2014-2015 Oakland University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Woot woot! I know right? I submitted OUWB and CMU last night. I am finishing up Carver as we speak.
Yup. Still got Rosalind Franklin and a few do schools! Ended to cutting a few because it didn't seem worthwhile to apply OOS to some of these schools so late

Anyone interviewing this Friday (10/24) wanna car pool from DTW? Flying in on Thursday. I am renting a car, we can split the cost. PM me if interested 🙂

Hello hello! Like the person above, I will be interviewing the 31st of October. I will be renting a car leaving DTW Thursday night to Rochester and heading back DTW the evening of the 31st. Please PM me if you'd like to join and split the cost!

Just received a rejection email... Most curious thing to me is that they'd send an email on a Sunday evening 😛

Best of luck at the rest of your schools! Do you mind sharing when you were complete?

I'm so sorry about this! Was this pre-interview?
And best of luck elsewhere!
Thanks for the consolation. I submitted my secondary on August 14th, and yes, this was pre-interview. Like I said, I'm not too shaken (I'm now at one pre-secondary rejection, two pre-interview rejections, and two II's...these past couple of months have been quite the ride). Best of luck to everyone applying, OUWB seems like a great school!

Awesome! When were you complete?

complete 8/15.

for people who have interviewed at oakland, my return flight is scheduled at 7:57 p.m. Will I make it in time after the interview? Thanks.

Ya you should be fine. I think we finished up around 5:15, and the last part is just an optional campus tour that you can miss if you need to leave. Good luck!

My interview day ended around 5.20( they were running a bit late that day). My return flight was the following morning (Saturday) and it took me a good 1.5 hours to get from Pontiac to DTW. You should be fine but I have no idea about evening traffic on a weekday. So, I would err on the side of caution and leave early if they are running a bit late ( or skip the tour all together). But that's just me, I'm paranoid when it comes to flights

P.S. The tour is awesome btw. The campus is beautiful and the anatomy lab is sparkling clean!
P.P.S. It's quite possible I didn't help you at all 😳:wacky:

Is it either reject or interview invites being sent now?? I've been complete since late August and nothing :-/

I was marked complete early July and didn't hear anything for 2 months. That was early in the app cycle and I imagine it would take them longer to get back to you at this point. Also, on interview day Dean Grabowski mentioned that each application is read twice before the decision is made to extend an interview. It seems like a very thorough process that requires a lot of time. Good luck! And congratulations on your acceptance!

how do you know if you're on hold at this school? Do they send you an email? I have been complete since late August and haven't heard a peep

They sent me a "hold" email. Silence is probably better in my opinion lol...

I think i got accepted. I have a voicemail from her saying to call her back. But I'm waiting for a doc to get out of surgery to interview me right now so I cant! I interviewed 10/3.

Congratulations to all who received the call! Hoping to hear back after next week's meeting :nailbiting:

@MTme: Sorry to hear that! Hopefully you have a good rest of the cycle.

does anyone know what is the post-interview acceptance rate? around 40-50%?

I'd say 50+. 475 interviews, 125 seats. They accept around 2 people for every seat assuming people are going to go elsewhere. So 250ish/475 will be accepted.

On interview day Dean Grabowski said that approx 50-60% are accepted post-interview!

There's still silence on my end and I interviewed 9/12! I guess no news is good news for now...
