Nov 18. They meet every other Wednesday.does anyone know when next adcom is? I'm frustrated that they started looking at 10/16 before finishing 10/9 so silence is inconclusive for both dates, but maybe they have a good reason for not going in order
thanks!Nov 18. They meet every other Wednesday.
Did anyone here get any responses this time around? Calls or post-interview rejections?
I interviewed on 10/2 with radio silence on my end. I keep thinking no news is good news, but the wait is excrusciating :/
I know there essentially no way I'd receive a II now with them probably mostly gone, but I'm withdrawing myself today before they inevitably reject me and I feel some sort of vindication! Good luck everyone!
That's good, still withdrawing due to another acceptance at a top choice. Best of luck to everyone, from what I've read OUWB is a great school! This is posted on their website! There is still hope 🙂
Interview Positions Filled: 386 (As of 11/04/15)
Note: We will continue to invite applicants to fill cancelled interview slots.
Class Size: 125
Number of Interviews Completed: 173 (As of 11/04/15)
Anticipated Number of Interviews: 500
I thought the interview day was really enjoyable and informative, despite how daunting a full-day interview can seem on paper. Everyone involved was really welcoming at each stage of the day and I was impressed by the strong presence of staff and students, reinforcing that supportive environment. The interviews themselves were very relaxed and I agree with @pageantry that they are designed to make the applicant feel comfortable so they can get to know you. I think for these types of interviews you have to know your app really well but also know yourself really well (ie. strengths, weaknesses, experiences, etc.). I think you are going to have alot of fun, @Sara_Emmalyn. Good luck!Interviewing here soon! MCAT: 31, GPA: 3.8.
Can anyone comment on their interview day? Were the interviewees scary? Did you feel stressed or at ease? Any particular things I should focus on??
Haha man, i have never in my life considered myself a "perfect fit" anywhere, tbh (and kinda emo) about it. My perspective on myself is not perfect or anything, but what I would like to convey is that they seem to be okay with oddballs, dreamers, and critical thinkers. And from what I am gathering from others who got scholarships, they love to see a huge work ethic and a heart for service.Wow! Congrats on the scholarship, @pageantry! I would definitely take your advice to heart since you must be the perfect fit with the OUWB mission and values.
Soooo I am wondering... Do you guys think they will get around to responding to those who got their secondaries in at the end of August? I got mine in on the 24th...
Silence sssuuuucckkksss its making me all paranoid and nervous 🙁
My status for their application has been application complete with the little green check for almost two months. I know a lot of the other apps show when they are actually reviewing your app. Has anyone saw a status change between app complete and II? Kinda freaked out something went wrong and my app hasn't even been reviewed yet!

Same here. Not sure what to make of the silence. I've mentally prepared for a rejection or wait list at this point. We'll see, I guess!
Called the admissions office and asked them about this situation. Basically they said that post-interview, there are a few things that could happen.
1) If you did not meet their qualifications - Rejection, no pandering, they let you know asap.
2) You meet their minimum criteria - Tier 3 WL, they also let you know asap.
3) You are a rock-star - Acceptance call after adcom meeting every 2 weeks
4) You are more like Bono from U2 - They keep considering until either #3 happens or it becomes March. At which point they will put you on T1 or T2 waitlist.
Interesting tidbit from the call: If you are in consideration, there is really only option 3 or 4 that could happen. So at the very least, waitlist in March? Anyway, thats the gist that I got.
But it seems like (at least from the limited pool of interviewees here on SDN) no one has received a T3 waitlist yet either. Just received an II! Complete late August. So thankful!
Anyone have the statistics for acceptances/matriculants for here? Looks like the class size was 75 the first year, 100 the next two years, and 125 last year. I suppose the class size will be 125 again?
Why expectedAlso rejected, 38 mcat and 3.7 GPA, IS. Expected, not heartbroken. Complete 8/11. Good luck with the rest of the cycle y'all!
II! Complete late August...others with IIs, do you guys only have Feb dates available??
Same boat.I was complete in late August too...inbox is still empty...*bites nails*
Does OUWB do holds?
Sorry to hear you got rejected and I really do wish you good luck with your cycle, but...
I just want to clarify for other applicants that OUWB is located in Rochester, MI with our clinical rotations in Royal Oak and Troy, all of which are at least half an hour and 15 miles away from downtown Detroit. Rochester, where we have our pre-clinical classes, is almost 50 minutes away not counting traffic. All of these areas are actually pretty wealthy. The towns/neighborhoods where we have class, go to clinics, hang out, and where the vast majority of students live are totally safe and it seems to me that most people (including women) feel reasonably comfortable walking around campus/their neighborhoods alone.
Also, Detroit is actually a pretty cool city and I like having it within driving distance. I don't deny that it's facing significant economic hardship and there are places that are dangerous, but like any city, if you're smart you'll be perfectly fine, especially in the more popular areas to live/visit. A lot of people go down to the city on the weekends to the Detroit Institute of Art, Tigers games, restaurants, casinos, cultural festivals, etc. That said, because there are a lot of people who are struggling in Detroit (and Pontiac, which is much closer to OUWB), there are tons of community service opportunities for students who are interested in working with underserved populations.

They have your PS and activities, no grades mcat or UG school info. You should take the time to read through the thread - I'm sure it will answer some of your questionsCan anyone who has already interviewed please explain what the school means by having semi blind interviews? Can I find out an interviewer's name beforehand? Also, any tips for how to prepare would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance!
Do you think it would be smart to have a coat or raincoat for Interview Day?
Was there some outside walking?
If there was not too much time outside I don't want to wear one but I will if need be.
There's outdoor walking during the optional tour at the end of the day. And you might have to walk outside to your interview room. I think a coat would be reasonable in this chilly weather 🙂Do you think it would be smart to have a coat or raincoat for Interview Day?
