2014-2015 Rush Medical College Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those of you who completed this supplementary application, did you get a confirmation email upon submission? My "Submit Application" task still has a red X next to it, instead of the green checkmark it should have. Despite that, it says "Successfully submitted application." I had some weird error happen when I clicked submit, so I want to make sure that it did in fact go through, but I didn't get a confirmation email or anything like that as I have from some other schools.

Thanks.

I got a confirmation "secondary submitted" e-mail, as well as a "application complete" e-mail on the same day that I submitted. I also had the green checkmark at secondary submitted on the status page. When did you submit? I'd give it a few days before worrying if it says you submitted the application. I've noticed that almost all the delays in status updates I have had end up working themselves out automatically.

Sounds like you're a student at Rush, yeah? Maybe you can help me!

What do you know about the entrepreneur and innovation in health management group? Would this be something fitting for someone who has interests in healthcare models and working in healthcare policy?

Thanks

Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about them. I don't even know if a classmate is involved with them since that's the first time I've encountered that group's name. There is a contact listed on the Student Org webpage that you could try for a direct source of info for that group. For the most part, however, most of the health policy-oriented activities I see tend to come from the AMSA group.

Great to know! Thank you.

Apologies if this has been resolved already (didn't see anything from glancing through old replies), but is anyone else receiving a "500 Error Page" when attempting to upload their citizenship papers? Mine says, "Sorry, it appears the page you were looking for doesn't exist anymore or might have beeen moved!"

Edit: Nevermind, I figured out my issue. Either the file was too large or the system was rejecting my PDF file; I converted it to a jpeg file, and everything went smoothly.

Just submitted the secondary to Rush! Time to play the waiting game now

Submitted. Now waiting for last LOR writer to submit their letter.... Good luck to ya'll!

For question 2b, if the duration of the activity is ongoing did you put the hours that you listed on AMCAS (through Aug 2015) or did you put hours up until today?

Thanks!

I did hours up until today, I felt like that was what they were asking for.

What can I do if I don't have any of the citizenship documentation?? I have an expired US passport, no US birth certificate (naturalized citizen), and no permanent resident card, since i'm a damn citizen. Do you think they will accept the expired passport? grumblemumblegrumble. thanks guys

I was in a similar situation and ended up uploading the certificate of naturalization. Hopefully that's proof enough lol

Were you naturalized through your parents? I automatically became a citizen because of my parents and apparently have no certificate of naturalization (according to my parents)...is that even possible? I just wonder how they even obtained a passport for me in the first place haha.

as long as you were under 18 when they became citizens then yes, that's possible

Nope, not through parents. I would assume that the U.S. Passport, though expired, is an acceptable proof of citizenship. You should try giving them a call or email as they suggest. I tried calling multiple times but failed to get a hold of anyone. Didn't want to delay the application so just went with certificate thing.

Ah, that makes more sense. I was very young and didn't know about any of this stuff. Thanks for you guys' help.. gonna upload the expired passport and hope that's proof enough.

had the same issue. I had to use my moms naturalization #

Is it really fine to just submit a picture of your passport page or something? I feel like I'm overanalyzing because they say "photocopy" specifically...but a picture provides the same information -_-

Thanks y'all

I tried to photocopy it but for some reason the scanner would only make it like 3 inches big.. so I included that photocopy plus a photograph of my passport page. I guess it's essentially giving the same info?

Good stuff. I just emailed them and they responded that it was fine to just have a picture!

How are you guys answering these questions in 1000 characters...ugh

they give you 1000 characters for a reason... they don't want your life story, just some facts about you. You make it seem like these 1000 characters are meant to blow them away

Well trying to explain 5 attributes and life experiences that I have had in less than 200 words is more or less a list.

What file size is the max for both the picture and the passport? The app keeps on rejecting my files, and I've tried compressing them multiple times.

Have you tried uploading it as a jpeg file? I initially had trouble with my pdf, but jpeg went through with no problems.

All of my files are jpeg and around 20kb so I'm not sure what's going on..

i have the same problem. can't upload my passport (450kb) and if I try to upload my photo it gives me an error page. when I upload my passport it says error: there is not enough space on the disk. maybe they're overloaded with images??

It only needs to be 2 inches by 2 inches - shrink it to those dimensions in paint or preview if you're using a mac. I had this problem and that resolved it for me

yeah that's what I think? I made my photo the right dimensions and everything. I sent them an email but they probably won't get back to me until Monday 🙁

What Im saying is my photo was way less quality that yours. My 2" by 2" was like 100 kb. When I had it at 450 kb it didnt work.

Yeah, changing the size/making it to like 52 kb didn't work for me either. Just keeps saying "the disk has no more space left." Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I've also tried PDF with no success.

I thought I read somewhere on either this thread or another schools to make the file a .gif? Just an idea to try!

I tried any apparently the file can only be a PDF, JPEG, or DOC..... thank you though! I'll probably just have to wait and call them on Monday.

They actually do not provide a phone number for the medical school admissions office. The phone number that they provide for the medical school is for students only apparently, and if you have application questions, they make you send an email lol.

I was having the same issues with disk space, but the pictures just successfully uploaded. May have been a problem on their end.

I am also having the same problem 🙁 Once I hit save, it sends me to another page saying it's a broken link. What do y'all recommend doing?

Having same issues with uploading pictures.. I even went down to 15kb and it still didn't work.
Is this a system's problem or am I doing something wrong? I made sure the files are in jpeg format.

Yeah I have my secondary pic uploaded, it must be something on their end if we are all having the same problem

yup. was able to upload my pictures and submit my application 30 minutes ago

secondary submitted! finally i was able to upload my photo and citizenship info. good luck to all those who are applying, hopefully i'll be seeing some of you during interviews! 🙂
