2016-2017 Indiana University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm OOS and interviewed at the Gary location. It felt a lot like many other interview days. I interviewed in the morning. I interviewed with 2 staff members and a visitor for 30ish minutes. In the middle there was some lunch and information presented about IU, the different campuses, financial aid, etc. The campus there is really tiny, so the tours were quick. But the staff and students were extremely friendly, inviting, and interested in our success. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with my interview day. Good luck!
Thank you so much!

Hey guys I am scheduled for an interview at the Lafayette (Purdue) campus on 1/11 and am wondering if those of you who have interviewed there can tell me about your experience and how your interviews went and what I should expect overall. Thanks in advance!

can any OOS applicants who have attended an interview please give some indication of what the day was like? I interview next week at the Gary location, but any feedback would be appreciated 🙂

My husband went to the Gary campus for an interview too and he didnt like it (the campus) and said that the interview was tough and full of scenarios but he got in. My interview is in Indianapolis next Wednesday so well see how it goes. Best of luck to you!

I have an interview at the Gary campus. Does that mean I am being interviewed for a position at that particular campus? Or can I still go to school in indianapolis because I would much rather do that

Where you interview has no bearing on what campus you attend should you be accepted.

Is any local/in state/or out of state student in town and wanting to meet up at the school today? I'm heading out in an hour or so to get acquainted with it.

I definitely wouldn't, but that is just me. It's like 40 cents to print one at Walgreens and takes less than a minute.
I printed on regular paper the morning of my flight, and I was accepted. I don't think it has an impact whether you print it in regular paper or photo paper. Do what you feel comfortable with.

My MCAT score was pretty much all my interviewer wanted to talk about. They already knew that part so I'm really not sure why they even invited me.
😱 dang that's annoying...and makes me nervous for my interview lol. 🤔

Overall, I really enjoyed the school and the people. But in my interview, I don't understand how my interviewer got to really know me because he did most of the talking. He seemed to like the answers to the stock questions he gave me, but I really don't know how to feel about my interview.

Alright thanks! I've based a lot of my interviews on the vibes I get when I'm there but this will be especially difficult with me not knowing which campus I'll end up at

Well if you go to a regional campus, you're there for 2 years and then Indy for the last 2. Unless you choose to do all 4 years at a regional campus

+1 to that. My interviewers were very nice and everything seemed to go over well, but the sheer number of stock questions that had to be asked made it hard to develop a natural conversation.

Finally got an II date today! Anyone interviewed at Ft. Wayne?

I interviewed at Fort Wayne on Wednesday 1/11....Really enjoyed my interview....the 2 faculty members I interviewed with were pretty cool and it was overall very relaxed. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

If it makes you feel any better, the day before I interviewed at Indiana I had another interview. When I came home from both I thought my previous interview went so well and that my Indiana interview had gone so so and I might not get in....a month later I got my acceptance package. Just keep positive! My interviewers definitely had gone over my application and I think they had a good understanding of who I was before and just wanted to confirm that in the interview and threw me way off with some of their questions (I had A TON of ethical questions)

Did admissions send out letters today, or will they be sending them out on some other day, since today is a Sunday on a long weekend?

Anyone interviewing at Indianapolis feb 8 and want to check out the city feb 7th?

Just withdrew my II to the NW Gary campus due to a recent in-state offer. Good luck to all of you this cycle!

Even though I just interviewed last week, I am so ready to hear back! I know it could be a while.

Congrats to all of the acceptances!

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm trying to book my flights. The email with my interview date didn't specify what time activities for the day should end so about what time would be best to get a flight out of Indianapolis?
