but crashed with a Northwestern law student who lived in the area. To get his studio's rent within budget he was renting out his walk-in-closet on AirBnB. :laugh: He essentially told me that I'd be SOL if I wanted to find a "cheap studio."

It totally is, I see some 2 bedrooms that are about a 10 minute walk away, going for 2100 - 2200. So you wouldnt be saving a ton, but it brings it within budget!

It really depends on the person, I personally need to have my own personal space, even if it's just a small closet of a bedroom!

Interviewed last Monday and received notice today that I was deferred until March.
 
Did anyone receive an acceptance today? I didn't hear anything , and I was wondering what that meant...

It's possible that they're just deferring people since it's so close to the March deadline now.
 
Heads-up to other acceptees, in case anyone else was unaware: the current cycle's fin aid application deadlines are up on Feinberg's website now, and they recommend completing the FAFSA and Needaccess forms by Feb 13! Maybe I'm just behind the curve but I thought it was odd that we were never sent an email or notice about applying for aid after getting the acceptance email. (though while typing this I just got an email directed at veteran acceptees regarding using GI Bill benefits? weird...)

On that note, be aware that almost all traditional applicants will need their parents information for the need access form. It was a bit of surprise to me, as they asked a ton of questions far beyond even my parents tax documents.

Related to this, I have a confusion about the FAFSA. I have always heard that parental income is not a factor in fin aid awards for medical school, yet the FAFSA still asks for parental income. Can anyone explain this to me?

Depends on the school, some of mine want the FAFSA parental info, others don't care cause they ask for need access anyways.

Don't you fill out a generic form and then just send it to different schools? They way I'm filling it out it doesn't look like there are school specific applications.

You're right, so essentially if one school wants it you'll have to send it to all to my understanding

Axed yesterday.
After spending some time at NU, I now know that their admissions only cares about the name of your undergrad institution and your MCAT score!
It is proven to me that if you don't have a MCAT score above 35 and did not attend an ivy league school, you have no chance here.

Not true. I went to a state school and got an interview. There were also 2 others who went to state schools on my interview day.

I did, and I started to feel a little sad (and bad about my response) until I saw that they got accepted to Michigan (WADDUP) and then I stopped feeling bad.
 
I know this is probably old news but does anyone know how many people are accepted/ waitlisted/ rejected after being deferred? I interviewed in December and want to know approximately what my chances are. Thanks!!
 
The dean of admissions told us "some percentage" when I interviewed but he told other people about half of those accepted come from the March date. What I think happens is they take a look at how many acceptances each of their already accepted students have and try to guess how many more acceptances they have to give out to fill their class. So either way I think there are pretty good odds for those of us still waiting. Hopefully.
 
^yeah they said they fill half the class up front and the other half from the deferred pool when I interviewed
 
Anyone on the deferred list, but never got an email saying they were likely to be accepted? I've send updates since my Dec. interview but don't want to pester them. Getting worried.

What do you mean exactly? My deferred until March email said that most deferrals were likely to be accepted but it didn't come in a separate email.

Many, not most.
 
Agreed. If everyone who doesn't get accepted is on the deferral list, there's no way that most will get accepted in the end.
