I am pretty sure it is the same thing as the waitlist.

Got an email informing me that I was placed on the alternate list. 🙁 How is that different than the waitlist? They say I won't hear anything more from them until spring.
When did you interview? I interviewed the last week of October and am trying to gauge how long it will be before I hear back.

I heard yesterday, which was about 8 weeks to the day, I interviewed mid-september. So hopefully you should hear by New Year's, could be later though, I assume things might slow down a tad around that time because of the holidays.

I had my interview here today!
And my student host really sold the school to me. The actuall building Ross Hall is not very impressive, it's kind of old - the CLASS part of the building is brand new and beautiful though! The students and opportunities are seriously amazing. The GWU hospital right beside Ross hall is beautiful too.
I had my interview with a really great student, and the dean of admissions. Out of the 20 of us, I think she only interviewed a few. And the other interviewees and the students said she could be intimidating, but I think she may have liked me! I feel really great about it.
Foggy bottom is such a vibrant and exciting neighbourhood.

Rejected for a few days now, submitted in late August I believe. Good luck to the rest 🙂

complete mid Aug. survived D-day.... this has been a roller coaster. Perhaps the rejection train hasn't plowed through August apps (most people that got dropped were complete earlier in July)? any thoughts?

People have been rejected that were complete in September too. I think that, at this point, July - Sept apps are on equal playing field for rejection time frames. But that is just my conjecture.

No, I got it back on Monday, but it's been a really hectic week and finally got a chance to sit down and catch my breath. I almost forgot to post, but I remembered how seeing other people's posts encouraged me not to lose hope and not to doubt myself 🙂 keep your head up everyone!

Gotcha, congrats!

Does anyone know how much of their waitlist get an acceptance? The email said that many end up getting accepted, but I'm not sure if they were just saying that to be nice and make me feel better haha. I really liked school when I visited.

Not sure if this is of any help to you but last year 1150 people were interviewed, 320 were accepted and 178 matriculated, so I assume they pull a decent amount from the waitlist

do you get an email update if status changes from on hold to under review? And wish you luck!

No, I just happened to check and see that I was under review. So who knows when exactly I went back under review. Wish they sent emails!

placed on hold for re-review (submitted 11/7....yeah...I know...so way beyond late). So there does not appear to be a clear consensus on the meaning of holds, correct? For those who received an II or rejection, what was your complete/hold/II or reject date?

I think the consensus is pretty clear. They've reviewed you, they're not offering you an interview at this time, but they'll review you again later and might then decide to reject you or give you an II.

Also, if you're looking for complete dates of people who got hold/II or reject, just look through the thread. Most people post their complete date when they get a decision.

You shouldn't have the "under review" status for too long. You should hear back within a few days about whether you were put on hold or invited for a II.

I think they were already on hold and are being re-reviewed. Can you be put back on hold or is either a rejection or II?

I wonder of those who interviewed in late October will hear back by thanksgiving ... I know they say 8-10 weeks, but for some people it's 4 or so?

The wait is the worst ... I just want to know! Lol

II today, complete 8/24 and was subquentially put on hold in September. Oos and reapplicant (alternate list)!!
II today!! Complete 8/12, placed on hold for re-review, then went back under review yesterday!
I was complete exactly between both of you (08/18) and also placed on hold in september but no news for me today 🙁

Post-interview waitlist today via email. Interviewed Early October. Good luck to everyone else!

ah sorry to hear that, I heard they interview a ton of people for each seat though.

They say 8-10 weeks. It's almost 8 weeks next week!
It seems like people who are getting waitlisted are hearing back a little earlier (<8 weeks) post-interview?
I don't know if this is true for everyone but that's the sense I'm getting from those on here.
