what kind of challenge did you folks use for the secondary? i am struggling with this prompt...

I used an example from a project I was working on from a previous career and the challenges of adjusting to a job where I had little background knowledge coming in. If you don't have a work situation to talk about, perhaps a school assignment where you had difficult group dynamics, a really challenging task, or juggling multiple responsibilities. You can also use a personal challenge if you have one. Good luck!

Thank you @alpha-GTP I really appreciate your advice; I definitely have similar situations to draw from and find myself with better direction. Thnks very much!

So I'm trying to complete the secondary and my social security number won't save. It will say it's been saved, but then I'll come back to the secondary and the box will be empty. Did anyone else experience this?

Yes that happens for security reasons. If the page saves then the SSN saved. I emailed and asked about it. The page wouldn't have saved unless you entered the SSN correctly and it is supposed to disappear afterwards.

Thank you kindly!

I submitted my secondary application on 8/3 yet the portal still says "invited to complete supplemental application" under my status. Is this normal? I have everything completed atm. If they are backed up atm, I completely understand. I just thought it was kind of weird.

I've been complete since early July and mine still has that status. I don't think it will change until you get an interview.

Mine stayed that way until I got an interview.

Never lived in PA. This is a of private school isn't it? Shouldn't matter.

They have IS and OOS tuition so I wasn't sure

Pitt student here. They actually prefer OOS, it's not an official policy but school officials tell us this when we start the pre-med track. They do have different tuitions, but the difference is minute (~1,000 per year).

@Inspector JacquesClouseau and/or any other Pitt students floating around - would you be able to comment on the interview day at all? My understanding is that it is a fairly low stress school, do you agree? Anything specific we should be prepared for?

Apologies, I wasn't clear before. I was a Pitt undergrad. But I've been involved with the med school, and I can tell you this is a very low stress school.

Low stress.
Unless things have changed -- there is an info session, tour, a student interview, faculty interview, lunch, and a mock-PBL session.

Wear comfortable shoes.

Anyone get an email about applying to the PSTP program? I was wondering if any current students can share their experiences with the program (if applicable) or know of the experiences of someone in the program? @Inspector JacquesClouseau @Frazier

Does Pitt send an email when your application is complete, or is it just the portal stating "Invited to complete supplemental application"? I haven't heard a thing since submitting the secondary (complete w/lor on 8/4), can anyone comment? Thanks guys

It stays like that until you are invited to interview.

II yesterday afternoon!

LizzyM 77, OOS, non-traditional. Good luck to everyone both applying and interviewing here.

Edit: I was complete 8/10, if anyone is curious.

I was curious to know if anyone can give some insight into what this school is like and why it is so highly ranked (aside from research funding etc.)?

From what little research I've done (just got II a few days ago), it is 1. research funding 2. long history of the establishment providing quality education 3. high quality clinical affiliations at U Pitt Medical Center (look it up, one of the premier medical centers in the states), 4. breadth of degree programs... physician scientist training program, medical scientist training program, clinical researcher training program, along with the typical degree paths. Also, on a side note, Pittsburgh is one of the highest ranked cities for young people / millenials to live and work.

Just my 2c, would love to hear from a student if any are lurking.

Thanks for the info. I also received an II a short while back. I'm just still a little unsure of what to look for in a medical school, want to make sure I am not missing something.
