Have many other people gotten their waitlisted interview date? I'm currently scheduled for 1/8 but am the first person on the wait list for 11/20

I was the second person waitlisted for today's interview and I ended up getting it, so pick a waitlist date that you're serious about because you just may get locked into it.

Okay thanks! Definitely serious about it

how do you do that?

How do you waitlist? On Interview Broker you click on another date and it asks you if you want to be waitlisted (I think). Then on your main page it will tell you your interview date and your waitlist date.

Just finished my interview here! Awesome school, very relaxed interview.
Can you comment on the interview and the type of questions you were asked? I checked in last year's thread, and it seemed elaborating on the primary application was a big emphasis.

Yeah, most of the interview was just elaborating on my primary application. Without saying too much, they wanted me to elaborate on any good and bad things in my application.

Other than focusing on my primary, they asked pretty typical interview questions- why our school? if you don't get accepted...? why be a doctor? typical ones you'd find in a google search.

First, we went to a nice big conference room and had the secretary talk to us for a while and filled out some paperwork. Then we did lunch and a tour of the hospital and school. Then a 30 minutes interview with 2 interviewers.

Same interview experience with me, except they really didn't ask anything other than for me to elaborate on my AMCAS activities.

Did you get an email saying that you were given your wait listed date or did you have to keep checking? First available date is January 23 :bang:

Yep, I received an e-mail that verified my date had officially been switched. I ended up going on the scheduling website anyways just to double/triple (quadruple) check...

got II today, submitted secondary Sept 3 but not complete until Sept 12. interviewing Feb 5.... they're full until then!

Does anyone here have/ know of somebody else that has a November 20th interview date that is thinking they may cancel? first on the waitlist for that day and trying to figure out the likelihood of interviewing that day.

Hi all, I'll be visiting West Virginia for the football game this weekend. I have an interview here in November. Do you think it is out of line to call the admissions office and ask if it's ok to A. pop my head in tomorrow and introduce myself or B. ask for a med student to take me on a little tour?

I honestly think it's a little late in the week to call and ask them for a tour. You've only given them one or two days notice, and they probably don't have students ready at beck-and-call to give you a tour for this weekend.

First and second years have tests all day today (I'm talking 8-4ish for the second years with a lunch break). So you probably won't find many students around that aren't cramming. The HSC is always open during the weekdays though so you can feel free to come by and look around yourself!

Any EDP applicants hear back yet?
Unless they changed something, you won't hear back until after October 1st. They'll mail out the letter that day and depending in how far away you are will get it in the next few days. I got mine the 2nd, but I live about 10 minutes walking distance from the HSC haha

Do they still only notify people via postal mail? Do you know if you are notified of rejections via postal mail too or will they just leave you until the end of the cycle?

I had a scheduled interview in February last year but heard here that someone had decided not to interview. I contacted the school in late November and got an early December interview slot. If you are really interested in WVU and have a flexible schedule, shoot the admissions office an email in a few months (once people have started getting acceptances to other schools) that if they have interview openings to contact you, because you would be willing to reschedule.

I love this school. Based on my class, I think they are looking for a certain type of person to fill the class. I think med schools pick students on more than just numbers and interests. Like a job would, I think they are looking to create a group of students who match the drive, mission, and personality of the school. For example, we have gunners, but everyone is super helpful to everyone else. It's less competitive and more cooperative. I couldn't possibly be in a school that's better for me.

I did hear from our deans that there are even more applications for the class of 2019 than there were total last year, and last year was a record number. Kids, it'll be a tough med school application season.

If you are rejected outright, they will send you snail mail of that. If you are wait listed, they'll let you know that. And they are really quick about the snail mail. We all received our acceptances within 3 wks of our interview unless we were waitlisted. The last person off the wait list this year was accepted in June or July.

Has anyone here interviewed as a re-applicant after being wait-listed the year prior? I'd like to ask if your second interview had completely different questions than those asked in your first interview.

It's all snail mail until later in the cycle. They'll tell you either got in or are being deferred to the regular application cycle then. I'm not sure if they ever "reject" anyone, but the latter is not so good to hear.

Do letters of recommendation have to be received by the due date of your secondary? I received my secondary today but on AMCAS I had indicated I was sending one letter packet. One of my recommenders (a physician) had to leave the country a month ago because of a death in the family and won't be able to have the letter submitted until ~3 weeks or so. While I don't want to send my letter packet without his letter (he's the only recommender within the health field), I also don't want to miss the application deadline. 🙁

My advice... don't miss the deadline. Deadlines are a big deal for "professionalism". We had several talks the first week about not strolling in late to class. If you are able to uncheck the box on AMCAS stating you were sending one letter packet, things are easier because they know you have no control over your recommendation letters. If that letter doesn't arrive in time, do you have a good shot at acceptance to medical school? Are your numbers good? It's worse to get rejected and have to reapply than be a first time applicant in a future year.

If WVU is your first choice, you can email the admissions office, let them know your dilemma and ask for advice. They are wonderful.

Hey guys, if you got stuck with a later interview in 2015 like me, check the broker page! I just got my January interview rescheduled to December, 6 weeks sooner! 🙂

I didn't know either, just decided to log in for the heck of it and saw all of the open December dates like 😱

I'm glad I was able to help someone else out, best of luck to you!

Should I expect to receive a confirmation email that they received my required photo? Completed secondary yesterday along with emailing the photo, received a confirmation on everything except the photo and have yet to hear anything else.

No confirmation for the photo (I didn't get a confirmation and still got an II so they must have gotten it)

Hey guys,
So I received a secondary invite this week and am working on submitting it now. I do have a random question:
I can't convert my files to PDF on this computer (for the essays). Did anyone submit their essays as a word document instead of PDF?

Google Drive will allow you to do this. There is an option to "download as pdf" (under "File") once you type your stuff there..

I submitted as word documents and got an II so I don't know how pertinent it is to have it in PDF form.

Has the turn around time for iis after secondaries increased? Any one complete secondaries in late September and receive iis yet?

Email them to make sure you are complete! And don't email the secondary email address.

I never got an agenda other than the email they sent with the interview invite and telling me what time to be there. When you get there you get the agenda.

Ahhhh I see it! My interview date got changed quite bit, so I wasn't looking at the original email. I was just expecting an email the week before like other schools do but thank you 🙂

No problem!! I panicked about that too cause I'd changed my date to be earlier. I had wished they'd sent an email like all the other schools did but it worked out just fine haha.
