Also, looking at the interview day schedule, it seems as though there are only 6 interviewees per day. Is that right?

There are normally multiples of 6 per tour group. So either close to 6 or 12. But there can be as many as 15 that I saw, but there were two tour groups.

Ok so there are 6 interview time slots but multiple interviewees per time slot. Makes more sense. Thank you 🙂
 
do you guys know if there is a writing prompt that we are asked to write about on our interview days?
 
In state - received rejection email today. Pretty surprised, thought I would at least get an interview (or hoped). Here's my stats. Good luck to everyone else!

GPA: 4.0
MCAT: 513
Completed Application: 9/8
Secondary Complete: 7/8
Few hundred hours of research
Several hundred hours of community service, and several hundred hours of service abroad
 
I interviewed at a school before and we were asked to write a short essay about an ethical topic for like 30 min, and my friend who applied to dental schools last cycle told me some of the schools required short essays on interview days
 
Has anyone been able to upload a photo to the interview portal page?
 
My photo upload page doesn't have a button for upload or save. I'm not even sure how to open my files to add the photo since it's just a blank page with the photo place holder and the note about image size.
 
@BABSstudent wondering if you could give me some feedback. I got an ii 8/31...still no email for dates. I am starting to believe I accidentally deleted (though I've been super meticulous) or could it be that it's normal to wait almost 4 weeks for the date schedule email? Should I call? I am leaving for Europe in 15 days, so I'd likely interview once I am back....I don't want to email them and delay or mess up the planned date they may have and it ends up being while I am away. ::trying to be patient::

Wow - finally received secondary application yesterday!

I sent in my mission statement (I'm OOS) way back in August, and had pretty much given up on them!

Now time to start working on those 5 secondary essays I guess :-/

Go ahead and call them. It would be better to give them the dates you are not available upfront than wait until they assign a date.

Did you already pick a date? They wrote "upload a photo before choosing an interview date" multiple times. If you already chose a date you won't be able to upload the photo on the website
 
Rejected today pre-interview. Application complete 8-8-15.
GPA: 3.8
MCAT: 34
In-State
Community Service strong.
Research weak.

1st rejection comes from the hometown school.
 
Wow so many pre Interview rejections from strong IS candidates... What is up? Makes me question why I received an II...
 
i know interviewers will have access to our essays but can they also look at our gpa, mcat, and such?

From my understanding only one will have the stats portion, the other two just your writings (if at all?)
 
II yesterday. IS, 72 LizzyM, with strong research experience. Complete 7/24. Happy to have the support of my alma mater. Takes the sting out of my rejection from Pittsburgh yesterday

Every interview panel consists of an EXCOM member that will represent you at the monthly decision meetings, and two other faculty/community physician/student/someone from the community.

I was under the impression the EXCOM member has complete access to your application, I mean, he is going to represent you at the monthly EXCOM meeting. Then the other two interviewers don't have access to your GPA and MCAT... But do they have access to other things? Your ECs, LOR’s, essays, etc?

Anyone know?

This is correct. They have access to everything except grades and MCAT. EXCOM has seen everything including grades and MCAT but doesn't vote unless there is a divergence of opinion.
 
For what its worth to anyone I just received my confirmation email of requested interview date and time.
 
Just called about my dates conflict before they send me the schedule email and got an answer...only to receive the schedule email an hour later with ONE date available mid-trip :\ Does anyone else see any other dates available (maybe in Nov) aside from Oct. 23rd? 😵

Just wait a day or two they'll probably add days.
Edit: they DEFINITELY will add days
 
EDIT: Anyone know how "professional" the photo has to be? I will be leaving in two weeks, and don't have time to get a suit and all that for a business photo. I lost my two suit jackets during a trip this past march. -_-

What were you planning on wearing to your interviews?
 
So folks who recently got the scheduling email, are the current dates available all end of Oct/early Nov? I got injured recently and I'm really hoping I'll be healed before this interview because walking right now is rough 🙁

A suit but I was going to shop for it after I come back from my trip, but UW requires you to upload a pic before scheduling your interview date....which seems to be a month out as it is....I don't want to wait to schedule.

I got my ii on 8.31 and just got the schedule email today...after calling them. I only saw one date available 10/23 but more dates are supposed to open as days progress. The ii is usually 3-4 weeks before the dates they give out.

Fingers crossed I'm out of the boot before my dates then, I'm supposed to be out of it about a month from now if all goes well but it could be longer.

Also, I think wearing a button down or something like that would probably be fine for the photo? Just guessing off some of the others I've seen from other schools' incoming class lists and all that, a lot of them have a blouse/shirt & tie but no jacket.

Yeah now that I think about it I'm actually just wearing a button-up in my picture so I'm hoping that's fine
 
I know of at least one school that also uses that photo for your student ID if and when you're accepted. I like that UW asks for the photo after they give you an II. For schools that ask for it with your secondary i know that it's mainly used for identification purposes, but i can't help but feel a bit uncomfortable about the concept of providing a photo with the application. Even with folks who have the best of intentions, studies have shown how powerful of an influencer one's looks can be.
 
Have any Idaho residents been able to schedule an interview yet? I know they aren't until winter...

Anyone know how often they add interview days? Currently only Oct 28th is available and I have an interview in DC that day...
