2015-2016 Northwestern University (Feinberg) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone else not able to log in? I've been trying since yesterday to no avail. 🙁

Safari wasn't working for me either when I submitted yesterday, so I used Firefox. Today Safari works, though I did restart my computer between yesterday and today.

Could someone help ease my paranoia? I just submitted the Feinberg supplemental app, but I forgot to double check the tabs on the left side above the Essay 1 space to check if I needed to input any information or check any boxes (I think there was one about competences and one about the MCAT, but I remembered them being all info). If I submitted answers to Essay 1, 2, 3, and 5 (4 and 6 did not apply to me) am good to go, or did I miss something?

Uh oh... you may have missed the check box that said, "If you would like to receive automatic acceptance into the Feinberg School of Medicine, please check this box."

Haha, just kidding... I wish. The only things above Essay 1 that required any action were the Personal Information/Application Checklist, State of Illinois Background Check, and MCAT Requirements

Northwestern offers an incredibly in-depth look at their curriculum structure and learning style. Did you guys just choose to focus on certain aspects that most appeal to you in your essay? I was trying to touch base on everything, but there's no way to go into any sort of detail then.

I focused on a couple aspects and how those aspects fit my learning style. Definitely no way to go through all of them and talk about how they each individually work for you.

What action was required on those sections? I probably did it when I first logged into the application, but because I didn't double check before submitting, I feel really uneasy about it all.

Same, now I'm super paranoid. I don't remember filling out this secondary at all, so I have no idea if I filled out that stuff or not.

Unfortunately, I submitted the application yesterday. But from what I remember, Personal Info was like address and stuff, Background Check was just saying you agree to do one after acceptance, and MCAT Requirements was a selection of "hold my application until i retake my MCAT" or "my MCAT score will stay as stands". I'm fairly confident that they were all things that you had to do something for or else the form wouldn't let you submit.

Have we reached a consensus on why the 2016 applicant portal routes to "Entering 2015 Feinberg School of Medicine"? I'm hoping it's just a typo, and I didn't just submit a secondary for last year's class. 😱

Went out on a limb on my coping essay. Hopefully doesn't hurt me

My philosophy is that if I answer all the questions authentically and genuinely and don't get accepted, the school wouldn't have been a good fit for me anyway, and I might've been miserable there. As long as you wrote about coping and not problem solving, as they clarified in the question, I think you did your best and have nothing to worry about.

I accidentally made that mistake, and then went back and had to rewrite it 🙁

Chicago schools seem to be big on coping--probably because you have to deal with the terrible weather there you can't change 😆

Haha I personally think there's nothing better than winter in Chicago! ...Not that I'll be able to afford to skate at Millennium Park as a med school student, but I can still enjoy the view.

Nights like that pictured are beautiful, but walking through the blowing snow with -30 wind chills? All you can do it cope.

Anyone else notice that in the secondary they made you mark the box saying you knew what their crime stats were?

How is the education philosophy distinctive?

Hahahaha yes that made me laugh. I live about a hundred feet from the ghetto in Cleveland so I've become numb to crime.

Did you all interpret "coping skills" as kind of how you are able to relieve stress and relax so that you can take on the challenge? For example, going to the gym?

yeah. it explicitly says no problem solving, so things that help you deal with something you can't change.

Although admittedly, I've been saving some loading/server issues accessing this site as well, which may have led to the multiple posts ?
