IS, just got secondary!
I checked their site and they said that they will accept 2 (at least 1 from faculty, second must be from employer or grad school if you've already graduated and are working or are in grad school). They don't mention anything about additional letters...MSAR says we can submit up to 8 LoR, but only gives us the option to write about 2 of them
For those who have already received a secondary, on which date was your primary verified? I'm trying to figure out how much longer I can hold off pre-writing those massive prompts.
June 22nd!For those who have already received a secondary, on which date was your primary verified? I'm trying to figure out how much longer I can hold off pre-writing those massive prompts.
+1Can we treat the challenges/obstacles question as a typical challenge question or is it more general life challenges? like i have a challenging situation that I have used for other school prompts but not an overall life obstacle
Do you think pick at least two really means answer all three or you're donating us your application fee?
I'm assuming for the required essays...we pick 2 of 3? Unless we really wanted to do all 3?
"Required Essay Questions (Pick at least two)"
@Pathdocmd for the prompt
"The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) lists 15 entry-level core competencies for medical school applicants: Service Orientation, Social Skills, Cultural Competence, Teamwork, Oral Communication, Ethical Responsibility to Self and Others, Reliability and Dependability, Resilience and Adaptability, Capacity for Improvement, Critical Thinking, Quantitative Reasoning, Scientific Inquiry, Written Communication, Living Systems, and Human Behavior. (See AAMC webpage for full definitions using hyperlink below).
Please pick ONE of the competencies and describe how your background and experiences highlights the competency and prepares you for medical school. Do not duplicate information provided elsewhere in the secondary application or in your AMCAS personal statement (400 words or less)."
my question might sound dumb, but does that mean we can't talk about the experiences that we discussed in our secondary/ps?
or just that we can't copy/paste?
and for the question
"Describe any connection you have to Wake Forest School of Medicine, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, or North Carolina (200 words or less)."
even if we have no connections, can we still discuss why we want to attend Wake Forest?

i sent more than that. i think it's fineSo is the consensus that we should only send 2 LOR since that's what they sad they'd accept? I'm thinking I should just play it safe on this one...
Yeah I got one, didnt callSo has anyone with a May 2015 MCAT received a secondary without calling?
I kind of mention resilience and adaptability in my diversity for a single paragraph and my challenge essay is pretty much entirely about changing my methods to adapt to a difficult situation, think that would be enough?I wrote two. My diversity essay covers one of the competencies as well, so I figured I was good.
Personally, I think it is.I kind of mention resilience and adaptability in my diversity for a single paragraph and my challenge essay is pretty much entirely about changing my methods to adapt to a difficult situation, think that would be enough?
Yeah I think they're be cool with that unless you have a nice collection that fit well together.for the second question regarding obstacles/challenges, do you think it would be fine to just focus on one obstacle/challenge?
The link is kind of wonky if you're visiting it for a second+ time because of browsing history/cookies or whatever (it's stated on the login page) so I'm planning to fill it out on Chrome incognito since I was able to access it just fine with that.is anyone else having trouble accessing the secondary?
263 words sounds fine to me. But if you're really worried maybe you can add the new paragraph with some kind of clever transition? Like idk the specifics of your disease essay, but possibly something like "circumstantial obstacles are not the only ones i've conquered; i also seek challenges" or somth.I wrote one challenge/obstacle but it was only 263 words so I'm not sure if that is too short and I should add another story... I could write about training for a half marathon but idk if that counts as an obstacle/challenge. Not to mention that my other obstacle is about dealing with a disease so the two would clash horribly :/
Any suggestions?
You are at no disadvantage in answering 2 of the 3.I feel that my answers to all the required secondary questions will be similar in many ways too. I wonder whether we'd be at a disadvantage to just do 2 out of the 3 essays instead of all 3.
I think that goes for every admissions committee member at every school.I think they'd rather read a short succinct essay than a long rambling one.
