Was complete 8/26, no news....
Really want a freaking II

8/26 isn't that long of a wait still. I was complete early August and I'm sure there are many complete in July and may even late June that haven't heard as well. Keep calm, this is a long process. Interviews run at most schools from September through April

however i think residence for financial aid/loan etc. you can change it if u qualify

@baratheonfire I'm pretty sure this has been discussed extensively in other threads, but this whole process is most definitely not linear and does not go in chronological order.

Perhaps you could benefit from getting one of those adult coloring books or something to help pass the time. I also do not have any MD interviews and I understand it is frustrating, but hang in there! I'm not sure posting every 6 minutes about this is helpful. There is literally nothing you can do to speed up this process.

Its not over yet, you don't need to give the rest of us who are also without interviews secondary anxiety on the interwebs 🙂

I just uploaded them to the portal, under the "thank you letter" option. It might not help but I just like thanking people

They were very clear during the interview: whatever thank you notes you have, scan a copy to the portal and then send it to the respective recipients however you want.

Yeah, JFK is best, though still not super convenient. UberPool has a flat fee of $35 to/from JFK (this applied in Manhattan, I assume it would be the same for Long Island as well). Alternatively, you can take the AirTrain to Long Island RailRoad, which would be cheaper but take longer. If you're staying at a hotel, they also might have a shuttle.

Highly doubt it. They haven't sent out rounds of decisions yet so it wouldn't make sense for them to invite people to interview for the waitlist

OK I don't want to sound ungrateful but I want to justify spending money to go on an interview to this school. What are some big strengths of the MD program at Hofstra ? How risky is it as a new school with only a few graduated classes?

Aside from having some of the prettiest and more zen-like facilities I've seen in a medical school, I think that their strength is in their curriculum. It's quite unique in that all classes are required and you MUST learn to work in a team and develop those soft skills you need in medicine early on. I feel like they will prepare you to be the doctor of tomorrow. Their match list is pretty awesome too. And the Northwell system they are partners with seems very established and I believe it can give you an opportunity to participate in a variety of clinical experiences.

IMO there are some truly unique aspects to the school, at least with their pre-clinical curriculum. I say this having interviewed at quite a few other schools. In particular, they have open response questions on their tests, and have students write essays. Personally this is a negative for me, but if you think you would enjoy that it could be a positive. I imagine it's a more effective way of testing and learning the material because you can have more nuanced questions and answers.

Also the early clinical experience is different from most schools. The first few weeks, M1's all become certified as EMT's and do ride-alongs on ambulances, participate in MCI training with FDNY, etc. This is probably great experience because it allows students to see patients in a setting other than the hospital first, lets them experience being the lowest man on the totem pole, and gives them some basic assessment / treatment skills to generally become more comfortable and competent around patients throughout the rest of school.

Can't say what difference going to a new school makes, but I attended an interview at Hofstra in September, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really liked the school. A pull for me toward the program was the emphasis on small-group, active learning and the EMT training during first year. Also, everyone seemed extremely supportive and positive about listening/responding to student ideas. Unless you have another option in hand that you really like, I'd recommend attending the interview because I didn't truly appreciate the school until I actually went to the interview day.
