Ahaha well then I guess I'll assume I got waitlisted for now~ will confirm once I get on my laptop hahaha at least now I won't have to feel anxious during my interview tomorrow!

Rejected. No red or blue text. Pretty upset about it, but I should have known, considering my stats are so low. Good luck to everyone else!
 
Anyone know what kind of waitlist movement there's been in past years?

First tier, hopeful for the future - congrats to all of those who received an acceptance!
 
Does anyone know how we will find out about scholarships? I remember Pitt saying that we will find out at the time of acceptance--but this was just a portal update. Anyone know if we'll also get a call, snail mail, email, etc. with more details then?
 
Since this is my first acceptance, how do we go about accepting/reserving our spot? Thanks in advance for the help!

I believe if you are awarded a scholarship they will include the award letter with the mailed acceptance letter, which may take a couple weeks.
 
Looked through last year's thread - someone called and was told "mid-February" [waitlist] movement would start. A couple of days later, someone posted that "Admissions said this morning that movement should start for 1st tiers in late February..."

The first posts by people who got off the waitlist was on February 23rd (4 people total posted about getting accepted). Then someone got accepted the next day, then the next post about getting off the waitlist was on March 1st.

I feel like waitlist movement is totally dependent on how fast/slow or decisive the accepted applicants are in their decision for Pitt that year, so I'm not sure if you can extrapolate to a totally different group of people?

That said, I'm on the waitlist so I'd love it if you were proved right 😏

I think the same thing happened the cycle before that too, so I'm really hoping.

Wouldn't changes to top school decision release dates (probably where most Pitt acceptees are waiting to hear) be the only variation that would change student response? And I'm not sure if dates really changed dramatically this year but I doubt it. So I feel like using last years thread is pretty dependable for seeing WL movement. Temples admissions for example outrightly said on interview that they are being more careful about too many acceptances (was very transparent about expected changes). Pitt hadn't said anything. However I would call late Feb "spring" I really hope Pitt doesn't mean Like April

Same! Fiancee and I got different results here - 1st tier for me and 2nd for him - and we've already been accepted to another school in a desirable location on the west coast.

Well I got accepted so I personally am not worried. That said, there are several years of data suggesting that (most, if not all, of) those on the first tier waitlist eventually secure an acceptance. At any rate, it sounds like this was a successful cycle for you and your SO, so either way, you're set! Congrats!

i couldn't figure out how to reserve either; maybe it's by filling out the survey?
 
I'm not sure if it's the same deal now, but 4 years ago the way we "reserved" our spot was sending in the deposit after May 15 (that used to be the date after which you could only hold 1 acceptance). Just complete the forms and await further instructions.

I did not see anything on the portal to reserve the spot. I am assuming we will receive more information by snail mail or maybe a future email.
 
Does the unit loan concept at Pitt work similarly to other schools where you can add your family contribution to the unit loan and whatever is left will be covered by need based grants from the university?
