2014-2015 Northwestern University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Huh. I was "Deferred" a while ago and haven't heard anything (through the acceptances and waitlists, I'm probably getting a rejection email very soon)

or an acceptance email...

hardly anyone gets rejected, and it looks like acceptances havent gone out today

or an acceptance email...

That is possible. However, people a couple weeks ago were getting acceptance calls after being "deferred until march", which is why I inclined to think I'll be rejected. But one can never be sure until the hammer falls.

Hello all,

I have been fortunate enough to receive acceptances to both Case West and Northwestern University. I was wondering if any of you have advice regarding choosing between the two schools. I'm from the suburbs of Chicago so Northwestern would logistically be a better choice (not to mention better location), but if any one had any other insight please feel free to share!

Thanks in advance,

Does anyone know how many people are usually on the waitlist here?
They told us on interview day that they reject very few (<10%)...so that means 40-50% of interviewees are waitlisted.

Hi everyone, did any of you receive a criminal background check e-mail from the AAMC this morning?

Anyone know if Feinberg gives out merit scholarships/when they would be released?

I wonder how many of us are sill silent after deferral.

Optimistically predicting acceptance this Thursday. Let's see how predictive I can be...

Same spot as you. The wave of acceptances a couple of weeks ago has me worried that we are looking at wait list or reject at this point.

There was also a wave of wait lists a couple weeks ago for folks who were deferred. And I think more deferred candidates are accepted than rejected outright (with most going on the waitlist)

I've also been deferred until March and have yet to hear back from them. Not quite sure what that means although that previous wave of acceptances makes me all the more paranoid (and the fact that I don't have an acceptance yet :/).

I didn't even know they had hosts for second look!! I stayed at MileNorth for my interview and it was great. 2 minute walk tops!

That's where I stayed for my interview and plan to stay for second look. Highly recommend!

is anyone having problems accessing/logging into the collaborate.northwestern.edu site they just emailed about? I could set up an account but I can't login

No can't say that I have, but try changing browsers. I had problems with the secondary website with browsers other than safari.

No problem here... Just became much more real now that I have a northwestern email.

Login setup worked perfectly for me on Chrome.

Hopefully we'll get those packages on the 16th! I really appreciate how NU has been so prompt with their finaid process. Kind of excited and afraid at the same time about this part...

Finally working! Thanks everyone.

Also, pretty awesome that we can log into cesar and confirm that they have received all of our financial aid materials. They truly are the anti-Duke of communication 😉

Is anyone's financial aid portal showing up as entirely complete? My fafsa is marked complete but nothing else is and I sent everything in about three weeks ago. Just wondering if I should call.

Mine's marked with all completes. I'd call just to make sure, I'm sure the office is a bit busy. They were very helpful when I called a couple of weeks ago though!

Oh my god, I hadn't logged onto Caesar yet but this is easily the nicest finaid portal I've ever used. All my forms have the very excited "Completed!" next to them, but I filed them way back in Feb.

Also: hats off to NU for being really user-friendly with their US citizenship confirmation process. All they wanted was a scan of my documents, while many other schools mandated that I file extra forms through the social security office or send in notarized copies. :dead:

Thanks! Called this morning. It took like five minutes to straighten out. No problems at all. Best office I've talked to by far and the only one in constant communication about the status of things.

Did any of you accepted people get anything in the mail at all? I accepted the offer but it has only been e-mail communications; want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything since someone on FB wrote about health requirements and I haven't gotten any materials regarding that lol

Nothing in the mail. All communication has been through email so far. I guess Feinberg is very green 😛

Phew! Okay I feel better now haha I guess some people just get things done really early
Haha, that was my FB post! Sorry if I started a small panic. I didn't receive an email about it, but there is a webpage with all the stuff we have to submit (eventually) here: http://www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/admissions/process/roles/admitted-students/index.html

The only reason why I am doing this all so early is because 1) I'm 99% sure I will attend NU, and 2) I'm leaving the country in a month and won't be back until school starts. The rest of you guys still have plenty of time!

Could someone please link me to the accepted students Facebook group? 🙂

Hey! Thanks for clearing this up and thank you so much for the link! I am also 99% sure that I will see you there! 🙂
