Something called clinical immersiom for two weeks. Is there anything that happens between Orientation and the start of classes? Orientation for Idaho is August 20th-22nd, and classes don't start until September 8th.

+1Just received my site placement.
Yes!! I have stared at it an embarrassing number of times willing it to change... According to 2013 data it started to move a little under a week after decisions went out that year. We're at the 1 week mark now so hopefully we'll see some movement soon.Anybody else on the edge of their seats for this image to change?
For those that aren't on the fb page, join so you can get the link for for the roommate sign up! You will need a UW net ID to edit it (or you'll have to wait for me to grant permission).
when is the deadline to accept the seat offer?
Where are you seeing that image? I'm also nervously trying to find out about waitlist movement...Anybody else on the edge of their seats for this image to change?

Just got the same offer. I'm speechless.OOR here (Seattle Placement)
Just received an email from Dr. Teitz about a non-resident tuition waiver! Honestly, there was no way I could pay for the OOR cost of attendance (MS1-2 are $80K each and MS3-4 are upwards of $100k each). Definitely matriculating here now =]
I think most schools expect there to be people that put down a deposit and later back out. They know that this time a year there are a lot of acceptance and waitlist decisions. They just want to know you are willing to hold your spot or if not, they can offer to another student.Hi guys, I have a question about accepting MD offers.. I have another acceptance that has a deadline to accept in two weeks... I am not sure if I could hear from UW by then, as I am on WA WL<10. If I accept the other offer and put down a deposit, can I decline it later in case UW accepts me? I hate to do this, but I can't risk to decline an exisitng offer and wait for UW.... Thanks for your advice!

You can always decline it later and lose the deposit. However at <10, you really are a lock to get accepted being that over the last 15 years the fewest #accepted from the wait-list is 29.
You and I are in similar boats. I am also WL<10, except I put my deposit down for a DO school two months ago. Fortunately the loss is a drop in the bucket compared to the difference in tuition, not to mention the benefit of attending a top 10 school.
If UW is on the same time schedule as last year, you will hear back from them before your deadline. Otherwise, if I were in your position, I would be confident that this year will not be a statistical aberration. Although the insurance policy would be comforting, I would let the other offer expire and wait...
But don't take my word for gold 🙂
South campus (s1) parking has a daily rate of $15, it is right behind health sciences.Anybody have any ideas for parking for 2nd look?
Does UW have daily parking permits?
Here is a link to the match results (because I know some people are curious and want to see it).

I don't want to post the full file because it has the people's names, but I'll attempt to post the cropped images.Got rejected by the UW authorization directive :'(

Edit: It seemed to work for me. And when you get your UW ID, you will be able to go in and see all the previous match information since 2000 with the previous link I posted.
I don't know what we would do without you BABS!
There are a few who matched into Transitional programs. Those are surgical subspecialties like Ortho and Urology, right? Could you explain what Preliminary medicine and Primary medicine programs are?
A transitional program is a 1 year program meant to satisfy the requirements of another residency. Basically, during that 1 year program you go through a bunch of different departments and get a bunch of experience. The following year, you start your "actual" residency. The transitional residencies do not have to be done at the same location as your "actual" residency but some times they are. If you look at that list, pretty much every program after the transitional program is actual the same person. They matched into 2 residencies, the transitional program and then the residency of their choice. I say pretty much, because some of the people did not but that's okay. They will likely match into their desired program next year, taking either the spot of someone that changed their residency or going to a place that did not fill a spot this last year. Preliminary residencies are very similar. It's just another option out there.
Some of the transitional matches are going into radiology, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, etc.
You can read more about it from here if I didn't explain it well enough: http://www.doctorsintraining.com/bl...d-categorical-year-for-residency-application/
Primary medicine programs is internal medicine with a primary care focus. For example, UW has 40 internal medicine residents each year. 20 go the traditional internal medicine route, 20 go the primary care route. They both overlap (meaning the traditional people also do primary care, the primary care also do traditional internal medicine) but they have their focus and do more of their learning in that location. At the end, you could actually do either since you are qualified for both. That's the benefit to doing this rather than doing a family medicine residency.
I got that the first time I applied, with a few bullet points on areas that needed work. I know not everyone gets the same email because others did not get any info on the rejections. I would schedule a time to talk to admissions if you want to strengthen your app.I know everyone is excited about wait lists, acceptances, etc. but I have a question going further back. When I received my pre-interview rejection, the email mentioned something about my application showing promise and encouraging me to apply again. Is that something that just the school being nice and something that is part of everyone's rejection?
Thanks! I will follow up with them.I got that the first time I applied, with a few bullet points on areas that needed work. I don't have the link, but it is Aug 24th for both the Seattle and Spokane campuses.Any word on the first day at the Seattle campus? I saw some people from Idaho saying orientation was August 20. Same deal for the main campus?

Wow I had no idea that UW did tuition waivers for out-of-state, is that new this year? Do you have to qualify for it in some way or is it an offer being made to all out-of-state matriculants?
On another note, I'm sorry to bring this up but... if it's the latter, isn't that going to affect how far they move down the WA/OOR waitlist? Since most of the OOR applicants who reject do so because they get offers from a school that would be comparably priced?

I'm also an OOR student from the East Coast who received a tuition waiver - really, really happy about it! But I'm quite torn between attending UW and attending a school in the Northeast. I'm very humbled by both acceptances, but I'm not really sure which to choose. The other school has a very well-known name and program, but I think UW has a stronger reputation in terms of medical school, although friends/family are a lot more familiar with the name of the other school. I also am a little uncertain about being so far away from family and about being one of the very few OOR students in our program, since I know medical school can be stressful. I *think* I'd like to pursue primary care, but I still want to explore other specialties, although I am interested in rural health. The other school is also in a rural NE town, and if I went to UW, I wouldn't be in Seattle (my choice).
Any other OORs having a hard time making a similar decision, or did any current students at UW make a similar decision? Would love to hear your thoughts/advice/decision process, whether it's by PM or on here! Thanks!!
Nope, I chose Spokane - love the small class size, close-knit environment, smaller city, etc, but am hoping there's other OOR students who chose Spokane as well! You should go where it makes you happy! and especially that Dartmouth is also a great school (I think thats the school you are referring to). Did u choose Seattle and not get the site placement?
I have many classmates who have chosen to do Spokane Track and have really enjoyed the medical community up there - I think you'll have a great experience anywhere you choose to go whether its Spokane or Seattle although in my experience the community feel of medical centers while I've been on my clerkships has been the best part. You make great relationships with attendings, and also professors during your preclinical years. I highly encourage the smaller environmentNope, I chose Spokane - love the small class size, close-knit environment, smaller city, etc, but am hoping there's other OOR students who chose Spokane as well!
Was anyone else blown away be the 2nd look event?
We are definitely attending the best medical school in the United States! I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
I am really excited for the new curriculum. It will be a work in progress, but their changes sounded very helpful and challenging!

To those who went to second look: Would you please share some of the awesomeness from that day with the poor unfortunate souls like me who were unable to go??+1...
So happy to be at UW!😛
Just a quick plug . . .
I'm currently an Idaho MS-1 and my wife and I are looking to get rid of our lease since we're heading to Seattle earlier than anticipated. It's a nice 2 bd 1 1/2 bath duplex at a reasonable price. Good for two roommates or a family. PM for additional details or photos if you're interested.
