Just got the ax, pre-interview. Complete 8/20, LizzyM ~67. A little bummed out because this is my dream school, but oh well.

Good luck to those still in the running!

rejected just now, complete 8/20
I'm sorry everyone, I'm sure you'll go on to do incredible things! Question though - did you get an email? I was complete right around you guys and I'm wondering if I'll be getting the same email in a few minutes...

Been complete since August. Is anyone else in the same boat? Is it recommended to contact admissions after an extended period of silence such as this?

Hasn't been that long, really, and it seems like they haven't even gotten to September complete dates yet.

Just got a rejection email . Very disappointed, but good luck to everyone else!

Sorry about the rejections I am bracing myself..when were you guys complete? Was this pre- interview?

Rejected this morning. Complete September 1st.

Interviewing this week and still haven't heard back about a host student. Is it probably not going to happen at this point? Should I send a follow-up email?
Excited to visit Georgetown! 🙂

Definitely try to send a follow-up e-mail, the application season is very busy and they probably get a little slow. If things still don't work out, may I ask when is your interview? I can try to ask my classmates.

I'm pretty sure they said it would take 8 weeks to hear back, right? Interviewed 9/22...still nothing. Hoping to hear soon.

Does anyone know if these interviews are open or closed file? If open, did they pull much from personal statements, essays, etc. during the interview? Thanks!

Apparently it's open file but blinded to grades and MCAT. My interviewer asked me nothing about my application, why Georgetown, or why medicine, so they probably read it beforehand and wanted to see how I act in person. It was weird though because Ms. Sullivan (you'll meet her) said to have answers ready for these questions.... Although my interview went as well as it could have, I was pretty thrown off afterwards that they didn't ask me those. My only guess is that I answered it well enough on my applications. Regardless, I'd have a solid idea as to what you will say for those two questions.

My interviewer definitely addressed my personal statement. I don't remember if he specifically talked about my secondaries at all. Honestly, I loved my interview experience at this school. They are definitely very relaxed and just trying to get to know you. They really just want to see if you will be a good fit for their school.

I'm planning on sending a letter of interest/update - I see on the secondary portal you can't upload any attachments (PDF) and that it's "text only". Anyone have any issues copy and pasting a letter into that field? I imagine the paragraphs would get all messed up.

Hey all, just was wondering if anyone could talk a little bit about the interview day itself. How many interviewers? End time? Trying to work out travel plans, etc. Thank you!

The interview day was amazing. You show up any time between 9:30am - 10am to the waiting room directly left from the entrance. There will be a flat screen TV mounted displaying your fellow interviewees names and schools. My interview day had 12 total candidates. At 10am, you'll get a short intro followed by a 15-20 minute talk from the associate dean (he's a funny guy and left a great impression). Then you'll have a 60-90 minute speech from Mrs. Sullivan. She was mesmerizing and motivational. I really felt that Georgetown was a great fit for me after her talk.

Around noon, a couple med students will break you guys up into two groups (we only had 1 student available to take us around, which was a bit crammed) and take you on a tour of the facilities. You'll have lunch with them as well (fancy buffet style) between 12:45pm - 1:15pm. Then they'll take you back to the waiting room. Half of you will interview at 1:30pm and the other half at 2:15pm. You'll find out which time slot you have after you get back from lunch. I had a 2:15pm slot and was done at about 2:50pm. They try to stick to the 30 minute time frame. The interview will be 1-on-1 with a either a 4th year med student or someone associated with the school (a doc, prof, or dean). After the interview, you check-out and you're free to go.

As for travel plans, I stayed at the Savoy Suites Hotel, which was in walking distance (roughly 20 minute walk). I like Alaska airlines and unfortunately they only had a 5:30pm flight out of Baltimore and that would have been too tight to leave the day of the interview so I stayed two nights and I'm glad I did because I walked around the DC area the next day and really liked the possibility of living there for 4 years.

Hope that helps!

Rejected pre ii just now, complete end of August. LizzyM ~68-69, over 8000hrs of "service to the community" as a police officer/paramedic. Letter of interest sent last week as well. Oh well! :/ good luck to everyone else in the running.

Interviewed late Sept; waitlisted just now via e-mail. Time to write a letter!

Good luck to everyone else in the same position.
