Okay so a small status update. So I sent my letter with intent to accept the offer of acceptance. They received my letter, and sent me an email confirming the receipt of the letter. I now have yet another additional tab called "accepted survey." Anyone on the same boat?

Yep got the same thing today

For everyone still waiting pre-II, Penn State will continue to put people on hold until February regardless of your complete date. Being on hold isn't a death sentence, but interviews for people with pre-II hold usually don't come until February according to last year's thread. Two cycles ago, I was placed on hold in mid-Feb and got an II first week of March. They start re-reviewing later on in the cycle, so sit tight it's not over yet 😉!

Silence is kind of a double edge sword. Many people who were complete early don't hear back until December-February. It can be an II, pre-II hold, or an outright rejection. There are no specific correlations as to how and when these decisions are made. However, if you haven't heard back in 2+ months, just keep in mind that it can be ANY of those three results.

Last cycle, I was complete early August and didn't hear back until December. I avoided many hold waves only to see a rejection in my inbox. Currently on hold, but if it's any consolation, a hold means they read your file and there shouldn't be any huge red flags. GL everyone!

you placed hold in the “Continue to Review” category or are you difference category HOLD?

pre-II Hold = Continue to Review. The subject line of the continue to review email is "Your application is on Hold." If you log into your portal to check your status, it will say your application is on hold + date

The AAMC is finishing up their conference tomorrow (November 11th-15th). Not sure how that may impact whether adcoms will be meeting/sending info out this week.

Anyone with the "additional info" tab that interviewed on the week of 10/3?

Will the weeks of 9/19-10/3 receive acceptances all at the same time period? Or will they be sent out in sequential order?

Not sure if anybody has lurked last years thread enough to know

They will quite likely not be sent out in sequential order. On a given interview day, interviewers from several different admissions decision groups will interview students, and since those groups meet when the interviewers are collectively available they are not always timely. Therefore, just by sheer luck from the perspective of an applicant, their respective admissions decision group could meet sooner or later. So please don't lose hope if you see others who interviewed at the same time or after you get accepted; the system is not intended to be completely sequential in its decisions.

thank you for clarifying!

"Our admissions offers will occur on a rolling basis. In most cases, offers will be made within 6-8 weeks of a candidate’s interview dates." It's the 8th week for me!

II yesterday after submitting my secondary on August 1st and being placed on hold for what felt like forever. I'm extremely excited and if anyone who has interviewed here this cycle could share their experience in terms of the types of questions that would be greatly appreciated!

Because I'm sure people will ask, Lizzy M = 70.

Thank you! I'm not sure if it was an official hold because the only communication I've had since I submitted my secondary (august 1st) was an email saying that my application had been passed onto the admissions committee on August 3rd. I assumed that it was a hold but just not formally stated. I was beginning to lose hope as well but hang in there, and good luck!

All questions were straightforward, about your background, application, desire for medicine, etc. I didn't get anything out of the ordinary

Anyone else have luck with being on hold before a II?

Congratulations! Interview experiences definitely vary but both of mine were super conversational. The first was heavy on my application. A lot of the typical questions you should expect to be answering, some elaborating on my experiences (the MD interviewing me took a lot of notes). The second was the opposite. We just sat back and talked about random things like best places to eat in the area and some good outdoor activities that can be done near Hershey. The lady I spoke to didn't take any notes and she said talking to her was an opportunity for me to ask any other questions I may have about the school. She asked me 1 question the entire time (about my summer plans post graduating undergrad). Kind of strange, but I got a lot of good info out of her. So overall very chill albeit the second interview wasn't conventional based on my other interview experiences.

Does anyone think they'll let us know this week, for people who interviewed 9/19 and after?

I would also like to know the answer to this... a while back people were saying that last year it seemed pretty 50/50 that some of the holds got interviews and some got rejected, but idk how true that is.

But we won't get anything unless our portal changes right? :scared:
I believe so, yes. If they ask for your social security number on your portal then you should receive an acceptance packet shortly afterwards.

I'm hoping the portal changes occur today or tomorrow, if not I would imagine they'll come out in December
