2014-2015 Oakland University Application Thread

When does Oakland give out acceptances? The 15th or 16th?

I called admissions today for a question - here is what I found. This pertains primarily to applicants on hold.
1. the admissions lady was very nice!
2. Update letters are allowed pre-interview invite
3. Applicants on hold will be re-reviewed once the admissions committee has reviewed the initial batch of all applicants. Expect to hear back in Jan/Feb.

I am confused about #3 because people placed on hold have already been rejected - but maybe that pertains to hold applicants now? PS - I've been on hold since 8/4.

Also - good luck to those waiting to hear back tomorrow!!!

By "on hold" do you mean that Oakland contacted you that you are on hold or just that your status is Application File Complete?

Do you know how to submit pre-II updates?

I got an email on 8/4 stating that my application was placed on hold for further review. I submitted my secondary and was marked complete on 7/2.

Do you know how to submit pre-II updates?

If you go to the application page and click on the upload documents link on the left hand side, there is an option to upload an update letter.

Thanks! Do you know how often/if pre-II update letters are looked at? Like, once I upload my Update, do I have to email them and tell them that I uploaded the letter or will someone just find out and put it in my file? thanks for calling and posting your findings!

I was told that once I upload it, it will automatically be added to my file and will be looked at when my application is rereviewed. Sorry I can't help more!

Thanks! That was a lot of help 🙂

Hi guys,

Does it matter how early you interview in getting an invite ? Like those who interview in September/October Vs. January / February.

Or is each batch of students treated equally and equal chance of being accepted ? Does anyone have any insight on the interview process.

They do rolling admissions, so I would assume it would definitely be an advantage to interview in September rather than February.

While the earlier you interview the better, there are many people in my class from Jan/Feb interviews

Is there any way to keep track of the number of spots that have been filled and number available I understand a lot of people are getting acceptances already.

Congratulations to everyone receiving acceptances! I am looking forward to my interview in November.

So is OUWB done calling for the day? Also for those getting acceptances when did u interview?

Aww no more calls, guess that's a rejection. A shame I really liked this school.

II just now! OOS Lizzy M 65. Good luck everyone and congrats to everyone who is in! Earliest interview dates are January 9 and January 23 and 27! Complete August 11. Never saw any other status and checked few days ago. Received II via email.

@MirageS August 11--religiously checking portal with no change until email. Good luck to all!

when they say the next adcom meeting is on the 29th, does that mean that is when they will do the next round of phone calls?

No I think that's when they review applicants as a group.

I would expect that they make their calls/send acceptances all throughout the week.

I don't believe so. I think the site only tells you the number of interviews that have been granted or attended.

Have they made all the calls for all the applicants they've reviewed?

Or do they still have calls left to make for the ones they have reviewed but hadn't had enough time to get through all the calls?

Can someone clarify?

Check their Twitter page. I think they responded to your question.

Do you think submitting my secondary within the next few days will not be worth it since its so late in the game? Stats are 3.82 and 29.

I interviewed in sept 5, which has been reviewed already, if you don't get a call that doesn't necessarily mean a rejection right? it could be waitlist as well right?

It doesn't mean either. It just means you weren't accepted first round. Generally they accept students every 2 weeks or so. If you aren't accepted the first round, you can still be accepted the second round, third round, etc. You won't know definitively unless you are accepted, rejected via email, or put on the waitlist around March.

Thanks for the clarification!

I feel like my app hasn't even been reviewed yet, but they're almost done with interviews? that's disappointing
