So do they appear not to have too much OOS bias?

Anyone know roughly how many people are accepted (including those that do not matriculate) each year? I don't have MSAR anymore (info for a friend). Thank you for helping!

I think the approximations I heard were something like 250 acceptances for 125 spots.

Anyone else left from 11/21 interview date or earlier who has not heard anything yet?

Maybe this was mentioned during the interview day and I missed it, but are there any student-run health clinics or clinics in general that medical students can help out at?

I may be misinformed but I did hear about one being worked on. But there are definitely places you can volunteer at in the area,

That stinks!! However, it means that you are still being considered. They reject people right away and tell people if they are on the third tier wait list right away. Hope you hear good news soon!!!!

Does anyone know if OUWB sets up like a talent show or winter formal for their med students? I was just curious about the social and bonding events for students. Thanks!

We have a ROAST through the pediatrics interest group where professors and students make fun of each other, the curriculum, etc., but that is the closest we get to a talent show. We also have MedBall, which is probably close to a "winter formal".

II extended today, file complete Oct. 30th. The days I have available to interview are 2/13 2/20 and 2/24.
Garferies I might take you up on that offer. I have to look into flights tonight/tomorrow.

I'm interviewing here this week, so any last minute advice? Did the interview experience really feel like a calming oasis loaded with an all-you-can-eat buffet? :)

And do I need to bring a resume?

No need to bring a resume and yes just relax and be yourself!

Is anyone flying into Bishop International Airport on Feb 5th for interview on 6th? PM me if you want to share cab/hotel for the 5th. Thanks!

Just received a call for a very generous scholarship offer! Funny thing is I haven't even completed my FAFSA yet...

Might be a game changer! :)

Congrats!! I got the call as well.

Can anyone comment on how OUWB generally hands out financial aid? Do students typically get need-based scholarships in addition to merit based?

Declined my interview invite today due to receiving acceptance to my top three schools all this morning. Good luck to everyone in the running!

Has anyone received an acceptance offer yesterday from OUWB? They usually update their twitter but this time there hasn't been an update. I wonder if they'll make the calls today instead :/

I interviewed on Jan 9 and didn't get a call which means I'm on the wait list :(

Does anyone know if there's significant movement for the wait list for this school?

I've been thinking a lot about that, especially because my pre-med advisor told me that once you interview at a school it means your stats are "good enough" and it's really all about the interview. But you'd have to think that even if they really like you and that you fit in, and there's someone else that fits equally well, they'd go with the one with the better stats. Right?

I don't think that is true. Just because you didn't hear today does not mean you are on the waitlist. They don't form the waitlist till March or April, I forget. They continue to evaluate their applicants.

Does Oakland email post-interview rejections?

This is correct. If you're not directly accepted or rejected, you are on hold. They will form a 3 tiered waitlist in March, I believe, and reject those who don't make it onto the waitlist.

Does Oakland email post-interview rejections?

I believe so. Acceptances are call + email, hold is no communication, rejection is email.

Does anyone have any advice for which shuttle to take (2D vs DAS)? It ends up being cheaper for me to use one of those than renting a car

Withdrew today, interview scheduled for 2/20. Hope someone here gets the chance to take my place! Best of luck to you all!

I'll be the first to share this news with all you guys. OUWB is fully accredited by the LCME! :soexcited:

So post-interview love letters (letters of interest/intent) don't make much impact here? I'm getting antsy waiting to hear back b/c this school is kind of a top choice for me, but I don't want to be needlessly overbearing....

Yep, basically a waste of time. They assume you still have interest, and are still interviewing people. Once the waitlist forms, then I might give them a call and let them know you want to go here and write an update only if something amazing happened.

Gotcha, just gonna sit tight then. Thank you!

I definitely recommend it. I had a blast.

Does anyone know what the average step 1 score is at Oakland? I know its typically more of an indication of the student's effort studying than the curriculum, but still nice to know as much information as possible!

I think it was addressed before somewhere in this forum or last year's. The school said that there scores were just under the national average which sits at 228. That means that OUWB was probably around there. I'm guessing maybe 225-226 range. I interviewed at another school which has been established since 1960s who disclosed their scores as well. It was the same score range 225-226, also under the national average. So it is probably more directed towards the individual students, but I'm sure that quality of the curriculum would help as well! Hope this helps.
