Complete 7/7 and still not scored. Weird, but at least it means we haven't been passed over for IIs.

can't really worry about the "under review" and "scored" titles so early in the game. ~8 months worth of waiting time so although it's hard seeing other people get II's just know it could happen at anytime in this huge window of interview months!

BTW received secondary 6/27, submitted 6/29. still "under review".

My message. I *think* it changed since yesterday, but I am not entirely sure.

I'm hoping because the first poster applied MD/MPH and I did not, they sent out II for those students (for both MD and MD/MPH) and are waiting to send the MD only students II in a batch, hence the quietness.
 
II!! Interview for Both MD and MD/MPH programs! Btw guys, consideration for these programs are separate. One could be admitted into the MD/MPH but not the MD. This is one of my top choices, I'm so excited to be getting some love. *In case you couldn't tell by my username*
 
My message is only "Your Application to the UM Miller School of Medicine is complete and is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee." There is no "Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their evaluation score from the Admissions Committee review. You will be contacted by email if you are selected for an interview. Interview invitations are extended between August and March." Should I be worried? this process is so stressful

I think what it means is that your application is complete and it is being reviewed but it hasn't been reviewed yet.

I'm pretty sure you have to be evaluated and then scored in order to get this evaluation score they speak of.
 
Hm I guess mine has not been reviewed and scored. Strange because I was complete 7/7.
 
Im curious to know how much they weigh gpa being that mine is completely crappy

Did anyone else get an II email today even though they havent submitted a secondary yet nor have LORs in?

I got an email today asking to schedule an interview but havent even started their secondary nor have my committee letter done. I am OOS lizym 75.5

the email was this:
"Congratulations! The Admissions Committee of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has reviewed your application and has selected you to interview for the 2017 entering class. An evaluation interview is an integral part of our selection process and is required to be considered for admission. Use the link below to select your interview date."

link goes to secondary app portal through which im assuming interviews are scheduled

Haven't heard back about the screening process yet. Should I just assume that I won't be getting the secondary at this point?

Now my trust is gone lol.

If they decide to send me one down the road i'll doubt the crap out of it. I'll have to call and confirm and double confirm for my own sanity
 
Also, I've heard of people's status updates being in black and also green colors. What do these mean?

OOS, 3.94 AMCAS cGPA, 36 MCAT, 4 publications (one first author), strong community service ECs, got good feedback on PS but who knows...
was verified on July 8 so kind of concerned!

Haha, no way you would be screened out with those stats ! You should call and ask about the secondary if it's been a while since you added the school.

Actually people with crimes listed on the applications or academic probation are often screened out depending on the nature of the offense. Not saying that's the case here, but that's definitely a reason great stats get screened.

True, but my gut tells me this 3.9/36 person isn't a felon.. And if they are, they should already know why they didn't get a secondary, lol.

Ha, he/she probably is not. As a former member of the adcom, I will say I was shocked to find that many of the felons had incredible stats!!

I agree call for a secondary and express interest... Can't hurt.

I haven't heard back either and I have a misdemeanor on my record. Was it felonies only that got people screened out or were misdemeanors also screened out?

I sent an email on Thursday, but if I don't hear back by Monday morning I'm going to call and express interest. All my other secondaries are done, so I have nothing to lose.

I can't remember - I think it depended the nature of it and how you answered. Definitely call.

You'd be surprised how forgiving Miller can be to low stat applicants in certain situations. GPA is only like 45 points out of 300. I was below their 10th percentile GPA and got my interview in October-ish.



Also everyone who's freaking out about the wording or color of their status message, it seriously doesnt matter. At orientation they told us UM is in the process of trying to integrate and update some of their software systems since many are super old and archaic. Its possible the process of updating the systems could have a hand in the slight changes on peoples statuses.

Trust me, they're not sending you coded messages by swapping words or phrases.

In other news MD kids have their first day of anatomy lab tomorrow. :scared: Wish us luck!

Haha definitely not a felon. I did have an IA for underage drinking (nothing really resulted from it). Guess that could be the culprit
 
Hey guys, I emailed the admissions email address about the "photo already uploaded" issue last wednesday. Since it has only been 5 days without a reply or fix to my profile, should I wait or should I email them again to ensure this wasn't overlooked?

I emailed admissions a couple of times about a letter of rec issue and they did get back to me, but it took probably 10 days. So maybe consider waiting at least a week- they seem swamped. I also tried calling, but could never get through!
